Hello Roxy, very informative and well executed demonstrations. I would ask that you use a mic for you audios as it would enhance the demos. Some of the videos are difficult to hear for us older folks. It would be appreciated!
Hi Eric, Thanks for your comment! Happy you like my content. Regarding step 1: You do need to pull on the handlebars! The front wheel won't lift itself. Just don't bend your elbows or rather don't pull with your biceps. BTW that Jersey looks so cool.
Hi Daniel, thank you for your tip - did you listen to the instruction? For smaller FWL you are totally right - and that is what I am demonstrating first - no pull, just explode - front wheel lifts "by itself". But for higher front wheel lifts, especially if you want to go UPWARDS (like I am demonstrating) it is better to also pull and soften knees - because then you are BALANCED in your bike (centered over cranks) and therefore in the ideal location to add a classic rear wheel lift. Thanks - yes I love my ENDURA Jerseys :-)
@@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire I did watch the whole video. My point is, unless you apply some force to the handlebars, the front wheel won't come off of the ground. You pull by hanging onto the handlebars and thereby transfer your body's momentum, but you DO pull on the bars. Merely loading your bike won't do anything for the front wheel. Someone told me not to pull on the handlebars and this kept me from learning this technique for months. I was so focused on not transferring any force to the handlebars and tried just do it by loading the bike.
Daniel hi Daniel - oh thank you for clarifying. I agree and disagree at the same time 😀 If you watch my 1st FWL then the front wheel lift is occurring without an ACTIVE pull first. As in - no need to bend your arms and perform a pulling motion. (Just as you are saying). The handlebar will lift, because your hands are attached to the handlebars like strings. Of course, you are totally right, this being attached feels like a pull in your fingers 😊 However you are not actively pulling with your arms - yet. This comes in the next step. So I do like to differentiate. Because without the load and explode (= extending arms and legs WITHOUT actively pulling) the pull would cancel the lift. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! These are very helpful. I totally agree that it may cause confusion.
@@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire That's why I wrote in my first comment "Regarding Step1... ....DON'T bend your elbows or rather DON'T pull with your biceps". :) So I think we mean the same thing. Thanks anyway for your effort and awesome instruction videos.

I have seen a vid that showed bike sitting on a scale with rider abord. heels up and down. when heels went down weight increased on rear wheel. And when pedaling having heels down they they said you use bigger mucel group in the back of your legs instead of shin mucel.
Very nice tutorial, Thank you. I am doing your basic skills online course. These moves are very tempting. Shall I wait before attempting them? Also do you have recommendations about the rebound damping of the suspension to help popping the wheels up?

Hi Thomas, watch the video several times, practice the steps I teach diligently and I can guarantee you, that you’ll get there. It’s all about following a structure and being persistent!
Very helpful, thank you!i started biking 2 months ago (it was one of the nice things of the coronovirus situation) and i am trying to learn some basic tricks.the problem is that i only have an old, heavy mountain bike. Do you think thst i can do some decent practice on that or i need to buy a new one?also i am old (44) ,it matters doesn't it...?
Hi Dennis, Great, welcome to the most amazing sport ever :-) Before investing in a new bike, better invest in a certified skills clinic :-) the bike doesn’t really matter and neither does the age :-) it’s all about the motivation and fun!
Enjoyed your videos, great content and inspiring. I have started learning mtb skills particularly manual front wheel lift which I believe I am making progress but very slow. Wanted to progress to do bunny hop :) Question on bike size/weight against rider’s height/weight:: Does bike size and weight matter in getting good results learning these skills? I am short 5’3” and weighs 57kgs. I am just thinking that maybe a small and light bike will be easier to play around. My bike is small trail bike but heavier than my friends Large ones. Your opinion will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for great videos.
Hi Rietschle, yes, it very much will make a difference. Great to see you working on the manual front wheel lift to bunny hop :-) in fact, height makes such a difference that we have a free course on RLC focusing on short-rider specific tips. You can access it with this link: learn.ryanleech.com/roxy plus you have a month membership for free :-)
Hi Roxy, many thanks for sending out link. I will check it out. I am enjoying watching your other videos and I am learning a lot of important basics. I will buy you a coffee :)
See at 2:03 what about a bike with no suspension at all? Also what wheels are you compressing? At 2:09 I don't understand what you were trying to say about the fork. Please reply. Thanks
If you compress the bike THROUGH the feet, by applying even pressure dynamically through both feet, you will compress the bike evenly. If you have a full-suspension bike you will compress fork, rear suspension and tires. If you have no suspension then only the tires. It works even better with a rigid actually :-) I have a bike with no suspension, too, and the movement is the same, just the timing is faster.
Wow thank you so much! By timing do you mean straight after the compress you have to (quickly jump) back up in no suspension bike? And with suspension you compress and kind of (wait) then jump.
@@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire Thanks, I can do it, also can you use the classic front wheel lift for drops? Like dropping off curbs? 3-5 feet drops? And really high ones? I feel like when I do the classic front wheel lift to get over curbs or when I practise on flat ground no obstacles, it slams the front wheel down on the floor.
Then this course will change that substantially: roxybike.podia.com/front-wheel-lifts-skills-course-learn-4-techniques-to-lift-the-front-wheel-of-your-mountain-bike You can change it, the question is, are you ready to? 😃😊💪😍

Enjoyed your videos, great content and inspiring. I have started learning mtb skills particularly manual front wheel lift which I believe I am making progress but very slow. Wanted to progress to do bunny hop :)
Question on bike size/weight against rider’s height/weight:: Does bike size and weight matter in getting good results learning these skills?
@@vilfran2002 so happy you like them! Thank you for the coffee 😍😍🥰
1:39 mmm ok yes I am doing it good.
Parkour and Freerunning
Yes - correct! Looking forward to your progress!
Always feel free to ask :-)
@@Roxybike_Ride.and.Inspire Thanks, I can do it, also can you use the classic front wheel lift for drops? Like dropping off curbs? 3-5 feet drops? And really high ones? I feel like when I do the classic front wheel lift to get over curbs or when I practise on flat ground no obstacles, it slams the front wheel down on the floor.
Parkour and Freerunning hi. No I would not suggest these front wheel lifts for drops.
What kind of hub do you have on that bike because that zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound is beautiful
Ohhhh yessss love my industry nine hubs in my NOBL wheels 😍😍😍
Yaay thanks sooo much I'll have to check it out

Thanks 4 u video
Hehe! Thanks for your comment!
why it looks light to others but if i was lifting my front wheel, i look like a paper holding on the handle bars
Then this course will change that substantially: roxybike.podia.com/front-wheel-lifts-skills-course-learn-4-techniques-to-lift-the-front-wheel-of-your-mountain-bike
You can change it, the question is, are you ready to? 😃😊💪😍
I learned all of them but I’m still not getting the manual like I really don’t understand how to do it
What is still a mystery? Have you tried following the individual steps in this video?
Hola has video en español por favor, eres Buena explicando pero si los haces en ingles se pierde Informacion y solo tenemos las imagen para comprender, o ponle subtitulo mi Buena Amiga
Juan manolo Monrroy Muchas Gracias Juan.
