- Paul Hindemith (1895-1963): Concerto for Woodwinds, Harp and Orchestra (1949): III. Rondo: Rather fast - Pesante
In this video flutis Stathis Karapanos together with accompanying artists, Jörg Widmann (clarinet), Stephan Schweigert (bassoon), Céline Moinet (oboe) and Marie-Pierre Langlamet (harp) together with the Konzerthaus Berlin Chamber Orchestra led by Sayako Kusaka, perform the final movement from Hindemith's concerto.
Writing in the manner of a concerto grosso, Hindemith set four solo woodwinds and the harp in opposition to a little orchestra consisting of five brass instrumentalists and strings and let the instrumental groups vie with each other. Hindemith created a transparent orchestral sound through the use of a reduced number of musicians and with the polyphonic design of the three movements.
The solo clarinet weaves Wedding March from Mendelssohn’s overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Op. 21 into the contrapuntal play of the four solowind instruments in the last movement.

Bravo! Fantastic music; one of my favorite pieces from Hindemith. I hope you upload the other 2 movements.
Such a fun piece! Brilliantly played by all!
