I feel like ToonTown just makes more sense and feels more like a place the cartoon characters would actually live in. It also wouldn't make much sense when Fantasyland was already running with that theme.

    Most underrated channel on UA-cam!

Medieval? Now that sounds cool! Tokyo always try to top themselves. But ToonTown is still nice. Can't wait for the new Beauty and the Beast ride to open, that caste looks epic

So many projects that never came about, it's interesting to see how old ideas got reused in other projects

I do really like Tokyo Disneyland more than Magic Kingdom. It's cool to see what could have been there. Speaking of CD's you would be surprised how big the market is for physical media here in Japan. I think that's incredible.
Of course, I haven't been out in a long, long time.
Great video by the way I look forward for more!

It blew my mind to see how many CD's were for sale in the Tokyo Disney Resort. Hopefully you're able to get out and about again soon, it's definitely a weird time! It was great footage thanks, hopefully I can live variously through you again if you can revisit when the Beauty and the Beast section opens! - Luke

This would have been amazing and a fun unique alternative to the toon town we have in California

The Fantasyland theater didn't replace the Tomorrowland theater

    • @nosrePnamuH

In a way it did, around the time they needed extra space in Tomorrowland and a giant theater was in the way, the costs used to operate the theater was reallocated to the videopolis theater which serves the same function as the old Tomorrowland theater but is no longer in the way of a new attraction like Captain EO. They also did this with Skyway, the budget for the operation and maintenance on that attraction was reallocated to Indiana Jones. Disney was always about budget cuts and penny pinching

Luke, you covered this very well. You are right. All the parks are essentially the same attractions wise. This land would have suited Mickey so well as an IP. As those that have seen the original cartoons would know this is how they used to be set up. Slight dark humour but always with a great outcome.
It's a shame that the industry leader does not like to change things up too much in regards to attractions. I mean If this version was installed it would have been a one of a kind ensuring Disney diehard fans would definitely want to visit.
But then again if it ain't broke don't fix it. Right?.

The biggest thing nowadays is the splitting of development costs between Resorts if you put the same rides in multiple parks, just look at Star Wars Land, Runaway Railway etc. It's a shame that means we don't get a lot of unique experiences for parks anymore though (Even if it means we get "bigger and better" rides) - Luke

I think Tokyo DisneySea should add King Triton’s Carousel of the Sea, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, and the dark ride The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure to the Mermaid Lagoon section along with an Aladdin dark ride for the Arabian Coast, some Pirates of the Caribbean attractions, etc.!

I think Tokyo Disneyland should revive the project as part of Tokyo Disneyland’s New Fantasyland expansions alongside a Beauty and the Beast area with the Beauty and the Beast dark ride, a Dumbo’s Storybook Circus area with Dumbo the Flying Elephant, an Alice in Wonderland expansion, and other cool stuff!

I'm glad Toon Town is getting some love with Mickey & Minnies Runaway Train but it's a shadow of it's former 90's self. Really needs a revamp and rethink but the new attraction is a step in the right direction.
Now if Disney wasn't bleeding money...

Hopefully Runaway Railway revitalises the land a bit because as it currently stands I might head back to Toontown once on a Disneyland trip to do Cartoon Spin but there isn't much to make me come back again at a different time within the trip! - Luke

I can understand why they went with the already successful ToonTown and expect it is more what the Japanese would enjoy, but personally would love to visit MickeyVille, the drawings look amazing.

Beauty and the Beast, Winnie the Pooh, and Monsters Inc are the only unique rides in the Tokyo Disneyland park (Baymax would make 4, but that is a basic flat that every resort pretty much has now so it makes sense).

Tokyo also has arguably the best version of some of the classics too such as Splash Mountain and Small World, Tokyo DisneySea is where the Resort really shines though - Luke

MVille is SOOOO much more interesting and charming than MTTown. I'd be ok with Disneyland's ToonTown if it was still working, but it's devolved and eroded so much over the years I'd been hoping they'd replace it with something better. Runaway Railway ensures that's not gonna happen, though M+MRR in Orlando looks fantastic. But a new ride in the rundown, bad part of Disneyland makes the whole ToonTown that much more sad. Maybe they could have walk-around prostitute characters and drug dealers to give the place its proper atmosphere. Sort of like Pottersville, but cartoony. Because that's the vibe I get from ToonTown now.

While digging a hole today, I found a box full of old coins.
I couldn't hold back my excitement, and I ran indoors to tell the wife...
And then I remembered why I was digging the hole
