just recently started taking ASL, i’m pretty far into it now but every time I watch this i’m blown away by how fast she signs A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R H-A-M-I-L-T-O-N
Think that this perfectly accents the difference between ASL and spoken English, the way you sign the meaning instead of the words for a lot of this is amazing and beautiful.
Years later and this is still my FAVORITE cover of Alexander Hamilton. No matter how many times I hear the song your proper ASL signs and facial expressions come right to the forefront of my memory every single time. Yes I do consider this a cover and anytime someone loves Hamilton enough to have this song play on their playlist ....I share this video even of they don't know ASL because you are that epic at interpretation (both with the lyrics AND with the music). I admit I need to watch your other videos, but I can't help but watch this one on repeat every single time because the way you finger spell Alexander Hamilton at the end ....it just gives me CHILLS. I love this version that much
This is mesmerizing to watch. I also love that I can understand what I'm seeing (I'm trying to relearn ASL) with only a few repetitions. You don't go too fast or too slow- you match the time perfectly :)
I love seeing how she sets up Alex to the left and then references him. And seeing how she spells out his name, and then creates the abbreviation that will be his name going forward. Thank you so much for this video.
I'm learning ASL (intermediate-advanced at the moment) with an eye toward becoming an interpreter. This is one of the best song interpretations I've seen. I can't stop watching it! (And it's not the song itself -- I'm the one person in the world who hasn't seen or heard Hamilton yet.) I love the way you balance those moments where you have to, well, interpret rather than word-for-word, and then turn that into something that flows so gracefully into the next sign. This is some of the most impressive accurate AND lovely/artful signing interpretation I've seen, and I spend an embarrassing amount of time watching ASL interpretation videos. Thank you so much for this!!
I’m hearing and just started learning ASL but I am actually curious to what exactly she is signing. Like you know how you type something into google translate in say English and it translates it to like Latin then you translate it back sometimes it isn’t the same. So I wonder what the exact wording she signed out is. (I also understand that ASL doesn’t exactly follow the same grammar rules)
Every time I listen to any tracks in Hamilton I think about how amazing it would be in ASL with the rhythm and power and today I'm so glad I decided to look it up. Cause damn
This is freaking amazing! I'm and ASL student and I LOVE this musical, i was actually recently wondering if there were any videos of people signing the songs and then this popped. Your movements mirrored and enhanced the song so beautifully. I love this.
Hi Sarah Tubert, thanks for this! I'm deaf and able to hear so your ASL really wow... You did wonderful job with that song! Keep it up Sarah!
I GOT CHILLS. I love how you groved to the beat of the music!!!
OH MY GOSH AM I OKAY
I'm almost in tears this is absolutely amazing. Earned a subscriber in one video.
I can't stop watching this, it's so amazing!!! I know a little of my country's SL and the signs I know are very different, but the emotion is internationally perfect 💕
Wow! Thanks for showing how great this is in any language!! You’re awesome!
This is such a good cover of the song. I'm learning ASL right now and I saw some signs done differently than how I learned them but I could easily learn this song from this video. This is done so well!
I can't wait to do this for my ASL final!
Thank you for sharing this and making me fall in love with Hamilton all over again.
The way that it went with the beat of the song makes it even more awesome. I'd love to see more of Hamilton and over other musicals in ASL.
I seriously admire you and hope that I can sign even 1/10th of the amazingness you do. Thank you!
