Upon reflection I would like to update this list and put Freyr at number 1: HE'S JUST A GUY WITH A STICK! THIS IS A TERRIBLE ULTIMATE PERSONA FOR AYASE!
Bad taste. He's the best ultimate Persona.
All these other Persona need all them fancy weapons to do anything. Freyr knows the might of a stick knows no bounds.

Yes. The entire point of Gorokichi is that he is gaudy. Infact all of the third tiers are in some shape of form movie-esque, sleeker, or gaudy. They're meant to represent the original persona unmasked. And there's tons of symbolism. Enough for an essay. But in short they're meant to represent the real counterpart, the not legend, the not-rebel. Someone who stops rebelling against a harsh reality and face it head-on with the best they can be.
You got the point , at First I didn't like Gorokichi but after using it I started loving it so much

I personally like Nemesis since of how symbolic it is, yeah it may look ridiculous but the circular saw represents how destructive and never ending revenge can be.
And, also, Nemesis' symbol is a broken wheel
and the eyes being near the chest and not on the face could represent ken acting the way his heart thinks, instead of using his head.

I was not aware that Jiraiya was a hated Persona lol I thought most folks loved the Disco Ninja Frog.
That is weird; I see a lot of love in so many groups for that one. The most hated persona I usually see is usually just towards anything Teddie gets or a few times about Naoto
@@strain42 You would be surprised....Funnily enough, I don't really like the second stage persona, Susano. Kinda bland. Takehaya Susano tho, now THAT is Persona I can get behind.

I actually prefer Nemesis's design to Kala Nemi. I still think Nemesis is leagues better than Polydeuces personally. I would even go as far to say I like Nemesis.
Nemesis is kind of perfect for Ken with it being edgy as hell and goofy as shit, whereas Kala-nemi just looks dumb.

Polydeuces looks like if someone combined a Big Daddy and Little Sister together.....I think I know where Bioshock got their inspiration from
I always really liked anat because it kind of represents how Makoto has started to face her problems instead of running away, thus it not being a motorcycle anymore

Oh I've been calling him that since 2012 XD but it was nice to finally work it into a video.
I find it so interesting. I never would've thought that Anat was so divisive. I guess I lived in a vaccuum cause I loved her design and assumed everyone else would be more positive on it. If anything, since she was the first ultimate persona I got, I was wrongfully under the impression that each one of the cast's ultimate persona's would behave in a similar way. Literally transforming from their previous one. So honestly I was disappointed that it wasn't the case. As for her 3rd awakening, since I loved her 1st awakening, I ended up severely disappointed with how she turns back into a bike. It felt like a regression instead of an evolution considering her initial design. Interesting take though! Glad to see a vastly different list then my own! Great video!
That's a really interesting point about Gorokichi. I'm not a massive fan of the design either I prefer Susana O and Goemon. Definitely agree with most of this list especially Polydeuces. God that thing is ugly.

Gorokichi is ok but i feel like it was a downgrade from yusukes second persona.

Personally, Susano-o is pretty bland to me, too. It sucks, because in terms of aesthetic, Goemon is in contention to take the top spot alongside Arsène, Loki, and Raoul.
God I definitely agree with Yusuke's third tier persona. It doesn't help that I LOVE Kamui Susanooh. Though I like Anat, it just sucks it takes away what's unique about Makoto's persona. And I actually like Nemesis more than Ken's ultimate persona lol
This list reminds me that I want Jojo RPGs.
And for them to be released outside Japan.

If I recall correctly, Yukino's initial Persona Design in Persona 2 is based on a lighter under the same brand; hence the gears and the holes like a lighter.. You know how it is with lighters lol
Even though I love Yusuke so much since he is my favorite Persona character and I do like Goemon and Kamu Sussano-o I was heavy disappointed with Gorokichi mainly the design(worst 3rd tier Persona in P5R) because of that I gave Gorokichi the nickname “Pimpsona”

Both of Ken's personas just look ridiculous, they can best be described as steampunk pizzacutter and electrified pencil sharpener.
The only Persona I personally hate is Carmen. Not for design reasons though. I just hate how Carmen doesn't fit Ann at all for a Persona. Both are beautiful yes. But if you take into consideration how Carmen is in the novel she is from. She doesn't fit Ann much outside of beauty. Carmen in the novel she was from used men because she could and was overall a bitch. While, Ann while she does use her beauty to her advantage. She didn't use it in the same as Carmen or toy with men in the same way as Carmen. I would have honestly, switched her Persona to another famous beautiful woman from classic literature. But honestly, I just want more Personas and demons from classic literature that are in the public domain.
Raffles Lovecraft & Friends It’s more just used as symbolism of what Ann believes is rebellion and if you think of it that way it makes more sense and there are slight similarities between the two even if not many, it’s enough to establish a connection.

Like if I had to pick another free spirit similar to Carmen from literature and another gypsy at that.
Esmerelda from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo would have been a better choice.
Also considering how two of the themes in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is justice and that you shouldn't judge based off of appearances . It would have looped back better to Persona 5 and Ann herself.

My least favorite is Raoul, because it's got the worst unlock method possible.
Ayase is simply put, my favorite persona character. Lol. And Hyouri is a great symbolic persona that captures her perfectly, while her final persona holds some connection as well. But stylistically speaking.....it's a bit boring....

I know right! When I first lvl up her social link max and got Amaterasu.... I was like "What is this...?"
I feel like they could have give her a face and have like goddess like clothes than just gold lady with equipments...
A theory is that P4 was developed with a tight budget so the ultimates designs were resorted to minor changes on the initial personas.
though to b fair you gave Ken some good credit ^w^ i actually really like Ken and use him a lot when i play P3P
Well, with Nemesis almost immediately being replaced, it's... Fine, I guess?
Persona 3 main cast had the coolest looking Persona designs overall as a team but I felt like they lacked a lot of Personality, uniqueness, and charm that 4 and 5 had. Afterall, Personas are the manifestation of a person's personality and other things.
I’d like to theorize that persona awakenings in p3 are moreso about manifesting a way to protect yourself from the world/shadows. It’s the mask these humans put on to feign strength. Such as Akihiko’s polydeuces being a tough guy who fights with hand to hand combat. Mitsuru using her cold nature from Artemicia to hide her vulnerability. And yukiko acting as a popular and caring young girl who heals the party, when she’s keeping lies and plotting revenge.
Man idk everyone seems to hate nemesis but ever since I saw it it’s been my favorite, I literally remember seeing nemesis for the first time and thinking “holy shit this is cool”
I usually dislike the third tier personas as they just combine the first and second one to try to make them crazy. Most of P5 third tier look so unappealing to me in my opinion.
Makes P4 third-tier personas better looking in comparison strangely?
The fact that the P5 third-tiers largely go back to the original's animations makes it seem all the more like a regression.
I thought P5R’s third tiers were fine for the most part as Gorokichi was a bit much for me as well. I really only like 2 of the P4 third tiers and that’s Takehaya Susano-O and Haraedo-no-Okami.
I've always really liked Anat, and was one of the people who was actually disappointed by the third tier Persona "upgrade" taking away the transforming aspect. I get why people wouldn't like Anat's design, but I do. I've always kinda thought the whole "motorcycle Persona" was kind of dumb (not "bad," just "dumb").
Also, yeah, I just... really dig Gorokichi because he feels like the goofier side of Yakuza had a baby with the art of Jojo. It's so dumb, but in all the best ways.
Nemesis' design is crap though, I am 100% there with you on that one.
Most of The personas on this list I really like since this series is so near and dear to my heart if anything I only dislike Yukiko’s Amaterasu it felt like the designers just got lazy

With Strikers included my least favorite Persona design-wise...is Sophie's Pandora. Compared to how intricately designed every other Phantom Theif's Persona is, including Zenkichi who got some amazingly badass, Sophie's felt a bit too...simple...Come on, could we have kept the floating pillars in the design SOMEWHERE?!
But the pillars are there, in her neck
Point is though. Compare Sophie's persona to every other Phantom Theif. Where would you rank Pandora compared to the others design wise, including Zenkichi.

Polydeuces is one of my least favorite as well to me it’s just very bland and doesn’t stick out. Caesar is amazing though. And for Yusuke I can admit I like his second tier Kamu Susano-O more than his third tier Gorokichi. Anat is just meh for me don’t hate it or like it really. I don’t really like Take-Mikazuchi or any of its palette swaps, as much as I love Kanji I think his persona looks terrible.
Take-Mikazuchi to me is my go-to example of a Persona that is "...Fine." like when I think of my favorite Personas, there's usually something to it beyond simply its design, but with Take-Mikazuchi, it looks neat, and belongs to one of my all time favorite characters, so whenever I try to think of an example of a Persona I'm just neutral towards, it's Take-Mikazuchi, the Persona that I think is just...fine lol
I finally find someone who doesn’t like polydeuces and gorokichi and they put a personal favorite in the top slot, god dammit.
I can only assume, since Ken is a child, a menacing robot is what Nemesis to him.
I think Gorokichi is so cool. If anything, I think Yusuke's Susanoo is so much worse

It's been forever since I've played, but I'm pretty sure you just hang out with them in January after maxing their Social Link.
I personally like Amaterasu, I think the simplification works in its favour. You're portraying one of the most important characters in Japanese mythology, so going for a silhouette to showcase a sense of mystery works there well. Plus, the ornamental steel feathers and katana really do keep a sense of complexity and continuity from Konohana-Sakuya.
Yeah, i absolutely love Gorokichi's design. A pimp with a massive deliquent blue pompadour, Squirtle sunglasses and a comically large cigarette it's my type of ridiculous. But i understand how it can be kinda of jarring/disappointing coming from his previous form.
I thought Nemesis looked pretty okay (if inaccurate) on the portraits/artwork. Then I saw the thing in-motion... Yeah, it's pretty bad.
ngl when I played P4G for the first time and Yukiko got Amaterasu, I immediately shouted "BALD!! BALD!!"
The personas i hate in terms of design are just two. What the hell happened to teddie's persona and nemesis.

Honestly I like Nemesis, because she reminds me of a Gungman from Gurren Lagann. She even has the chest face, the weird overthetop gimmick and she looks like a Mecha. So fore me Nemesis might acually be my favrite of the initial SEES member Personas
I feel like Prometheus should be an honorable mention. Its such a downgrade from literal UFO and... The god of fire is some kinda orb...? At least the star wars spaceship futaba gets as a third tier is also some sorta flying vehicle but Prometheus just doesnt fit futaba lore wise, design wise, and all other wise...

Nemesis looks pretty cool. It pulls off the mechanical Persona nicely. Now Orpheus on the other hand, is probably the worst protagonist Persona in terms of design. At least Thanatos makes up for it by being really impressive and intimidating, instead of looking like some Pinocchio robot or whatever Orpheus was trying to be. Yes, I know the backstory for it. But gosh, Orpheus looks like the kind of toy robot that always falls over when you try and stand it up.
If it wasnt nemesis in this list, i would be disapointed

Ken's persona looks like it comes from Gurren Lagann
One of my personal least favorites and letdowns would be Isis, Yukaris's ultimate persona, I loved the design and story of Io and it was fitting for Yukari. But then she became Isis which, yes is great lore wise, but I just cant get over how ugly the design is to me

my list is, in no specific order:
Ogun: I know it´s design makes sensse because he is a Yoruba god, but i´ve never being a fan of it, when I see it in the game it looks pretty goofy.
Yamaoka in P2: The concept is good, but the design is hilarius to me, is a futuristic surfer butler.
Vesta in P2: Basically the same that Strain said. Luckly Durga is awesome.
Asterius: If it was an SMT demon I would be ok with it´s design. But as a Persona feels out of place to me, it doesn´t looks like a Persona.
Rhadamanthus: I can´t help it but chukle when I see the steer on his crotch, also, it looks like the dumb brother of Highway Star from JoJo.
Amaterasu: Once again, same as what Strain said.
Kamui-Moshiri: Kamui already was too much for me, but Moshiri takes it to another level with the misile.
Castor: My first impresion when I saw him was WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPOSED TO BE?
Paladion: Aigis is my favorite character in P3 by far, but her initial persona felt kinda bland to me, specially compared to the rest of the cast. Good thing that Athena kicks ass.
*this last one is a spoiler off P5R*
Ella: Is not a bad desgin, but going from the cristal blue of Cendrillon to the intense red of Vanadis but finishing with pure white feels like a downgrade from the first two, almost like Amaterasu.
Asterius ALMOST made this list. It does seem weird as a Persona, but that's not even why I don't like it. I just don't like how many hoops they had to send the writers through to even establish that it IS a Persona. It genuinely doesn't make much sense. To me, Asterius being a Persona is like if the 8-Bit Warrior that surrounds Shadow Mitsuo is a Persona, or if Shadow Kanji's two buff dude minions are Personas. It's just weird.

I'm gonna side with the people who don't like Gorokichi. It's not that I don't like the design, it's that I don't think it fits Yuskue whatsoever. All of the other Third tier personas feel like they represent the character who wields them in some shape or from. Gorokichi looks like a fucking pimp. Out of all the possibilites, I don't see why this representes Yuskue. If anyone has an answer as to why, I'd like to hear it. Honeslty, I feel like the could have went with a sort of artist motif, with the pipe blade being replaced with a paintbrush. And maybe the coat could have been like an artist's smock covered in paint. I dunno, i'm just spit balling.
I really don’t like the third awakening personas from P5R, they feel like a lazy addition that takes away from the idea of a second awakening.

IMO Chile’s first persona is one of the worst in the series because of how damn ugly it is.
Worst non-main character personas, there is aways the frog baal and the tit goddess.

My list is every persona 2 base persona there just uh uhhh uhhhhhh there just not good base personas the awakened personas should have been the base personas and then awaken into something cooler except maia Maia is good
Ok, but is Anát worse than the Pope-Bike? Seriously Johanna was probably the worst persona I’ve ever seen, and it’s not as if I like her wielder at all either, so no points for her being worst girl’s persona.

All of makotos personas are poorly designed. The only thing good about Agnes is her color scheme.
