Hi Mark, your video popped up tonight and I’ll be curious to see where you’re at with your build when I go to your channel. I’m in on the group build as well with Jason, but I just started tonight as I had another kit I wanted to finish first. So I’ve got a little catching up to do. Interesting that your vid showed up just as I started , serendipitous!
Good Afternoon Mark; I built this kit many years ago for a collector; about the only issue I remember having had was the clear glass part/flight deck that gave me a few issues. Good luck Sir with your build! Kind Regards from a windy and cold Stratford, New Zealand, Dennis.
i'm busy doing the F variant at the moment Mark the " Belle " kits alright to be fair , gotta cut one window out though and also got some .50 Cal Brass barrels to spruce it up a bit , hopefully gonna motorize the engines too , wish me luck , good luck with the build Mark !!! ...Shaun.
This Academy B-17G (2143) dates back to 1994. A Minicraft rebox. It's cheap, as it should be. Unless budget restricted by the tightest of budgets, really not worth building today when Revell and Airfix have retooled theirs last decade. Rivetting is non existent, as is detail generally. The MGs are about as realistic as a piece of stretched sprue, very 1963ish, but worst of all, it has a glaring mainplane dihedral flaw. The angle is completely wrong and will look just wrong sat on its wheels if you build it per instructions. It needs to be addressed with serious surgical modelling skills to correct it, an absolute PITA. Just no. Enthralled by its decals, I bought 12414 a decade ago. The decals alone were worth more than I paid for it thankfully. Undeniably gorgeous box top are on that one, but a lie in alluding to the contents within. Just buy Airfix's (2016) or Revell's (2010) new toolings. I have the Revell 04283. The only aspect which needs visual correction with it is the nose transparency oblique angle. A bit of work, but doable.
Nice choice of a kit to build. I'm going to be joining this build as well. You've been subbed
Thank you.
Enjoy.

The dihedral is a bit steep on the Academy Fortresses. FYI. Cool video my friend.
Thank you.

Academy kit looks good. 👍 Please complete it nicely. ^^😉
Twice as many B-17s were lost during WWII than Lancaster's.

Thanks for that info! I think I would buy the Airfix kit
