Two reasons
1: knives in yba were coded so they stick into objects instead of just disappearing to attempt at realism
2: the map for 1v1s you're on has invisible barriers to prevent people from using the uneven structure of the pillars to camp.
Basically, the knives got stuck in that invisible wall
