The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! - Treasure of the Sierra Brooklyn (ENGLISH RESTORED) - Episode 162

- The lost treasure has been found! Here is the final lost episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!: "Treasure of the Sierra Brooklyn," feat. Maurice LaMarche as Inspector Gadget. I restored it to its original English by splicing in the audio from my homemade DVDs.
Fitting that The "Ultimate" Mario Fan would be the one responsible for restoring the "ultimate" lost Super Show episode (and by "ultimate" I mean "last"). ALL episodes in English of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! have now been recovered in full! Long live Captain Lou & Danny Wells and long live this show! -TUMF - Розваги
1:27 interesting that the "Luigi Mario"/"Luigi's last name is Mario" joke is in this ep, predating it's use in the Hollywood movie.
Well, that's because the movie sucks and the show rocks... plus, a lot of people thought the whole "last name duo" thing was still relevant at the time.

Interesting to note that the live-action Inspector Gadget is played by Maurice LaMarche. He's best known as a voice actor, with roles including Brain on Animaniacs and Walt on Futurama. He was also the narrator for the commercial for the video game Nightmare Creatures.
Don’t forget that he would eventually become the actual voice of Inspector Gadget after Don Adams retired. He plays Gadget in the Gadgetinis spin off and the subsequent direct to DVD animated movies.
@@coryg.3139 - absolutely right!
@@TaylorTCarlson It wouldn't be until 2015, where we get a new actor for the character.
Egon
@@robbiewalker2831 Ivan Sherry, that was him name.
He was an ok Inspector Gadget, but Maurice was the best successor.
Not only does Maurice give a dead on vocal imitation of Don Adams, but he even has the Maxwell Smart type physical performance down pat as well, right down to the facial expressions.
It's amazing how much maurice's voice has changed since the 80s.
Hes imitating Don Adams
He sounds MORE like don adams here than his other Gadget impressions
0:53 Captain Lou fluffing his line about how “we’ll never find the treasure, buried treasure map in our apartment", bless him
For a real-life depiction of Inspector Gadget, the guy did pretty well.
Fun fact: the guy who played Gadget here is none other than the legendary Maurice LeMarche (AKA the Brain from Pinky & the Brain). He eventually replaced Don Adams as the official voice of Inspector Gadget following Adams’ retirement in 1999 (and also voiced Chief Quimby in Gadget’s original show).
He's the real voice actor
@@JasontheCartoonFan It wouldn't be until the 2015 reboot, where Gadget's voice actor changed again.
I like this crossover of the Mario bros and inspector gadget. I hope someday I’ll include him in the video game smash Bros crossover in the future.

Inspector Gadget and Mario were my favorite cartoons as a kid, so this would've reached legendary status for me.
Me too
Maurice La Marche went on to voice many other cartoons including Inspector Gadget cartoons after Don Adams passed because he also was a voice impressionist of other celebrities of his time.
Here from a japed vinny
4:20. Mario: Uh oh!!
Luigi: Oh no. Eddison!!!
This is the second crossover the Mario Brothers Plumbing sketches had with Inspector Gadget.
this is the greatest crossover in tv history
Boy, kind of crazy to consider that for late 80s early 90s kids, *THIS* was the most ambitious and cool crossover of all time.
DiC's most famous original character, Inspector Gadget (voice performed by his original actor, Don Adams, live acting by freaking Maurice LaMarche [most well-known for Brain from Animaniacs but also for doing a lot of other animated characters' voice work] getting called by the Mario Brothers to help them with a treasure map.
Unlike his first appearance, Inspector Gadget's theme song was an instrumental and it didn't play throughout the entirety of the skit. That was a *massive* improvement! 😅👍
I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS EPISODE FOR YEARS
I remember this from the Redbox DVD I had when I was younger.
This is the best live action segement as far as I'm concerned, most of the other guest stars are just fictional characters created for the sake of the series; but here they've used a character from another iconic sereis, which makes it so much better..
He's still my second favorite inspector gadget
Ah my favorite duo: Meatball and Stickbug
You're a hero for uploading this, y'know!
Great video quality too! Too bad the audio is a bit rusty. :/
To note that the live-action Inspector Gadget is played by Maurice LaMarche, as a voice actor, with many roles including The Mayor on Wolf Rock Tv, Chief Quimby and the titular character (fill in) on Inspector Gadget, Egon Spengler on The Real Ghostbusters/Slimer! And The Real Ghostbusters, Popeye on Popeye & Son, Dishonest Jon on The New Adventures of Beany & Cecil, Henry Mitchell, George Wilson, and Ruff on Dennis the Menace, Copperhead, Low-Light, Spirit, Serpentor, Destro, Big Ben on the 2nd run of DIC's G.I. Joe, additional voices on Camp Candy S2, Where's Waldo?, Zoltan, Ketchuck, and Tomato Guy on Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, Dizzy Devil, Tasmanian Devil, Orsen Whales, Yosemite Sam on Tiny Toon Adventures, Verminous Skull and Duke Nukem on Captain Planet and the Planeteers/The New Adventures of Captain Planet, Hugh Tasmanian Devil, Daniel Platypus, Daffy Duck, Drew Tasmanian Devil, Yosemite Sam on Taz-Mania, Mr. Blackenblue, Smarts, Tuttle Turtle, Al Vermin on Bonkers, Brain on Animaniacs and its spin-offs Pinky and the Brain and Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain, Jeremy Hawke, Orson Welles, Additional Voices on The Critic, Scuttle on The Little Mermaid, Human Ton & Handy, Pigleg, Mr. Smartypants, Various Voices on The Tick, Boris, Mulch and Humus, Myron Dabble, Chief Strombolli, G9 on Gadget Boy and Gadget Boy's Adventures in History, Big Bob on Hey Arnold!, Mooch, Emperor, Narrator, Additional Voices on The Wacky World Of Tex Avery, and Walt on Futurama.
That's really awesome! I have 90% of this episode on VHS I recorded in 89 (cuts off just after the clock speaks), but I don't think I've ever seen Magic Love in English before (maybe in 89, but I can't remember). Never thought we'd find actual English versions of these two! I too would like to see your original recordings of these. I actually found some people to record "translated" back to English lines for these two eps, but I never got everything, and I was too lazy to put everything together anyway. Now I can finally finish my custom DVD set, if I ever find the energy/ time. Great job! I have the German DVD set with these two episodes as well.

Brown bricks in Mario
In the Mario brothers apartment I noticed that there are a lot of Brown Bricks.
i have NEVER seen Inspector Gadget do the mario. It's a bit weird this collab even happened!
that’s Maurice LaMarche
I didn't know that Inspector Gadget was featured a second time. He had been previously featured in the "Defective Gadgetry" skit! 🤓
Warning! Don’t touch !! Removing this pipe will cause all the power in Brooklyn to go out he just read it and that what I just read it too

By the way, I was just wondering... is there any chance you could upload your complete raw recording as well? Preferably with the intro/outro, Zelda cartoon, bumpers etc. all included? It would be nice to have up as a historical reference.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind seeing a "raw" upload of the "Defective Gadgetry" episode either, if you should have it in your collection. A while back, another UA-cam user posted an old TV recording of this episode which included a different Zelda cartoon than the one listed in circulating episode guides: ua-cam.com/video/oAVZ4Rt6egc/v-deo.html So if you have it recorded, I'm curious which Zelda cartoon is included there.
Important to human history
Thanks Mr. Vinesauce
Awesome, thanks for posting! :D It's kinda crazy to actually see the whole thing in English after all these years. I assume you used my upload of the German DVD episode for the video, since you mention splicing in the audio?
I'm just curious about one thing: the final clip with Mario, Luigi and Gadget "Doing the Mario" was not included on the German DVD, and the sound quality sounds cleaner than the rest of the episode too. Did you insert this from the American DVD edition of "Defective Gadgetry"? What I'm wondering is whether "Treasure of the Sierra Brooklyn" had such a clip when it originally aired (and if it did, was the clip the same recording as in "Defective Gadgetry"?).
Good question! It used the exact same clip as Defective Gadgetry, as the guest star was the same.
Also, you might notice that the scarecrow scream (2:30) seems out-of-sync. However, this was the case in the original recording. I went to great lengths to make sure this video was synced as accurately as possible.
@@TheUltimateMarioFan Right, then I understand. :) You just took that entire clip from the American DVD edition since it was exactly the same as in your TV recording of "Sierra Brooklyn".

binny you lied to me this isn't lost media >:(
It never was in the first place, it was just unavailable to the public. Big difference.
Vinny watched this
Is there still any lost content? I didn't know there were any.
I didn't know there was either! That's unfortunately why this remained lost all this time. Had I known sooner, I could have uploaded this as early as 2005.
To answer your question, other than a small handful of bumpers and commercials/radio spots, all SMBSS content has been recovered.
@@TheUltimateMarioFan I mean there's also Club Mario and King Koopa's Cool Cartoons from around the same time too.
@@tylerdoesstuff6834 King Koopa's Kool Kartoons deserved to be recovered, just for the Live Action Segments alone... not so much for Club Mario, as it was just false advertising.
Why was this lost?
Because it wasn’t included on any of Shout! Factory’s DVD releases of the Super Show (which are the only DVDs of the series to include any of the live-action segments in full).
