They are trying to regain the market share from Chinese brands like OPPO, VIVO, Xiaomi. In lot of emerging markets, Chinese brands are all over and till now Samsung wasn't making good phones in this price segment.

for A series phones, add 2 fingerprint of the same finger, plus go to settings remove animations and increase touch sensitivity
I've had the A11 for a few weeks and it's a good phone - cant fault it for its price / performance and overall build quality.
Update - after having this phone for a year I definitely wouldn't recommend the A11 - it suffers from a lot of input lag and just seems unresponsive at times for no apparent reason. I just did a factory reset on it - which only marginally improved it's performances - oddly it seems slower than when I first purchased it.
I've subsequently upgraded to an A22 which is superior in every way and very responsive and fast.
Any stutter or lag? Watched other reviewers and they said the A11 is really laggy especially the camera. I don't expect flagship performance at this price, but would like a 2020 phone that doesn't lag too much.
@@notagain2856 I haven't noticed any significant lag yet - I haven't used the camera that much. But it all goes back to price - this is amazing value for money imo. I'll put up with an occasional stutter when and if it occurs - the overall quality and functionality is up there with the ridiculously overpriced top of the line phones. Sure the camera isn't quite as good and maybe the processor isn't as fast but I'd rather have a phone that does what i need to do and put the rest into building a gaming machine.
@@RickOShay Thanks for replying. I am planning to get a new phone for my missus to replace her 4 years old Samsung. She doesn't game, but likes to take photos for social medias. And she wants better battery life than the old phone. How about the battery life so far for you?
@@notagain2856 so far battery life with fairly heavy usage lasts more than a day. And it has a fast recharge.

@@azlxns The ugly bezels on a 2020 phone, even a Samsong A01 looks way better and similar in terms of spec, tho the chipset is inferior, it costs $99 for a flagship look and a ram as much as the iphone 11 what more can you ask for. When the iPhone se is $399

My previous phone [Motorola E6] was a budget phone but it was crappy. 16GB storage, really slow, and apps would crash at any time. It also didn't have the hole punch display, which I thought was aesthetic.

Samsung's really delivered on their A series.
I’m gonna be honest bro the A series is not all that, they are overpriced compared to competitors, and I can say with certainty that the A11 is by FAR the most warrantied phone at my store, I swear 1 out of every 2 doesn’t end up working it’s a huge hassle

I ordered mine today. I've been using the Samsung A2 Core, since my Huawei P Smart 2018 broke. The A2 Core has performed remarkably well for what it is, and I am happy that the A11 seems to be 2 or 3 steps up from it.

How is it working a month later are there any problems? Like lagging, slowing down etc?
@@tomotyro3083 it slowed down a bit for me after android 11, but definitely usable and enjoyable. Obviously it's a great daily driver, but if you want a really clean simple phone I reccomend iPhone 10 - iPhone 12.

I kind of like the hole punch camera on the left rather than the middle or right hand side. It's basically out of the way when consuming content and for some reason, it looks much cleaner

I have had iPhones my entire life, recently I purchased the iPhone 11 pro. At a party I dropped it and it completely shattered. After spending that much money on a phone and it breaking i was tired of iPhones in general. I decided to purchase one of these phones. It was cheap, and after watching this video I thought why not? And like you said, for the price, its not bad at all. Definitely worth the $170 dollars i spent on it. Plus the case I bought was inexpensive as well. Definitely worth it if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money on a phone.
This one might be a little weird but could you make a comparison between a71 and s10 plus. Beacuse this s10plus was a flagship last year and it still has great features like display and ip68 resistant build and wireless charging but a71 on the other hand is newer so longer updates and it has some interesting new features like macro and time of flight sensors and newer cameras overall bigger battery etc. So I am interested how well does a71 compete with an "old" flagship.
Thank you so much for including a series phones I really like that beacuse other tech channels usually just skip it and go for s and note and don't even consider people who can't or are not willing to buy a 1000€+ phone.
That is definitely a fair comparison. I could go into more detail generally about old flagship vs new midranges as well. Thanks for the idea!
What a coincidence that my brother has A71 and I'm using the S10+ so I'll give some highlights from my experience, overall A71 are pretty good like no lags here and there but it just doesn't feel premium for me in term of build quality.
For battery honestly I have no idea since it's exynos version (heard the qualcomm version are the best one in term of battery life so go with it if you want) and I'm a really heavy user and my battery has gotten bad I assumed, but I still managed to get 7 to 8 hours SOT except when gaming like playing fortnite and some heavy games it'll gets hella hot and drained pretty quickly though depends on the game. One thing that I always complained with the S10+, whenever it's on idle like I left it while sleeping, it'll eat like 8% to 12% battery even though it's only on airplane mode. Possibly because of the Exynos chip problem. And then for the screen brightness, A71 are more brighter, though it ain't as colorful as the S10+ when using it outdoors, but it doesn't mattery anyway since it's kinda hard to tell the difference.
Not sure about the ToF camera cuz I don't even know how it works. But I tried the macro lense on A71, the picture quality is kinda meh to be honest, a low quality one, basically just a gimmick but if you want it, it's there. For the main camera, S10+ is the clear winner here, not just because of 4k 60fps video recording, but with better sensor and also the picture quality especially in night mode is still going strong on S10+. But I liked how big the A71 screen is and I was surprised when I compared it to my phone, makes my phone looks tiny lol. Oh yeah also S10+ got mostl of the S20/S20+ camera feature with the last month update, but the fact that it has only 10x zoom makes me sad lmao. Personally I'd go with the A71 for longer support, but since I got the S10+ already since last year so yeah, I'm happy and satisfied enough with it. Also the punchole camera on the S10+ is kinda annoying to be honest, and it's hard to find a good tempered glass that supports the ultrasonic fingerprint unless you wanna pay like $50+ with risk of failure to apply it.

Picked up this phone last night due to my iPhone breaking after all stores closed with the intent of using it until I can get a new iPhone, however I am very impressed with this A11, and don't see myself picking up another phone and will stick with this. Highly recommend. I paid 160 out the door

I must say, the typing experience and any sort of multitasking experience is terrible. It isn't just that loading new things is slow, closing current apps is a slow process

My grandmother wants to get a new phone, and I have recommended this for her. At first, I recommended a phone from Xiaomi to her but then I realized that Xiaomi phones are not really reliable in the long run cause they tend to suffer alot from the software side. Hey, if anyone decides to get this phone, get the 3GB ram varient if you can. I think the stutters in his video is due to the 2GB of ram. So far for me, maybe I'm just lucky I don't know but performance has been great, the camera actually surprised me once you tinker with the settings. It surprised me alot actually especially after the reviews. I needed a phone and I'm pleasently surprised and happy with my purchase. Again, if you can get the 3GB RAM version, get it. I haven't really gotten those stutters with my experience so far. Scrolling through UA-cam etc has been good so far. I do use my phone alot and so I do have a pretty good idea by now. I don't play games on my phones so I don't know about that department. Oh and you actually get about 20GB of internal memory, so keep that in mind. Great video also. Obviously keep a realistic expectation of what you're getting.

Be nicer if the hole-punch was in the middle, it's slightly distracting off to the side, but you probably get used to it being there.

Thank you for this review. I don't follow the smartphone consumer treadmill very closely. I dread the experience of getting a new phone (which I have to now) because there is so much to know, plus so little of actually winds up mattering for someone with my smartphone needs, and it takes so much research to be sure that you can get a good phone in the right price tier with your plan. That said, my hand is being forced right now since my ancient Samsung Galaxy S3 is becoming increasingly non-functional. This was a very informative and helpful review in figuring out if the A11 is a reasonable replacement.

the problem with samsung's non flagship phones is the software updates. it's cheap, good and fast now but after within a year you experience it getting slow.
I use this phone sometimes (It's not my main phone), and I don't regret buying it.
I have seen my friends using a phone for taking a picture of a document, was suprised to see the details was good and able to read even when zoom. I thought he was using A51 (I know it is Samsung A series) but then he said, it is A10. So, camera quality for Samsung now is good enough even for the cheap ones. I think this A11 at least will take that a notch higher in terms of camera quality.
