What state are you located?
You KNOW as a subscriber im gonna watch the long video too, but enjoy these shorts too! This is how I found your channel.
that's crazy!! that it's a brand new head and you guys could make the tolerances even tighter and precise 🤯🤯🤯
Brand new doesn't mean it's good... 9 out of 10 have be made gooder... Even hi-performance(race) stuff I've had new Edelbrock heads that weren't straight on the deck...
This is what” just because it’s new, doesn’t mean it’s good”. Means
Shit, our runout tolerance on prefinished seats is .0008 max we make some of the toughest valve seats in the world
Keep up the great work! Just got a Honda B20 head done at a small, local head shop rather than the commercial one that’s also in town, you inspired me to support them seeing your work, and it turned out great!!
Yikes! This is why one double checks parts! Just assuming that's its new doesn't mean anything.
Hopefully they got the updated cam followers while they're in it.
TORRANCE RULES!
The same as aftermarket performance cylinder heads for gasoline applications.
I ultimately ended up only supplying three manufacturers' products during race/high performance engines built for customers.
To supply any other brands requiring complete re-machining of their products.
Man this work never seizes to amaze me. Such precision 👏
Man I watch almost all your videos all I can say is I wish there were more mechanics like y'all in the world keep it up always an out standing job
Going above and beyond - love it
its not above and beyond if your making the customer pay for it!
@@aloneinfinland while I'll agree to a extent. We live in a world where craftsmen are a dying breed and "it's good enough" is the more common theme
So much better than almost all of the other stupid vids on here.
This is art.
In high school working in a garage part time. One fine beautiful sunny day one of the mechanics who was doing a drum brake job was using a screw driver to remove a drum return spring when the stew driver slipped off the spring and went up into his eye. He lost the eye.
When I see individuals doing anything in a shop and they aren't wearing eye protection I think of this. I take shop courses at the local community college and college wide, the first thing you do when you walk into the shop is put on your safety glasses.....NO EXCEPTIONS.
The customer is going to feel power he has felt in some time! Nice work Junior
I'll take your word for it.
Fascinating stuff!
I like your videos this machine shop work is something I missed out on learning but you never know what the future holds keep up great work
Fascinating stuff each and every episode
Nice job ! Very careful and professional !
You guys are so dang good
Way cool video, love watching.
How does the cost and time balance off against a CAT Reman?
Same question.
From my experience, probably pretty well. Cat genuine reman stuff is extremely high quality (usually...I've been hearing rumors of some increasingly poor quality products) but it's 3 or 4 times as expensive as anyone else's equivalent.
@@mitchelldake7203unfortunately, yes. CAT heads and packs are nice quality but their fuel system components have taken a serious dive in quality
Great video series
Thank the EPA for keeping old engines running and people working their jobs. Yay
Don't have a clue what he's talking about,!!😅Lol...but
It sounds great because I love learning about new things...
Auto mechanics are some of the coolest professional jobs I've seen in the racing industry....great job
very well done bro nice work
BEAU fixed Engineering !! 💥💯💪
See ya in the South Cal ! ☝️👍😁
The setup takes the absolute longest!
I was wondering why you plugged the way passage through the head gasket. Then I realized that less holes in the head gasket means a stronger gasket with less points of failure.
Great Work 👽👍🏻✨
So you don't have to seat valves anymore?
The Certi is a very good machine, but I like the sun and I think it’s the VG 120 the pilots don’t turn when you’re making your cut on the seat you push the pilot in and then you bring the cutter down to it by doing that you have a more stable cutter remember that cutters gotta have room to be able to move around we know the still very good machine. I just think the sunen is better
You have all these high tech equipment and wouldn’t be able to weld the cracked head. The Pakistan Stone Age technicians weld the cracked engine head and cylinder bock , by preheating with dried cow manure and then welding with nickel .Actually they do an amazing job 😂
Yes
Very cool
Where you guys at? I need some work done I live in Pueblo co
I want to get one of those valve spring compressors!!
Ive got one and its the only way to go
Nice
Where can I buy one of the valve spring compressors?
Whered you get the air compressor?
Overall will there be a noticeable difference with the performance? Does this help get more power out of an engine, higher efficiency, longer life? Genuinely curious as to the added benefits to take the time to get a tighter tolerance. Have only been introduced to machining from your shorts mostly
Are heads always jink aftrr they crack? Or can thry be welded??
Good tools vallseat deep Gage. What mm clirience sir this head
You guys do diesel engines for semi truck ?
Can you work a 280zx turbo head and block?
Thats awesome. Who do you buy your aftermarket parts from?
They said where the parts came from.
@@Dfk429S9fo3 you cant buy directly from most manufacturers like IPD. im asking who he bought from, not who makes it!
It's not generally to hard for good machinists to improve even new parts.
What about the other head on that V12 ?
I'm not a diesel guy, I'm curious, why do they turn the valvetrain 45*?
Did the same mistake on an overhaul.
Just exactly how does someone trash the head on a Cat engine that bad?!? 🤔
MUITO BONITO E PARCIALMENTE CERTO. Um pouco fora da realidade Técnica.
I have no idea about any of the things in the vid, how much did a job like that cost? 1k? 10k? 10m? $20?
В Пакистане без измерительных приборов делают
How were the valve seats so oval( run out)?? That is some crappy machining from the head supplier.
إنها عمال جدا جدانا❤❤❤
This is Einstein stuff.
What’s with the ketchup
Nobody's that smart
Bro it's almost unfair
Hi... like to know where u got the valve seat run out tool to check concentricity of the guide to the seat... or who makes it... thanks
Probably Serdi, search for "seat runout indicator" and you'll find many...
So exactly what parts did u reuse from the old head? Springs and retainers? Would have been faster to put on a reman head. If seat runout was within spec why mess with it at all. This isn't a race engine, customer wants the truck making money asap.
Is it common to lap valves on stuff like this or is that just a gas engine thing
You lap the valves to see where the seat is. It’s not just a gas engine thing it’s any head with valves.
You don’t Lap the new valves
You find where the valve face and face of the seat meet. You’re not trying to remove material.
All that labor,,,, and the driver forget change the engine oil on time,,,, 😅😅😅😅
Aren't all Cat heads cracked between the valve seats?
Yes , seat to seat is perfectly normal .
I hate IPD! good work though!
why do you hate IPD?
C-12..........just find a dumpster and dump it.
How is that new bear head so terrible when it comes to run out? Thats terrible.
Because it’s made in China.
Аааа візьміть мене на роботу по ремонту двигунів.
Shows the lousy quality of an aftermarket head, they bang them out quick....
translation, the new part was withing spec and working fine, but we wanter to charge hiom a fuck tonne more labour, so we made a video trying to justify it....
Sounds like you should of done the OEM and left it alone.
Proper procedure:
1. CLEAN AND INSPECT
2. NOTIFY CUSTOMER OF ALL FINDINGS AND SUGGEST LEVEL OF REPAIR
3. GET CUSTOMER APPROVAL BEFORE ORDERING PARTS.
SIMPLE!
Doubt it, you blew the head with a shitty valve kit, then ordered a cheap defective cylinder head that you "machined it close enough" and charged them for every step on the way.
Didn't wonder one little bit. I guess half a thow on the runout?
K factor g money
Those cracks won't cause any harm there is no water jacket in there...
How much does a job like this cost
