92% MORE POWER! CRF300L Big Bore Dyno

- The CRF300L has had just about every mod within reason done to at this point. Big bore, ported head, cams, airbox, and so on. But now it's time to get it properly dyno tuned at Texas Superbikes. The results are pretty nutty, massive gains across the board. Bikes so fun now. You don't have to go this far, I've shown other set ups for less work and money. But if you do wanna get crazy it's pretty fun.

Happy to see you finally got it dyno'ed properly, the power increase is genuinely impressive.
been patiently waiting for the dyno results, quite impressive gains!
Hell Yeah, nothing better than achieving something you aimed !
Do a video with, as you say, the most bang for the buck and easy mods to get what YOU, the guru, believe is a good amount of powah!
This video is basically that, ua-cam.com/video/_feVYtsCeSg/v-deo.htmlsi=suy-Tw6sXfEwIWcg
I have a 300 kit at 29hp 33 foot pounds of torque. 286cc I can make more power by changing piston and putting bigger valves in with better springs and increasing the RPMs..
I guess it'll be roughly 92% more power
i've said since the mirage came out they should let the us have the turbo version. and get the rights to the beastie boys song. and just show clips of a mirage hooning and they come up and go ahhhhhhhhhhhhh oh my god its a mirage i'm telling yall its and then cut. and its the turbo specs.
😂
dude the red car slammed the brakes when u started wheeling
5min.02sec
So was that mod price with you doing alot of the work?
Convert the 686cc single from the Yamaha 700R Raptor to a supermoto. Perfect.
And you’d have reverse!
@@TheGardenSnake Absolutely. It's all factory forged internals. Pop a turbo on it and make 100 horsepower.
I think we all want to talk about the Mitsubishi Mirage! Two hundred and eighty-eight thousand miles! That had to be terrible!
The blow by was insane. If you popped the oil cap off while running it was like a leaf blower coming out of there. I had to add about 1/3 quart every fill up. But it didn’t leak any fluids and just kept going.
4:43 why are you on the side-walk?
Got lost
Mo Powa Babeh!
Has it changed top speed?
I can hit rev limiter in 6th now. That's like 103 or something.
name that tune
DRZ400 with pumper carb in SM form would a good match up.
Watched every vid on that bike, has to be the quickest 300l there is! Awesome Honda! Don't sell Jake, keep making content with it!
I saw some video on Thailand where they did a whole build on one and get 44hp. I’m very questionable on its reliability but for sure you can get more. Remember my big bore is the very conservative one that only takes it up to 301. There are lots that got up to 350 and crank the compression up more too. But from what Ari told me and the research I’ve done that doesn’t last long.
You did him dirty showing his messy room on youtube 😅
😂🤷♂️
I don't feel the need to do so much to my CRF, but I wish Honda had made it a true 300cc engine to begin with. I personally feel 286cc is a bit short for being called a 300; maybe if they had at least topped 290 or so.
That’s why I made a bunch of XR286 merch haha. And bold graphics will do you a kit like mine but with XR286 if you want. Like might as well own it.
@@TheGardenSnake What's your opinion of the Beta bikes? They have a handful of displacements between 250-450.
34 isn't bad at all! Get you a few lighter parts like a Lithium ion battery if you havent already.
People are tired of watching you wheelie this thing around warehouse parking lots. Put the knobbies on and show us dirtballs how she gets down in the dirt now WOT style!
QUESTION about Emissions? When ya rip that sH!T out is there any problems during the inspection or does your State make
you pass an emissions test? What's the deal w/ bikes & emissions? With my luck I'd rip the shit out & get told I could not use
it on the road anymore? Anyone know?
Ok, project XR301 is done. Can you resolve your differences with Ducati and get a 698 mono to do your next bike build on please.
Nice Jake!
I need to quicken up my crf300L!
Thanks for all your great content!
🏍️💨
That's not bad at all. I think my crf450x made 28 with a R head, piston and a hot cam.
Hey, how much did it cost you? Will be back up there soon, need to dyno and tune my Night Rod.
Uh you’d have to call, I’m pretty sure they have to tune those pre cylinder.
Great results Jake. Did you get a dyno readout of the torque curve compared to stock?
It did read torque and it made a pretty flat 21 pounds. Problem was I didn’t get a stock reading. The place I went for that one didn’t work. Google says it’s 16 stock at the wheel.
@@TheGardenSnake that's a great result. Congratulations.
Ooooh a piece of candy
I have a drz, just bolt on's left you a reply on the last video
Keep up the good work your bike is really nice for sure 👍
34bhp is a really good gain for the work, and the fact that its still only just over 300cc, and has a std throttle body, valve sizes etc.. Well done!
I would like to see what a KLX300SM could do with breathing mods, remap and some aftermarket cams. I don't think that would get it the same level, but 28-29bhp maybe?
I looked into when I was thinking about getting the 300. The older klx250 is the same mill and people have been pinching those out to 350s. I think I saw 28-29hp like you where thinking. Somethings holding it back.
@@TheGardenSnakeYeah I think there is some potential in the KLX SM, and I like the fact that it's an out of the factory supermoto with adjustable suspension and set up for SM use. It's also a small bike that could be modified and upgraded much like the CRF300 to be better with some well considered modifications. I've read it has an ECU controlled secondary throttle which can be removed, and this might be part of why it feels like it's holding back.
I'm in the UK and we don't get the KLX300SM imported here yet, but for my next bike it's on my shortlist for a factory built supermoto. The other two bikes I'd consider is the SWM500R and the Sherco 500SM. I'm not really a KTM group fan, so there's not too many new SM bike options out there. The new Ducati will be too expensive and powerful for what I want too. There's a Fantic 500 Rally, which I thought could be converted to SM spec with new wheels and suspension mods, but it's 159kg which is too heavy for a 450cc 41bhp bike, and I'd rather buy a ready built bike anyway. Maybe Honda will offer a CRF300 SM soon?
The main issue with the KLX engine is the timing curve set by Kawasaki. On my 2007 KLX351 I installed the Paray CDI box and dialed in my own timing curves. It made a noticeable difference.
@@justincalhoun91 I'd love to see a dyno after the CDI. Bet it did way better!
What's the 0-60 now?
Awesome mods! You’re almost making stock 350exc-f power now.
What is the new top speed after all the mods you did to it? Also, have you swapped the sprockets at all
Looking at either a 21 crf 300l or a 17 fz-07 which one will be better
JAKE UPLOADED!
Let's fricken goooooo!!
Im ao glad your still here making content all these years later. I remember being 14 and just having got my first dirtbikes watching all the drz400 vlogs. This is a comfort channel 😂
As a guy that just sold a drz sm with intent to get a crf300L (I’m 5’6” and want to do more off road riding) the powa you’re making is a relief to me.
I have a drz400sm with full pipe, still stock carb and I can keep up with a KTM 500 sm up to 70mph
your xr301 seems like it has the same power as a flat slide drz with just pipe, I think hotcams would outdo the 301
What hand guards are those with the mirrors? And have you figure out the evap/check engine light issue. I’ve noticed the guys on the KLX have a plug to complete the electrical loop for no check engine light.
that amount of power and the dyno graph is so worth it for a 50cc upgrade. With the lightness, it's a weapon for sure
Since then I've gone through a R7 and now onto a 2021 Husky 701 SM lol.
As long as it makes enough power to run from the cops when they see you pop a wheelie, that's really all you need.
34bhp 👍👍🇬🇧
Apart from the suspension, thats really not that much money.
RE racing a DRZ: horsepower is just 1 point; if you have more area under the curve you'll have better acceleration than a DRZ with the same power and same weight (317 stock). tighter ratios help too. ideally you'd have infinite ratios (CVT, but not tuned for fuel economy). MOST IMPORTANTLY: rider skill. launching a bike is harder than launching a car. DRZ also doesn't have tach so if you went to 2nd+ there's a good chance the DRZ short shifted.
Good points
still looking for a place to purchase the big bore kit
"JAAAAAAAAAAKES MOTO VLOGGING CHANNEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL"
so... Turbo time? Please? Lol
Mo powa baby
I have a 18’ wr250r and made 32whp with stock bore😳
Doubt, go google what those dyno at or post the results
Brappp
The current CRF250R puts 38-40 to the wheel. It would be a neat engine swap, but the tight spaced 5 speed would suck.
You sure? Pretty sure that's crank.
@@AjackLee4 Pretty sure. Dyno testing by Dirt Rider here on youtube shows 37.6 at the wheel for a '22 CRF250R, 37.8 for a '23, and 38.4 for a '19.
@@commentaccount49 Jesus that's crazy for a 250. What dyno are they using?
Hey Jake could you please get a new wr450 I miss the old wr vids
The old wr videos would not work on UA-cam anymore haha. Most are demonetized and suppressed.
@@TheGardenSnake damn you youtubeee haha
The wheels, are the numbers adjsuted for the non-std wheel diameter?
That’s not something the dyno knows one way or another. That is the power it’s putting down.
@@TheGardenSnake Motard wheels put down more power to the ground. Small wheels cannot be compared to the standard setup.
Torque of a CRF300L is 22.6Nm (depending on where you source it)
Force (f) = torque (t) / radius (r).
Means that at a radius of 1 metre, the force would be 22.6N. Closer to the axle, more force from the same torque.
So to compare a motard rear wheel to a stock 120/80-18
A 120/80-17 profile tyre is 26mm diameter smaller.
18 rim: r = 0.337m
17 rim: r = 0.323m. (half an inch less even more with a lower profile tyre)
Therefore
18 force on road is 22.6 / 0.337 = 67.1 N
17 force on road is 22.6 / 0.323 = 70.0 N
That’s 4.3% more force to accelerate the bike with the 17 inch wheel, all else the same, not counting the lighter wheel and tyre.
What are you talking about? The dyno measures torque at the wheel not force. Torque already takes different lengths of levers into account. That’s why the unit is Newton METER.
i didnt get any notifications
Yeah man I think my channel is f-ed. I can’t find my own videos sometimes. Like searching the exact name of a video and putting my name in front of that, nope.
@@TheGardenSnake i got a lot of catching up to do
My fz07 is almost as light. Gets 60mpg and will smoke your honda
No one asked. No one cares lol.
offroad too? ;)
Uh… ok bubs
