@nottinghampokerpro not to mention the ball has to be pitched within a rather small zone to be counted as legit - no yorkers, bouncers, body line, just juicy full tosses all day long.
I have read that cricket deaths average 11 a year worldwide. Mostly at much lower levels of the game, mostly youngsters and a large number of them from fielding very close to the bat, rather than from being hit by bowlers. I hope things have improved since I read that.
@ahtartersauce101 true but for hongkong sixes tournament they use a half cork half leather ball but we still do not use gloves and also the cricket ball has a seam that cut the hand and i have cut my hand when bowling spin still we don't wear gloves also when u play spin the ball spins more from the cricket bat than baseball
@shitassfulone The ball still comes faster cuz teh bat technically bends backwards and pushes like tennis racket strings, but for the gloves, I think it was a way to speed up the game, cuz the games would last for days without gloves, and we can also add flash to our plays cuz that's how we are, and I'm guessing since we have to throw the ball to other people really frickin hard and usually without a bounce, we then decided that all the players were wicketkeepers of their bases.
I got hit on the foot a couple of times in the nets and that was painful enough. I used to be very worried about getting one in the groin because we didn't have any protection for our man area.
Need the one of Daniel Flynn from NZ getting hit in the visor vs England, and his tooth flying out after the ball strikes him. All caught in super slow mo
Too right. Robin Smith rates his favourite innings as one against the West Indies when they broke his jaw, of course he carried on. Forget which test - could be the one shown in this video.
@shitassfulone Because the ball technically comes faster off of the bat and with more spin than cricket, because baseballs have cork in the middle with cowhide and leather while cricket balls have just pure leather all over. So the reation time and speed of the ball can't be caught by bare hands unless you want to break a hand. And baseball scores would be just off the chart without gloves especially when the batters run on every hit ball so a glove ensures possession to throw someone out.
you know its quite odd that it was Larwood who was banned for bowling 'Bodyline' even though he acted on the instructions of Douglas Jardine and by extension the MCC themselves and to top it all of Larwood emigrated here and his and his wifes ashes are intered in Kingsford in New South Wales
@kinggimped He also got his cheek smashed in by Ian Bishop in the 95(i think) series against the West Indies. He had to retire as but apparently after coming back from the hospital would have come back out to bat again! After this he started to wear a grill, he must have been one of the last batsmen to do such a thing. Nowadays batsmen have no fear of the ball. Look at the way tailenders bat today compared to the 80s/90s.........
The thing is there was an unsaid rule between bowlers that they don't bounce each other - as they aren't established batsmen. Shame they don't follow that kinda rule these days - takes away from the spirit of the game. Although with helmets I guess it's less dangerous.
i just wonder how the hell Sunil Gavaskar used to play without helmet and the west indian bowler in his time were demons by size as well in quality fast bowling?
Anyone notice Robin Smith didnt even rub where he got hit, just took a deep breath and practiced the shot he shoulda played. Then he gets one in the mouth and says he's fine. Hard as nails.
I knew a guy who went into bat without a box on. He got hit by a quickie in the nads and, well, to cut a long story short, one of his balls burst out of his nutsack. Blood everywhere. Took five operations to reconnect him with his manhood. Now that's pain.
That happened once man it was painful my underwear had to be taken off and lots of ice. Then the bat ended up getting stuck in underwear and then i almost got wedgied when i putted ice.... Painful :'(
i got hit in the groin,I broke my nose n I got hit in the ribs.....it's definetly very painful.....but its an awsome game.Cant imagine seeing myself staying away from this marvellous game.
@whatthehecksores cricket balls are harder and heavyer than baseballs and go as high at times and hit as hard, so u tell me why baseball player have to wear gloves and cricketers dont?? :-)
I can think of some other nasty instances which have happened fairly recently. Kiwi Daniel Flynn catching one right in the mouth from Jimmy Anderson and ofcourse aussie tough guy Ponting stoping the ball at silly point with his face
Oh and another thing - you get hit in this game, you don't get to 'walk' like you do in baseball. You just get a lot of lip from the fielders and you get on with it.
I have never seen anyone take bouncers to the body like a champ, like Robin Smith did. The guy must have a whole fuckload of craters on his torso, with a majority of them coming from Windies bowlers
where is wild shoaib Akhatar Rawalpindi Express attackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk with out Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar younis, Waseem Akram etc any that kind of video is incomplete
@daXroflXcopta A cricket ball is rock solid and trust me its definitely not rubber...A school friend of mine got hit on the head by a cricket ball while fielding at short leg with no helmet and he suffered short term memory loss and now he never wants to go near a cricket field or ball for that matter. Go buy a cricket ball and get someone to throw it to your face....trust me you will regret writing that ill-informed comment of yours!!!
Its so tragic watching this video now knowing the worst was still yet to come.
R.I.P Phil Hughes
"Caused him a problem..... or two" 😂😂😂😂😂 love Ritchie Benaud
"...caused him a problem...or two..." Love Benaud, legend.
Waqars fast delivery hitting Tendulkars nose & bleeding.
Ha gotta love Ritchie at the end there!
I remember watching that match when Harmison bounced Ponting and made him bleed. Great bit of short pitched fast bowling it was as well!!
Great Video Dude.Wish it was longer.
@nottinghampokerpro

1:23 is that bell edited in or in the background? good timing nonetheless :)
@nakullll yeah, just ask bradman after hitting pitch after pitch over the fence, he walked of saying "anyone can hit full tosses"
@davenavarroforpm well said...very true..ponting is the toughest,bravest batsman and has an exceptional pull shot to counter short pitched bowling...
I'm still in splits HAHA!! Benaud the legend.
0:50 was that Kevin Petersen
"Caused him a problem ... or two" Brilliant!
i played baseball growing up, then switched to cricket. They are NOT the same..completely diff sports
@shitassfulone

Wow! I have seen Van Troost first time bowling just because of this video.
I got hit on the foot a couple of times in the nets and that was painful enough. I used to be very worried about getting one in the groin because we didn't have any protection for our man area.
the face on the ump in the last one is priceless
Need the one of Daniel Flynn from NZ getting hit in the visor vs England, and his tooth flying out after the ball strikes him. All caught in super slow mo
Too right. Robin Smith rates his favourite innings as one against the West Indies when they broke his jaw, of course he carried on. Forget which test - could be the one shown in this video.
Apparently when Gus Logie got hit his mum was watching and was so shocked she had a heart attack and died
Dam😢
@shitassfulone

Anyone remember the Ewan Chatfield incident, when he was dead and the revived him twice?
that one there at 2:31...is that the one from Bodyline where Bert Oldfield egded one into his face from Larwood and cracked his skull? looks like it
you know its quite odd that it was Larwood who was banned for bowling 'Bodyline' even though he acted on the instructions of Douglas Jardine and by extension the MCC themselves and to top it all of Larwood emigrated here and his and his wifes ashes are intered in Kingsford in New South Wales
you guys want to read up about Bert Sutcliffe, 1953. South Africa vs New Zealand. Then we'll see how much courage it takes to face fast bowling.
@kinggimped He also got his cheek smashed in by Ian Bishop in the 95(i think) series against the West Indies. The Bodyline series would have to be the most dangerous period of cricket ever

haha yeah I guess, my mum just did an interview with im for our local newspaper she works with, hes really nice
in the last clip listen to the commentator .. after thorpe being hit on the box he is saying ' caused him a problem or TWO ' LOL
Its certainly Larwood, so I think your right there.
@ahtartersauce101 why do u guys wear gloves to catch the ball
mark waugh bowling medium pace :O
The thing is there was an unsaid rule between bowlers that they don't bounce each other - as they aren't established batsmen. Shame they don't follow that kinda rule these days - takes away from the spirit of the game. Although with helmets I guess it's less dangerous.
@bagsmohess couldn't agree with u more on that...
i just wonder how the hell Sunil Gavaskar used to play without helmet and the west indian bowler in his time were demons by size as well in quality fast bowling?

Now that's pain.
In which sport you can't be hurt
@MrFuliskgreeks cork with leather coating
he got the helmet of the batsman crashed into his face...thats gotta hurt.
@2:27, Am I bleeding mate??
That happened once man it was painful my underwear had to be taken off and lots of ice. Then the bat ended up getting stuck in underwear and then i almost got wedgied when i putted ice.... Painful :'(

2:15, Ponting what a legend, gets hit and doesn't even realize that he's bleeding...
The Graham Thorpe one at the end gives a whole new meaning to the expression getting bowled middle stump .... crap joke yeah I know!!!
haha just check out the last sec where commentator saya " that coused him problem OR TWO" .. couse it hit on his ball guard...
Robin Smith - Legend

That caused him a problem......... or two.......
@kushal: you can't be much of a keeper!
I can't believe they used to play without helmets.
1:01 why does the wicky get s upset??

i got hit in the groin,I broke my nose n I got hit in the ribs.....it's definetly very painful.....but its an awsome game.Cant imagine seeing myself staying away from this marvellous game.

I m sure batsmen used to piss themselves while playing him!
how tough is ricky ponting :)))
You shouldn't. You should love to see him get out instead.
Oh and another thing - you get hit in this game, you don't get to 'walk' like you do in baseball. You just get a lot of lip from the fielders and you get on with it.
I really don't know why they make the balls out of wood or rock seriously.
cricket can be hazardous if u intend to have children
@rockondudes6 HAHA i really dont know either some dude :P
All the Australians in this video take it like men, especially Lawry with no helmet.
watch ewen chatfield peter lever bouncer for bad
wtf???????????
I have never seen anyone take bouncers to the body like a champ, like Robin Smith did. The guy must have a whole fuckload of craters on his torso, with a majority of them coming from Windies bowlers

@daXroflXcopta A cricket ball is rock solid and trust me its definitely not rubber...A school friend of mine got hit on the head by a cricket ball while fielding at short leg with no helmet and he suffered short term memory loss and now he never wants to go near a cricket field or ball for that matter.
