  • Raylon has a tough-guy persona.
So it’s not surprising that he has been beaten, stabbed, and shot multiple times.
What is surprising is when I stop by the recovery home unannounced and find him folding laundry for someone else.
Or that he so sweetly hugs a 70-year-old volunteer and calls her grandma.
Or just how vulnerable and open he can be in a meeting.
Or that when he volunteers to guard the cars in our church parking lot, he watches another church’s Sunday service on his phone before attending our church’s second service.
He’s a remarkable guy. You can meet him in this 10-minute video.
But, I am writing today to ask that you pray for Raylon.
After a recent relapse, he is feeling defeated and hopeless that he can maintain sobriety outside the safety of a recovery home.
He also candidly admitted this: “I don’t know. I just don’t know if God will accept me. I’ve done a lot of bad things. I just don’t know.”
Raylon needs prayer for these specific things:
    Hope
Courage to face his legal consequences
Faith that God loves him and will not reject him

Praying that our God will mobilize all of his power on your behalf this week to maximize your pleasure and delight in him above all that he's given you in this brief life. He loves you enough to leave the beauty of heaven to come to earth to live the perfect life on your behalf, a life you can't possibly live. He counts that perfection as your own just as if you had performed it yourself. He also died for you because he created you to love him more than you love anything or anyone.....there is no greater pleasure than Christ our greatest treasure.

Hey Shannon, I am going to give him one of the tracts you sent me--it is just one way to mobilize all of God's resources.
