Cool stuff! At 11:12 you mention that after doing the stop-track trick, the LIOBOX will automatically select the next song. AFAIK this is not what happens within Ableton (it just stops), so is this a special feature that LIOBOX adds?

was also curious about this. Not sure if there was IAC action going on

Adding the stop track marker only helps by preventing the need to press stop at the end of each song, resulting in one-button use just hitting the play button. While he made it sound like Ableton would be able to switch to the next song automatically with that cue, that actually isn’t the case and the result is actually better. The LIOBOX automatically pulls up the next song marker in cue or custom setlist you have created on it and Ableton only switches over once you press play from the LIOBOX. - The reason/benefit for this is that Ableton doesn’t have to know what song is next in whatever custom setlist you have created on the LIOBOX. Any controllers that automatically cue up the next marker in a setlist could be used this way, but this controller definitely seems to tick a lot of other boxes as well that others don’t!

@@jackblunier So if I understand you correctly, LIOBOX doesn't have anything to do with the stop marker, and the LIOBOX is already, regardless of the stop marker, set up to be ready to trigger the next song, and the stop marker is only there for convinience in the session itself and not for the programming of the LIOBOX? If so, that makes a lot of sense

@ Yes, exactly! Sorry if my explanation was a bit all over the place

Also curious about that. Does liobox just see the word stop and then know to stop at that marker?

Unless the LIOBOX is adding some other software additions to Live, I'm pretty sure this is either Clyph X or some similar control plugin that is reading the text of the marker. I get it working using []SETSTOP and not (STOP), but I know very little about that software, so entirely possible that both are valid if done in a different way.
It's possible to do it without extra plugins using stop clips instead of markers, but needs to be routed through a virtual MIDI driver (on Mac you can use the native IAC) and back into Live (ua-cam.com/video/9URoHuXO4Ks/v-deo.html)

Hello sir! Any idea if the MIDI port is pinout A or pinout B? Trying to get an adaptor and don't know which one to buy. Thanks a lot.

    Hi man. Nice stuff.
How do you create auto stop markers a the end of each song?

Hi bro. Really appreciate what you are doing in this channel. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have an issue in Ableton.
I have a MacBook Pro with M2 pro chip. When I play VSTs and when I extend my Yamaha Modx with Midi zoning, notes are continue to stuck. (Midi Hanging) I’ve tried everything changed the whole rig except Mac Book. Do you have a solution for that?

It would be nice if they would create a version with touch screen

As a playback engineer, why spend the money on this if you already have the Setlist plugin paired with an existing midi controller and utilizing Ableton link for dual playback/redundancy?

Lots of fingerprints for not being a touch screen. Makes the screen harder to read (besides being blown out by the brightness).

Disclaimer: I have never done a Playbackshow but I am an Audio Engineer and this is amazing and interested. As far as I can tell everything surrounding this topic is build upon Ableton live. And when you ask people why Ableton they say "because its in the name bro ... its made for live". Yeah ... right. I know I can just use Logic Pro but I wonder ... is there evidence why that would be the inferior option? Or is this just the "my DAW is better than yours" Extension Thread?

I started on and used Logic for production for years. Even with all of that time under my belt; Ableton Live is simply the better DAW for live use. The native routing capabilities for sends/returns/outputs is great. It's modular and flexible when it comes to quick arrangement edits, navigation, MIDI I/O capabilities, and is overall just more equipped for the needs of a live performance. Real world application and experience: I had an artist that insisted on running playback and keys through Logic. He did his best to emulate the basic features of Live with Meta-Events, but they were not able to keep up with the simple needs for the performance (and it doesn't seem like Apple is super interested in revisiting/updating them, even though they are the most "live" worthy feature in Logic). It was a nightmare and you end up spending a lot of time working around what it can't do or doesn't do well.
I prefer the UI of Logic's piano roll and the ability to export a tempo map. But other than that, Live is superior.
Of course, all of this is in my opinion/experience. No "my DAW is better than yours", but (while people on the internet are assholes); often times, there's some merit behind what people are saying. I still love Logic and it will always have a place in my heart. But it all depends on your needs, if you simply need to play a couple tracks and have ample time between songs to navigate; you can just use Logic.
