The one about leaving behind perfectionism, yes! So much yes. I stopped drawing around 2011, only picking it up occasionally, because I was just so frustrated with everything I drew, because nothing looked like I had envisioned it. Picked it up again last year and SOMEHOW got over it. idk what changed in my brain, but I finally was able to enjoy drawing again. I still see the mistakes I make and the things that didn't go like I wanted, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore.
Seeing Sam quickly transfer to a British accent had me rolling on the floor. I really think it would be a good idea for Sam to make a video about looking at random art and then drawing the same thing with alcohol markers.
That last piece of advice was so inspiring. I've been in a perfectionist mindset for so long and I feel like that's one of the reasons why Im not creative as I usually am/want to be. I'm brainstorming for a manga yet it feels my perfectionist mindset is making me work like I'm in the final draft. I gotta remember that I'm still creating ideas and that not every idea/concept is gonna be 100% perfect and that's fine.
That last video actually got to me. I’ve always been so focused on getting things to look the way I have it as in my head, and then I get angry about the minor mistakes and end up almost giving up on art TvT. But I can’t believe I went 8 years without just thinking about what I was doing wrong with my thought process. I bet I would have done a bit better if I didn’t want everything I did to perfectly match what I had in my head.
I love Rawsueshii art! (The last video). She's right. I use to be so hooked on attempting to get the perfect picture to the point where I ended up hating my art and couldnt have an appreciation for it. Now, i accept that I wont always have the outcome that I want but I can always improve. I found that walking away from my art doesnt actually hinder my ability to draw, in fact my art actually improves. My next leap is to dig deeper into anatomy.
Love how you showcase a wider range of tutorials. From more experienced artists as well as those that aren't that experienced. But either way all of them have something worthwhile to share most of the time.
I think I also truly needed to hear that last advice, Ive realized that thats probably the reason why I havent created and improved that much this year: the perfectionist mindset. I havent finished alot of sketchbooks either, probably bc I unconciously wanted my sketchbook to look perfect like the ones you always see on social media, but a sketchbook is there to put youe sketches in, even if they arent perfect. Theres a reason why its called ´sketchbook' and not 'artbook'
There are three types of artists, 1.Rush artists: rarely done over 3h drawings, never satisfied with his work, allways improving, competitive. 2.Lento artists: slowly improves, rarely done under 1h drawings. 3.anime babyes: start with anime, their progress is slow, learn verry late the anatomy and realism.
6:25 I’m the artist who gave up just because I couldn’t wait for improvement and everything, I wanted to a webtoon that was my dream for years but now I’m just a commerce student😂 I miss being artist if I say, I miss times when I sit with my canvas or iPad to draw whatever.. but yeah after getting a job I’ll get back to art
when i was a begginer artist i always wanted to be perfect and have beautiful art, it destroyed my mental health so badly that today sometimes i still feel like i am not good enough. i hated my art to the point of crying and thinking that peoples around me were lying when they said my art was pretty. Please, don't let your perfectionnism take over, i was an extreme case and i know others are probably in this same situation. To all those artists; stop pushing yourself too hard. Don't overwork and don't hate yourself because you art is not perfect. It will come with time and practice and one day your art will be so beautiful you will be so proud of yourself.

Something I realised that i find pretty funny is the was Sam has 'the skull of his enemy' but that skull looks the size of a newborn baby's skull- Sam, do u have smth to tell us? 👀🧐🤨
Perfectionist is so real, used to do one drawing here and there and spend hours just to hate on it later regardless of what people say (they were obvious mistakes im just not that great yet) and im still a perfectionist but im doing better when i can break out of that and just enjoy drawing what i want, drew an air bending oc doing air skating (variation of aangs air scooter) and didnt give her arms partially cuz i wasnt sure how i wanted to do them, partially because i didnt wanna draw hands, and partilly cuz i thought itd be cool if she had to skate like this cuz her air bending requires her legs to move cuz she doesnt have arms
Yes" is an affirmative expression employed to indicate agreement, affirmation, or consent, often used in response to a question or statement, conveying a positive affirmation or acknowledgment of the veracity or desirability of the preceding content. We need Sam to use alcohol markers in a video!
My one issue with photo realism is that there's no individuality. Yes, it takes a lot of talent to do it, and love the final product, but you can't tell who the artist was.
The only reason the skulls of my enemies are still in their heads and not on my desk is that I have younger siblings. They need parents, can't ruin that for them just yet
1:46 these stress me out and complicate things for me in my opinion from my experience what I like to do is start with a circle then just don’t do anything until your mind looks at the blank page and creates lines and shapes which can make something beautiful
Sam's automatic swtich to a British accent after seeing Harry Potter is so funny to me.
It’s funny to everyone

Thanks so much for reviewing my video Sam!! Glad it can inspire you and many others! 😊
The girl you drew was adorable!
And as a perfectionist myself, your words really hit home 😅
Merry Christmas!
Thank you for making the video! I really needed to hear that as I’ve been feeling stuck with my art recently
I love your art style!
I’m glad that you spoke about Hod in art and God carried your advice to reach a massive audience! I see God truly with you in this! Amen!

The good thing about not having a mind's eye as an artist is that you literally can't imagine what you want, you just start and hope for the best!
