- It was forecast a nice day so I had five hours on the Settle and Carlisle line hoping to film some freight workings. The reason I have put "Entertaining" is because part of this video is different from what I normally film. Filmed on 24th June.
Thanks for filming this. Important freight workings indeed!
No problem, thank you very much for your interest in my video.
Excellent video, was surprised to see a TPE 68 on a freight! But very interesting. Watching the train reverse into the quarry reminded me of my days driving 59s reversing trains at Merehead and Whatley quarries in Somerset ,, thank you
Thank you very much Gary for taking look, so you have done a lot of working heavy stone train in the past, I upload a video this week of them trains working to and from the Somerset quarry’s.
antman09ful1 I’ve just taken a look at the video, just brilliant, that’s where must of my work was done on the 59s between the quarries and Westbury.
Great video!
Great day I had.
Great Shots on a nice clear Day. Awesome Reverse manoeuvre around that Curve, It Could of been very messy 😬
Yes I would like to go there again one day.
Splendid footage Mike, first time I've ever seen freight backing into Arcrow quarry. The Settle- Carlisle is one of the main places I go to film steam/ freight. I was at Helwith bridge myself on Wednesday for the steam charter. Thanks 👍👍
I’ve just watched your videos from Wednesday David, I know two guys from the Midlands who travelled up there to capture the return of steam. When I went to this lovely part of our country I didn’t know 100% what I was going to film so when I saw the working into the Quarry I stopped around there for the morning, as you do a lot of filming around there I bet you know all the good place to go. Thanks for your continued support watching my videos.
@@antman09ful1 Yes there is quite a few i know of, and still more to discover. Hope to get that shot of the quarry in the future Thanks.
Not wrong Mike, a very entertaining video. Really enjoyed the movements through such wonderful scenery.
Thank you very much David, pleased you liked the footage. Mike.
And another cracking set of clips!
Liking the second camera view as well. Great idea!
Great to see the train reversing into the quarry sidings.
Best wishes from the Wirral!
Cheers Darren for your interest in my videos, you are nearer to the S&C than me.
NICE dude subscribed !
Thank you for subbing my channel, I hope you find other videos you might be interested in. I normally upload a video every two days. Regards Mike.
Superb scenery and excellent weather made this video a fabulous entertaining watch. Nice one Mike
Glad you enjoyed it Matthew, bit of a pig that 66 getting ill.
Thanks Mike for making a long journey for this interesting Video
Cheers for watching Les, yes it was a bit of a long day but I do like to get to different areas of the country, as it keeps my mind occupied working trips out, then I don’t get bored with the hobby. Regards Mike.
Excellent film Mike, you sure get about, well done 🤓💙🏍️
Well I’ve always done a lot of traveling Anthony as I think it keeps me fit, there will be a day when I won’t be able to.
pleased you have enjoyed this slightly different video. Mike.
Brilliant video! I really enjoyed this :)
Thanks great thank you.
@@antman09ful1 your welcome :)
Great stuff Mike. You get about.
Hello Richard, well yes I do like to as you say get about. Pleased you enjoyed these trains that run by you.
@@antman09ful1 I've watched most of your stuff in quiet periods. I guess you have an old and new camera and didn't know what to do with the old one? Be safe jumping around those angles look distant from each other.
Fantastic video!!!
LIKE!!! 👌👌👌
Thank you for watching.
Another great video from you Mike, looks a lovely location with some beautiful scenery!
Many thanks matey for watching, it’s a shame the freight has dwindled so much, there used to be many coal trains per day but we still have the loverly views.
Very good video, looks like a good day was had!
Yes it was so nice to be in that part of the country Andrews, thanks very much for taking a look.
I did enjoy your video,I was fireman on a train from Stourbridge with brand new coaches for Scottish region, should have had relief at Crewe, but none available, so worked through to Carlisle, and took engine on Kingmoor Shed, as this was about 1963, no way of telling wife where I was, just over 18 hours duty, time I clocked off.kind regards
How times have changed, thanks for your interesting comment, and cheers for watching my video, pleased you enjoyed the footage. Regards Mike.
Excellent shots and great scenery!
You don’t get to see much but the countryside does help.
I just love the Settle & Carlisle line Mike, and this looked a lovely day to be out filming in the glorious countryside. Decent bit of freight and nice bonus of a TPE 68 on 6K05 too. Will you be going back up to film the Locomotive Services Limited operated Rail Charter Services Skipton to Appleby workings that started today?
Darren I would like to go back to see one of them workings, it depends on what loco they use and the weather, thanks for your interest in this video Darren.
Enjoyable video Mike with some fine shots, looks like you had some favourable weather as well. Looks like the crew in the Chinook were taking advantage of it too.
it was mostly all good stuff Bryan, apart from that loco braking down by Ribbleshead.
Great video as usual thanks 😀👍
And a bonus with the Chinook at the end 😀👍
Wasn’t sure if people would go for all the quarry stuff, thanks for your comment mate which is much appreciated. Regards Mike.
Very good video my friend, great footage and locations 👍
Thanks for visiting my channel again, pleased you enjoyed the video. Regards Mike.
good effort Mike. before the downfall of coal trains June and I stayed in the station at Kirby Stephen twice for a week and freight trains were fairly scarce, coal helped to keep us interested.. Now it is so scarce for freight I'd not waste my time on that route.I would want 4 cam shots not 2.....lol
I remember your trips and videos from the time you had holidays up there, you are right there isn’t much to film on that line anymore but I wanted to test myself if I can still drive there and back and call in at other places in a day.
I could have taken four camcorders and tripods with me but I think that would have been a little boring Keith.
@@antman09ful1 Take your lady and stay the week, its not tooooo expensive.. Not far to the village for suplies/fish n chips/ takeway.
great video
Thanks for viewing my video mate.
Great footage.
Cheers for taking a look. Mike
How can anybody dislike this video?
Urban Astro, I don’t know but thank you for your view on this video.
Great vid as usual
I do Appreciate your continued support watching my videos. Thank you Dan.
Some excellent (and unusual) views of the trains. Will you be having a trip on the 'Staycation express'?
Not sure, but I hope to get up there and film them.
Very interesting video. I think that Trans Pennine Express are neglecting passenger safety and comfort in their new third class open coaches. 🤣
Thank George for your comment.
Nice one 👍
Thanks for the visiting my channel mate.
I really need to visit the S&C
You go ahead Tom, cheers Mike.
Nice video Mike :)
Thanks for the taking a look Simon.
I was out on the same day filming and saw the helicopter fly over.
There was also two jets before the helicopter Dave, I had a good day apart from the freight failing.
@@antman09ful1 I'm making an aerial film (by drone) from Settle to Abbleby "along the line" I've almost finished it. It's 1hr 30m long and gives a unique view of the line and some trains.
Great stuff will take a look.
Is that Ingleborough you zoomed in on at 3:34? Been up that a time or two... Loved the CL66 pushing the hoppers near the end, also you got "the horn".
Yes Baz, well done for getting up there, cheers for viewing the video. Mike.
Great video- last time I was there it was romping behind D200!
You were lucky with the TP 68 - does anyone have ideas on how to best amend the FPS rating on video modes to avoid the blinking marker light effect?
No idea Ned, hope someone can help you. I would like to say thank you very much for watching my video. Regards Mike.
Don't think you can amend FPS to reduce or stop the blinking lights on 68s, all depends on the amount of light that the video camera lens will see, different video cameras may give different result.
perthdave100 - thanks for the reply- I do find it distracting when you are re-watching your favourite video and the front of the loco is flashing like a fire engine! There’s the same problem with destinations on modern buses too....
A 68 would look great with some headcode discs instead perhaps!!!
@@antman09ful1 If your camera will set at 1080 50P it might stop the flicker or even 1080 60P Try that mike
So who actually owns 68s? If there used for freights
DRS own the class 68 mate, thanks for your interest in this video.
@@antman09ful1 do they own all the 68s? And lease to tpx
Yes they run all 34 of them, but all locos are owned by leasing company’s.
@@antman09ful1 thanks!
