Thanks a bunch. If you want to watch a funny video watch the one called Red Dawn. Thanks for watching and I really appreciate the comments. Have a great day.
Now that is really cool. Two queens in one very large hive. I suppose that makes the green two hives, a condo of sorts. an upper dwelling and a lower. As long as the queens keep their distance, it should be productive!! Will you split the hive into two? Also, I received a package in the mail recently and I thank you so very much for the lovely bit o'honey! I had morning tea and it was sublime!! Thank YOU Bug Farmer and thank YOU girls!! Much appreciated. I will 🐝 happy for quite some time!! 👍🐝👌☕
It is really crazy. Usually one queen will kill the other but I guess because they were separated by a queen excluder they couldn't. What I couldn't figure out was why the workers accepted two queens in the colony and didn't kill one of them. Thanks for watching buddy and enjoy your tea.
@@BugFarmerBees I must say, that in these later years of my life, there are only two mysteries that still prevail in my mind, the first? Those who can recite chapter and verse of the bible without hesitation and the second? Bees !
That sting meter gets me everytime. I got tagged by a bee from a bee tree in my neighbors pasture yesterday. Interested to see what ya find out in that green hive.
It turned out I did have two queens in that hive. One in the top and one in the bottom. Craziest thing I ever saw. The bees never fail to amaze. Thanks for watching.
I have heard that is very helpful to add a top entrance to a super when you have a queen excluder on. A large handful of my friends swear it increases honey flow into the super at much as 30%
Sir do, are you hoping to harvest surplus honey from the green hive this year? Split them or you could lose out big time. Smoking the bees at the edges of the box before putting on the super will prevent crushing bees and thereby prevent you being stung. Also putting the super box catercorner and then slowly sliding it into place will give some bees time to move out of the way. I have seen that bees will give a certain amount of leeway for you to do an inspection, however, when that time runs out anything goes. I can see you are doing a really good job at beekeeping and I'm glad you are sharing your experience with me. Thank you 🙏.
Thank you for the information and the compliment. It means a lot coming from an experienced beekeeper such as yourself. I really appreciate you watching my videos and sharing your knowledge with me. You are much appreciated. Also, I looked up that tree and it will not grow in Georgia. It only grows in the tropics. I am going to plant some mimosa trees for my bees. :-) Thanks again for watching.
Years ago on hives we used to let go to just see what the bees did there would often be two queens when it was a big setup with a Queen excluder , and basically it happens when a swarm is looking for a home when they find a hive with 3 honey supers especially, when the top empties out or a complete dead out I’ve seen the upper and lower box fill up with two different swarms all within 24 hours , as long as they can’t get to each other, if you hear the queens piping you might get stung like this one 😜 often the the two Queen hives were hot hives you should wear gloves if you are gonna keep the tWo queens, you’ll get more honey at least 🎉🎉
Hi David. It sounds like you have a lot of experience to draw from which makes me appreciate your advice even more. Thank you for stopping in to have a look and for taking time to share your ideas. I hope to hear from you again in future comments. Take care.
@@BugFarmerBees no problem! I started in 1971 in my family’s orchard/apiary, I just got back into bees last year, I used to manage 1,000 colonies at a time but I will never know all there is to know about bees before I’m gone lol , one thing I will tell you, I used to be one of those guys that never wore a full suit or gloves but I got stung so much it actually gave me an allergy to bee venom, it’s not like people think, the more you get stung the more likely you are to becoming allergic to bee venom, they say if you work with bees long enough it’s when you become allergic not if you become allergic. Although your sting meter had me crying i would just put the gloves on and be proud !! I now have to wear a full suit just to walk within 100 feet of my hives , one sting to me and I’m off work for two weeks and wherever gets stung swells up like a basketball and hurts like hot coals and sulfuric acid in mucous membranes! 🥹🤓
You need to make a split, but your fan are defeating the purpose, they causing the bees to make heat for the brood which need to be between 94f & 98f plus they're having to haul extra water to keep the open brood hydrated, best way to let the bees work the upper boxes is stagger the top 2 supers a 1/4 inch so they use that as upper entrance, they'll still post guards but when you have big flow on they'll fill several supers in about 2 weeks and cap it. Watch Gus Mitchell's video on this .
Hi Carl. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I don't remember what my final solution was to that situation but it very well may have been a split. As for the fans, the bees have had heated and ventilated hives for 4 years now and they do very well with them. The weather here in Georgia is hot and very humid so the fans help the girls reduce their honey. I generally set the fans to maintain temps around 90F in the summer and the heaters 70F in the winter. I will certainly check out Gus Mitchell's video. More information is always better. Thanks again for stopping in to have a look at my video and for taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. Take care.
Also I have watched a video from an other channel where the bee keeper was showing his flowhive... I thought that was amazing! What do you think of those?
I have two of them and I will be harvesting from them tomorrow. :-) It is a really great invention and I highly recommend them. However, i do not recommend paying 1000.00 for one. if you want one I suggest you build your own. Have a look at at this: ua-cam.com/video/tPdLojvoeYs/v-deo.html
@@BugFarmerBees No no no! I am not a bee keeper ;) I just enjoy watching your videos. I hate getting stung LOL Will be looking forward to watching that video. On the other channel, a lot of the guys were really against them. I think they wake your job so much easier!
Interesting and really curious to what your gonna do. Doing my first harvest tomorow, just gonna do frame 4. It's about 60 % capped. Great video! You ought take bets on monthly or annual stings. Annual I'm gonna guess 48 lol take care!
Make sure you film the harvest. I can't wait to see. Thanks for watching and WOW 48 stings! Just wait. I have a couple of videos in the can and you might be surprised. ;-)
Well, I actually found the queens since this video. One was above the queen excluder and the other below. It's all good now and videos are coming:-). I just don't understand why the workers didn't kill the other queen.?? Very curious.
Thanks for watching. The blue NUC survived their assault yesterday and are safe and sound in the Pink hive now. Updates are on the Bug Farmer Instagram page.
Don't bee nervous. They are just doing what they believe they should do. They are defending the hive. With the exception of the old red hive, :-) , I am the cause of the sting. Maybe I moved to quickly, or injured a bee, or didn't used enough smoke. Anyway, don't be nervous. :-) Thanks for watching.
You, my friend, are absolutely correct. The hive has been split into two hives. :-). Thanks for watching Freeeeedommmmmm Stackerrrrrr. I really appreciate you stopping by to have a look.
I wear gloves when the bees get angry but I prefer to work without them. I find that when I wear them I smash bees under my fingers which causes more bees to come after me. I need the feel the frames and bees under my fingers. It also forces me to go slow when I am generally an impatient person. Slow is always better in t a beehive. Thanks for stopping in today and taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate it. Take care.
I enjoy watching you all work with your hives, I’m learning a lot. Take care and have a blessed day.

Thanks David. It's funny, I keep seeing you on all the live streams I go to. Anyway, Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
That's crazy two Queens in one box
Hi Miss Canadian Scrapper! :-)

dropped my phone when you got Stung.

Maybe put Lemongrass oil on hands , they might not sting what smells like it could be home ? Or you could get swarmed ! Never mind
Sounds like the recipe for a viral video :-)
The sting o meter 😂

The blue neoprene gloves work well the bees don’t seem to be able to sting through them.
