I'm reading psalms now and just finished psalm 83 by Asaph. I love his psalms because I feel the same way, as do so many others. I turned from God for a long time and turned back to God a couple years ago. I felt light and happy at first but soon my life became so much harder. Many bad things happened and nothing good. I believe it is the devil and demons fighting hard, trying to get me to become angry with God again. I won't fall for it but I have been upset and worried God hasn't forgiven me for a life of sin. I keep questioning myself and cry like a baby every time I talk to God. I can't help it. As soon as I call out to my Father the tears flow. Then I apologize and cry even more. The psalms of Asaph show me he felt the same. Jealous those who were sinners led seemingly better lives than those like me who work hard to do the right thing all day. It is human nature I guess.
Asaph was a prophet as Jesus declared in Matthew 13 35 “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the PROPHET, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.” Who was this prophet that Jesus quoted? It’s Asaph in Psalms 78 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
Jesus is coming back!! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! i think it’s funny how people feel the need to preach on these video comments. most don’t even believe or understand the word at hand. some times it’s better to stay silent instead of being outwardly loud.
Only thing is, the psalms although are not arranged randomly, they are not in chronological order. Asaph's psalms 74 and 79 chronologically fall around Jeremiah 40. These are Asaph's last psalms. David was long dead around this time. Asaph's psalms 73, 77 and 78 fall somewhere around 1 Chronicles 2-5. David was alive and reigning over Israel. So who is Asaph writing psalms during David's reign, and still writing psalms during Jeremiah's prophetic ministry before the Babylonian captivity? I suspect that Asaph was a pseudonym used by his descendants after his death, similar to the name "the sons of Korah"
