The House of Representatives has just passed a bill to stop the federal reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency. The bill passed the chamber pretty much along party lines. Proponents of the bill argue a central bank digital currency would threaten Americans' financial privacy. Meanwhile democrats say the bill will hold back American innovation.
The U.S. Justice Department and more than two dozen states on Thursday sued to break up Live Nation, arguing the big concert promoter and its Ticketmaster unit illegally inflated concert ticket prices and hurt artists.
Norfolk Southern agreed to pay a $15 million civil penalty and $57.1 million in past government cleanup costs on Thursday, as well as millions in future costs to resolve a U.S. government lawsuit over a February 2023 train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio.
Now they should go one step further and vote the central bank out of the system !

There is zero justification for a government controlled digital currency. Zero.
There is a reason, right now banks use national debt to settle accounts NOT the US dollar. China (and Russia) doesn't want external debt so they like the idea CBDC that the US can't use as weapon. This is why China uses currency exchange instead of national debt. Notice that these two never mention "settlement of accounts" probably don't understand monetary operations.
Our government can already do everything these two fear.

There is zero justification for there not being a digital currency which surely could have it;s uses in a system of many and varied other choices. I don;t see why . I would like to see the dangers that they mention . A capitalist system that has choice and freedom is a good capitalist system but a capitalism that is dictatorial, and leaves no choice is bad as we see now with the massive online platforms whose fees to trade are limiting the scope of every persons income that would otherwise happen

I agree but they have done this in India to remove cash. They have a harder time about gold as it has religious significance. But The USA did take gold away from everyone for a long time. (making it criminal to own gold coins and bars.)

They still can. People like me know that. You get a phone call saying you have 14 business day to switch banks and then every bank will not let you open one
Do you have a right to have a bank? Does a private bank have to legally open a bank for you or can they choose? What will you do if they don't let you have one?

No third party permission , it cannot be printed, it cannot be looted, Blackrock is trying to control it to manipulate the price. They're too late. Fiat currency is losing value fast. The banks are broke and actively buying gold and bitcoin.
Stay in fiat and you will be rugpulled. Inflation, interest rates should give you a clue. This is another way of stealing from you.

Realistically this isn't a step in any direction, it is a halt of a step further into the debt slavery system. A step in the right direction would actually undo some of the harm and power of the debt system. This bill doesn't undo anything. Because of interest we are today in more debt than we were yesterday and will be in more debt tommorow than we are today. We are still exponentially accelerating our own march deeper into complete and total debt slavery in which we have already been for a very long time. A step in the right direction would reign in the debt, which this bill doesn't do.
So grateful Congress voted against digital $$!

At the end of the day, there's no one particular way of bridging that gap. but starting to save early and investing in the financial markets can never go wrong. if I were to start over in 2024 with less than $50k I would still use the portfolio management play-book.

If we're looking at it this way, then the digital dollar is any type of value stored in an electrical manner attached to a name of holder (person) including funds= cash-bank cards, owned commodities= gold, silver, owned stocks- CD's, social security, food stamps= citizen funds attached to ssi#. Quite possibly this idea of an agency displaying a hold back of a bad idea is just making themselves look good and favourable to be accepted.
You are correct. The current unbacked fiat currency system is NOT the same as a CBDC. A CBDC basically substitutes government whim for currency, though they would never acknowledge the fact. If CBDC were ever to be enacted, it would be called something else, some euphemistic, secure-sounding term. They would discount, or not even mention, the absolute control aspect, or paint it as some kind of positive. They would probably also enact it along with some kind of "universal basic income." They know that the more people they have on government handouts, the easier they are to control. This is 1984-style autocracy at its worst.

The CARES Act originally had 7 pages dedicated to a new law outlining how a CBDC will actually be implemented by member banks and not the Fed directly. They took it out at the last minute.
It's going to be re-packaged and instead offered by regular banks. The "C" "Centralized" will be deleted from the new name branding - but behind the scenes, it will still be centralized.
