The Banat was the primo orchestra for kolos. They were our treasured tambura orchestra in New York City where I grew up I learned kolos dancing to their music. Zdravko Jezdimir played prima so well - a nice man. I have very fond memories of hi,
Do you know if this is the same Banat orchestra? They sound different, but I'm sure they went through changes over the years. This orchestra seems to be directed by Vlado Konstantinovic. You can hear his distinct voice among the others.
No, I'm sure. That's the Banat. They had a very distinct tempo and sound that I will never forget. I didn't know Vlada sang with them - I never saw them in their group of 4 musicians. We went to the "Hall" of the Serbian Church (Sveti Sava) from it;s inception in the early 1940s to all the dances with the one and only Banat playing, and as I said, I never saw Vlada playing or singing with them It may have bee just for this recording that he joined them I have two pictures of the Banat if you would like me to send them to you send me your email and I'll be happy to send. Yes! I'd love to see them! Have you seen the other Banat recordings on my blog? Vlado is singing on all of them, but they were probably all recorded at the same time (circa 1929-30). skozobar@gmail.com

They're on their way.
Maybe the best performance of this beautiful song, so far.
Slavonic March brought me here. Much better than the Turbo-folk crap from the Balkan War!
