  • Findmypast is joined by Irish family history expert Fiona Fitzsimons for a session on all things Irish, tracing Irish ancestors can't have its own unique hurdles to overcome, but Fiona and Findmypast have all the Irish genealogy knowledge you'll need to help you with your family tree.
If anyone wants to hear more of Fiona or ask her more questions about Irish ancestors, she runs a free Facebook Q&A session every Friday at 5pm for the Irish Family History Centre.
Fiona Fitzsimons is one of the most well known and experienced Irish genealogists. You may have seen her work on some of the most famous family history TV series: since 2005 Fiona has been a researcher for Who Do You Think You Are, and from 2009 for Finding Our Roots (PBS). However, it’s through teaching that Fiona best connects with those beginning their Irish Family History journey. In 2017 she developed a two-year introductory class in Irish Family and Social History at Trinity College Dublin. When she’s not teaching or researching, Fiona writes for online magazine Irish Lives Remembered; and is a columnist for History Ireland (Kindred Lines). She is co-founder of the Irish genealogy firm Eneclann (established 1998), and a Director of the Irish Family History Centre @ CHQ in Dublin (established 2016)..

I would love to sit down with you for a couple hours and discuss my Irish genealogy strategies and the work I’ve done so far. You know so many more sources and places to look than I’ve ever been exposed to before. This was a very inspiring session you did today thank you so much!

This was so enjoyable! I did not know that FMP has all of the records you mentioned during this session. I need to go back and check what is available that could assist me in my research. Thanks very much and I look forward to me videos like this.

How do I fine someone to search for records used in the foreign birth citizenship. My wife’s grand Uncle 84 would like to apply?
