Shooting the pier, cowabunga. I got my first surfboard in the summer of 1962. Had to give up surfing in 2019 because of back injuries. Lots of great times surfing in those 57 years!
thank you for this,so much heritedge at this place, when my roomate & i found this place, we couldn't believe what we found. we surf here at triple overhead, greg noll said it can handle any size! it scared me very well one day.this place allway's make's me smile so much.
Cool man dig it the most surfed there 64-69 on and off did Hermosa most of the time viva the old guys, Layton, Hudson, Quisnel, spelled his name wrong sorry Charlie! Aloha from the big island.
Smartest thing I ever did was buy over the course of a year or so a dozen years ago, half a dozen of John Severson's original watercolor paintings, one of the dumbest things I ever did was try shooting that pier 40 years ago, on a longboard, 2:30 AM high on mushrooms...
I saw the tram on the pier and I knew this is old. How about some of Jax Strips? The Huntington Beach Union High School Oiler's Class of 1964 approves of this video --- those of us who are left, anyway.

I lived in Huntington Beach in the 1960's. I remember the old pier. Good memories.

This film might be early 60's BUT that music is late 60's/early 70's - guarantee it!
Ya...it's almost "psychodelic" which was the LATE 60s. He should have used The Ventures, Beach Boys or Jan and Dean doing their Surf Songs....
music sucks shit
Thank you for all the videos.
Great vid and yes the surf theatre. Crazy times there.
we enjoyed surfing the HB "Cliffs"
Sweet thanks for sharing!

"You like a long board, I thought you young guys liked a short board" ?
"You can't ride the nose on a short board".
Nan was there
Look at the boards and at the car on the Pier... Guess this is more mid/late 60's. But cool music anyway.
I was probably on the pier. Old, old-school. Horrible sound track. What the heck happened to the surf music?
thye out lawed the shooting of the pier after someone died so much for free dom in America
my ears are bleeding
Does anyone remember bitchen Bradley Baylis?
