Guys, this is the best video out there and that the gentleman said to start at the bottom of the fob. I tried with a screwdriver, but I thought I was going to break it. He was able to do his just fine, so that’s worth a try. I was using a big screwdriver, and I thought I was going to break it. I took a standard kitchen butter, knife, pried it up under the cloth loop at the bottom and was very careful and patient and it popped right open. Absolutely no damage at all to the fob. Thank you sir for this great video and for saving us all 25 to 30 bucks.
Thanks for posting, sir. At first I thought the flat blade screwdriver was a bit hamfisted for this, but I used that exact same screwdriver. That case is pretty stiff and snug. Using a traditional spudger would just result in a bent spudger. Maybe a dull utility blade would work, but if you are careful with the flat blade screwdriver, you can do it without goobering up the plastic.
I hate being told I can't do something. I knew, as soon as I pulled up "customer support" that they would say "you can't replace the battery" Thank you for show me how.

SS will replace the key fob for free if you have monthly monitoring
Thank you very much. You just saved me $25 on an order I was able to cancel from this morning. Since I have about 30 of the 2032 batteries it was a great size for my need. Much obliged.
Thanks Cody. My keyfob somehow got messed up. It's not pairing with the system. I called them and ran through numerous troubleshooting. They ended up sending me a refurbished one. I am here originally looking for how to pair the "new" key to the system. But, yeah, next time if I need a new battery, i will do the way you did it. Very helpful.
Thanks so much. Your instructions work perfectly. I would mention, in case someone doesn't watch when they take theirs apart, that the bottom of the battery faces the same side the fob buttons are on. Also, I didn't have to reprogram mine.
This is really helpful. But can you clarify what you mean by "bottom" of the battery? Is the top the side that has writing on it (+)? And the bottom is the side without any writing (-)?
Thought my FOB battery was dead. After watching your video I realized my system got scrambled last week and thought as a result the FOB was disconnected. In fact that was the issue. Paired and all good.
Thanks for this video Cody. I swapped my wife's over and done in under 5 minutes. luckily i didn't have to reconnect mine. worked great after battery swap.
Thanks for the video. My remote was getting sluggish. I was initially trying access from the side as well. The few scars that I made are not as bad as the few tooth marks from puppy Oscar. I learned to keep things out of his reach.
In my case the battery went the other way around, oddly. And to pair, you go to Devices, Add Device, and choose a key fob (it will have you hold the panic button for 2 seconds). Wish this has been in the info here, but otherwise great video!
Just replaced the battery in my wife's fob, thanks for the video and the tip that it needs to be re-paired, even though that's kind of silly. Haven't they heard of NVRAM? :P
Bro you got your positives and negatives mixed up on your video!! also you have to delete the old fob before you can add the new one get your stuff together homie.. good video tho

Thanks, I did this once and couldn't remember how I went about it, so this video was helpful in not having to purchase a new remote.

Thanks a lot. Your tips are awesome and save me the trouble on how to open it. I would have opened it from the side. Now I know what battery it uses.

Worked like a charm, thanks for posting. I would have attacked the sides, but your video save me from my own ignorance 😎

Thanks for posting this! Took me a minute to get the battery out, however finally! Success!! 😊
I got mine replaced and it just worked! Awesome video, thanks!!
Thank you! You saved my SS fob!
That's so cool. Thanks for making this video
Thanks for posting this, very halpful.
I used a 1/4" wood chisel which worked great to slip in enough to pry it open. Paired it and job complete.
Thanks for the video, mine did not have to be reprogramed. As soon as the new battery went in it started working.
Thank you 😊 your video was very helpful
Thanks...saved me some time figuring this out myself
Great video, I almost ordered a new Key Fob. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your video, I really appreciate you 😊
Thank you - was able to fairly easily replace my battery and not have to order new fob!
Thank you for this! Super easy

Thank you! This worked for me! 😊
Perfect, thanks for the how to, replaced my battery super easy. Any easier would be an actual design for this. .........(?)
worked great! thank you!
Awesome!!!!!❤
You have to "remove/delete" the old keyfob from the system, then "add" it again.
This worked for me. Perfect..
How did you pair it

Planned obsolecence. I cannot beleive they intended it so that the "battery could not be replaced".
Thanks for the info. How long has the battery lasted since it needed to be replaced?
mine lasted 2 years. Thanks for watching.
mmm the 2032; or as I like to call it, the Snark battery.

Its ridiculous that they put their customers through this.
OH Man, why didn't you show us how to pair it to the system? Watch this other UA-cam.... Simplisafe Key Fob Battery Replacement, by Wally Kukowski
