This was a very good video to watch. I prefer the workshop vids, but seeing trains running is also very enjoyable. It's great to see the kids too. But for me, the highlight of this one was to see your Jinty, as I'm building one in 7 1/4". Unfortunately progress has stalled due to Covid lockdown and some health problems, but you've encouraged me to have another go at it as soon as I can.
Hi Tom Just found your channel which is very good. I was impressed to see you using a pin hole grate(Rosebud) I brought the idea back from New Zealand when I was given some Australian model engineering magazines. A friend of mine first tried the idea in his Maxitrak Little Joe and it snow balled from there. I have spoken to many people about it when doing stand duty at the shows. Maidstone looks a nice track pity you only have a raised one. Keep up the good work Martin
I took some video of the class 2 for it’s own video, which will be posted shortly, it is a beautiful model, the Atlantic is nice too, will get some more of that next time I see it.
Greatly enjoying you videos, Tom, interested to see the gauze spark arrestor in the jintys smokebox, is this what most clubs consider to be a must have now?
Varies between clubs, we require it for public running, although a deflector on top of the chimney is also acceptable, something to try to prevent sparks being thrown.
Great stuff, Tom! I learn a lot from each of your videos! At about 12 minutes in you were on the bridge, and quite a bit of water was exiting the stack. What was that exactly? Got a kick out of the "war wound." Thanks again!
That was the loco priming because it had been handed over with too much water in it, so as you run it lifts the water up through the regulator and into the cylinders. Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂
It’s 5” track, there is 3 1/2” gauge too, but I think everything in the video was 5”. The locos are hand made by model engineers, one in the video was built from a kit.
I would always recommend finding and joining a local club first, then you will get more of an idea of what you’re looking at when you’re buying, and also what type of loco would suit you best.
Great video! Love those trains.

Thanks. I am pretty pleased with it. I hope you progress yours, it would be good to see it one day.

The class 2/3 might have been a bit damp but it looked like a really nice engine! A very smart looking Atlantic at the end there too. 🙂

@@TomsWorkshop42 Thanks! I have much to learn as I attempt to get my Ajax up and running.
Why do 5" drivers always go from 0 to 100 mph in under 5 seconds ?
Full size would if they had enough traction to achieve it…
Where do the locos come from? Also what gauge is the track?

@@TomsWorkshop42 Cheers!
Also where would I buy one from? I was thinking about getting one of them
Sort of talking about where I could find a person to buy one from
