    Mike one of the reasons I like to watch your videos is the way you all work together and the kids respect for you and Laci. I love that and that's a great blessing. I think Josiah is getting a little more used to the camera. Selah is a natural and always smiling she will be running the vlogs one day. Little man is a rascal makes me smile. You are definitely a blessed man.
    Keep up the good work and God bless you all.

    If a watermelon is ready, the little curly tendril opposite where the melon connects to the vine will be dried up.

    • @FinznFowl82
      @FinznFowl82 3 роки тому +2

      Better check the "field spot" as well. If its white, it's not ready, you want to wait until it's a creamy yellowish color. I've had a bunch of tendrils that are dried and the melon is no where near ripe. Especially the black diamond variety. Every one of those I picked this year, the tendril was brown and dried, and they weren't ripe. I'd even give it another week and they were getting close. Seems like they take forever. My favorite variety so far is crimson sweet but I've got some baby dolls growing which are yellow flesh. They are supposed to be good.

    Loved listening to the egret story! My favorite part of having a homestead is that instead of watching the world through a TV, we experience God's world daily outside. A peregrine falcon perched on a tree overhead yesterday and then gave me a terrific aerial show.

    Looks like Our Creator has blessed you for the up coming Shmita year. For it's not just the 7th year it is also a very special 70th Jubilee year. So may Adonai bless you and your family.

      I believe the last shemitah based on God’s OT word and calendar was 2017 (also 1st year -or, you can think of it as the 50th year- of next 49 year jubilee , next 7 year is 2024. It wasn’t 2014/15 then 2021/22. Do a little looking and you might understand. I believe you, as well as many, might have been led astray. We are all being confused when our focus should be on living His word and instructions. Having said all this, from what little I can glean from their videos I believe they’re living God’s way and I pray God’s blessings on them. May the Lord Jesus bless you.

    Canadian permaculture channel has a video about chopping weeds around the plants you want. Don't pull them out. Chop them off and use as ground-cover or mulch around your desired plant. This lets in light and keeps the soil nutrients right in the same place.

    I see you had a good crop of watermelon. I too had good crop so I had to figure out what too with them. I froze some to make sorbets then I also took and put a couple through the blender I then separated the pulp and the juice. The juice I made watermelon jelly (yum). The pulp I made fruit leather which is also (yummy). My friend took the rind and made watermelon pickle rind. So none of it went to waste. Just thought I would give you some ideas. Put cardboard down then put mulch on top oof the card board . You dont have to pull the weeds that become part of the much and breakdown if you decied to plant you a saw cut the cardboard put down the plant or seed in. It saves on the work and the weeding and inproves the composing of the area. I learned this in one of the three perma culture classes I took here in Los Angeles. It worked wonders in my garden and preparing my yard for landscaping, I just cant stop planting food producing seeds.I love the earth and to watch plants grow.

    Awesome random bird. I remember when we use to keep homing pigeons, we took them out on a 10 mile flight and when they made it home an hour or so later there were younger untagged birds in thr pigeon house with ours. We think the youngsters were lost birds from under a bridge that thought my birds were its family or something hahaha. Needless to say the youngsters stayed for about a week and we never saw them again.
