Wow good luck with that mess. I count myself lucky to have mostly worked on un modded circuits, and a few that made sense like black face mods or master volumes added. Keep up the good fight.
Good idea to restore it to "original" specs first, and then give it a listen. But determining what was original may be easier said than done, as Fender sometimes failed to document in their schematics various circuit revisions. You may want to compare to the 6G6B and C revisions to see why some of the values differed from what you documented. Presumably the B and C revisions were done to solve an issue or otherwise improve the amp. Look forward to seeing this project go forward!
Definitely on the list, to try and suss out the differences between the versions. Iirc the presence control was a big one, but I do know more than one person that thinks the stock 6g6 is the one to have vs the revisions. That's why I'd like to get it back to as leo intended and see what's what.
For a better understanding of the circuit as it currently exists (and where somebody elses mods went wrong), drawcthe discrepancies into the schematic and not onto the board layout...
@@YeatzeeGuitar you already know what I'm telling you, but I want to show you support regardless: there will always be well-meaning know-it-alls in these UA-cam comments (as out of pocket these folks can be, I do believe they generally mean well and just have lousy execution giving their advice). You're doing what I am too scared to do, which is put yourself out there doing something that you (and I) love doing, working on these old amps, and opening yourself up to a bunch of toxicity and negativity in the process. I admire it, wish I could do it, but I don't respond well to criticism (I do well with encouragement, which runs counter to how the internet works). I'm so enjoying your videos and appreciate you doing them. It feels good seeing someone like me troubleshooting issues the exact same way I do (I really suck at reading schematics, but the wiring diagrams are immensely helpful in undoing crazy mods and returning these amps to factory stock). Keep doing these vids. Not all of us are career amp techs, but folks like you and me have the skills, understand the collector culture around vintage amps, and are doing good work in preserving these amps both historically and in terms of value. I have a '62 Tremolux on the bench as we speak actually.
Really kind words, thank you man I appreciate that greatly. Honestly FB groups are way worse, it's pretty rare I get anything real bad on UA-cam outside of shorts. Those shorter videos end up being a dumpster fire for some reason 😂
Look at a schematic/layout for the 6G6A. That will explain some of the peculiarities. Looks like you may have a crossbreed. Doesn't explain all the muckups someone else has done though. Good luck untangling this.
Thanks Slucky! And hey your comment showed up! 🙌 Yeah i spent a while last night trying to map out this amp vs the layout vs a known vintage original to figure out what's going on. Going to start a thread on it so I can get your expert help sussing it all out.

I'm still working on those schematic skills, easier to start with the layout then see how that relates to the schematic for me right now

How'd those RCA tubes test?
No tube tester here, but that's way down the line. I've got old known good RCA's as well as JJ and Tad redbase to compare once we're at that point.
Shame this was allowed to happen to this amp.
