Playing safe around Powerlines

  • Have you ever heard the saying "You must have been raised near powerlines". As a kid I heard a parent say that to a kid at a baseball game and I always wondered what that meant. To me, I thought powerlines would be a great place to live. They sounded really cool with all their constant buzzing and just maybe I'd grow up to have some superpower like electric shock hands. As I got older I've realized just how dumb kids, in particular me, could be.
Those very powerlines, a vital part of our infrastructure are the reason we are able to see in our homes at night, keep our food cold, and even watch UA-cam. However, those same powerlines are just as suspectible to mother nature as humans are. Where there are trees and powerlines in close proximity to each other, there is apt to be maintainence and repair needed. Whether from a storm blowing a tree branch into a line or something else, where trees are involved you better believe Arborists are nearby.
Arborists require a special certification to work around powerlines. They call that certification Line Clearance Certified. Many of our arborists are LCC but one in particular has been doing it before coming to Seattle Tree Care and he really knows his stuff. Follow along as you hear from Mike about some of the precautions, methods and advice he has while he shows one of our newest crew, Devon, the ropes. Or rather the powerlines.

Maybe I should buy some insulated tools. 🤔 I don't want to become crispy! 🙂 Thanks for the video.

I love the No parking sign, with the date and time, and the day of, parked right under the tree🤣I had that all the time in the Portland Oregon streets.

🤣 What I kept out of this video was the giant pain that car made this job by being parked there. Instead of being able to just prune the tree and let it fall, the ground person had to play center field to keep the car dent-free.
