Bought an inner tube today to make some bands. Didn't dawn on me to ask the bike shop for their old tubes, next time. Nice video, very informative. Thank you.
Really enjoyed your TIP on coiling up the excess Straps, and using Ranger Band, to hold it all together. Thank you , Have a Superb Day, I will now, cause of your shared Tip. Cheers ;-))
My Dad used electrical tape on his packs, and I do mine as well (also a handy multi-use item!), but ranger bands are awesome for adding extra grip to handles or securing gear for silent operations.
I've been using ranger bands for many years and they have a lot of uses in the outdoors and in the workshop as well. I have a couple of free mountain bike and racing bike tubes and that gives me two sizes. Another one I'd love to get are tubes for a fat bike tire. But I was shocked to find out that people actually sell these for a buck. That's just crazy when all you need is a free bike tube and a good set of scissors or a sharp knife. Weird!
@3zonker8 They are nothing that I would use on a regular basis, but if I am cold, wet and having a hard time getting my fire going, they make a reasonable backup tinder. Just don't breathe the fumes. Thanks for the reminder though.
"Ranger bands work great. Also check out Jay West's utube site for his idea for "Jay (ranger) Strips" . A chunk of tire tube also works great for a non-slip grip, use one on my BK16, covers the whole grip so my paws grab better.

Excellent video, and great bushcraft skills! I had not considered the ranger band as a potential fire starter. Thanks!

Good uses for the ranger bands I love using them on everything. Great video too.

Thanks for your kind words.
Great demonstration!
You would be correct. The original ranger bands were cut sections of inner tubing. Electrical tape is also commonly used.
that's the way it started. They'd use em in Vietnam as to stop equipment from shining and or clinking around

Interesting idea, thanks for sharing.
Great video love the ranger bands.
@gdogman100 Another easy fire starter is hand sanitizer. The gelled alcohol burns hot and clean and even can help keep you stay healthy.
But that means I would need to eat more broccoli ;) - Thanks for the tip.
Oops! My bad! Thanks for your great demo!
Thanks for the info.
The bands they use for vegetables at the market work well.(broccoli)
Nice vid bro:)
Atacticalman review of ranger bands
nice tip
Well it is a burning petroleum product, so I would not make a habit of breathing it in. Use it in a open space.

What scissors are those.
That is a pair of trauma shears I bought form a website called CountyCom.
Wildernessways thank you!
very nice tip THX }:>)
But "hacked up inner tube" just doesn't sound as sexy ;)
@Wildernessways hey man, check out my review on ranger bands!
When I was in the Marines we just use electrical tape, I wouldn't bother making them or buying them.
ranger bands should be used as a last resort to start any kind of fires as they being tires produce extremely toxic chemicals
Good video for "ranger bands" but shouldn't be used for fire! Rubber is VERY TOXIC!!!
not all bike shops are that nice
