I've always believed that names hold power, and they also give power. They are important in so many ways, specifically when it comes to Odin, cause I think he is much more than just Odin. Your videos are the best no doubt, and they are more helpful than you might know . Some of us don't have access to all the books so we appreciate you sharing the knowledge with us. Thank you
Thank you for the education. Looking forward to the next one. So much to learn about Odin. And did I hear a crow or a raven in the beginning of the video? So cool! Odin is sending his blessings.
If people shouldn't put Odin in a box, then neither should they put Loki in a box. He isn't evil, he helps as often as he pulls his pranks and tricks. Loki is more a god of Chaos, and without chaos there can be no change. But Odin is as much a trickster and a shape-shifter as Loki is. Perhaps that's why they got along and made their blood oath to begin with. Odin and Loki both say that the other has spent time on Midgard as a woman giving birth, and practiced women's magic. I feel like Loki got fed up with being labeled the "bad guy" and that's why he roasted all the gods, which ended up bringing about the binding of Loki. I don't think he was lying. I think he was airing their dirty laundry, trying to point out that they are just as "bad" as he is, and they didn't like it so they punished him. I'll step off my soapbox now. That's just my take on the events. If you agree, excellent. If you don't, that is totally your prerogative. I love your videos, Jacob. They bring so much joy and understanding into my newly awakened Norse Pagan journey and I thoroughly enjoy listening to what you've learned or researched or how you venerate the gods. Thank you for your time and effort. Enjoy your day, anyone reading this. Skol.
if Odin came from Rusland , so his name I read like -> Voivode (/ˈvɔɪˌvoʊd/, also spelled Voievod, Voivoda, Vojvoda or Wojewoda) is a title denoting a "military-leader" or "warlord" in Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe,
Hi Jacob. I like your theory on Odin's complex, tripartite nature. The Survive The Jive Channel mentions something roughly along the lines of Odin being 1.The Mortal Man (Progenitor of Kings), 2. The Spirit (Shaman-like conduit to the Spirit World and Gods) and 3. The Allfather (Chief of the Gods) all in one. In The Gylfaginning, he is The High, As High and Most High. I think we're only scratching the surface with this most fascinating of Gods.
hi wisdom of odin im will and im a begginer on norse religion and im trying to find out what type of spear odin has cause their are many types out their and im so confused
You are doing great work brother I am learning a lot my self brother I am doing my own reachsearch everyday skal and respect from a very proud Norse pagan from Ireland
Too funny. I'm still new, so be kind. I wonder why the wolf aspect isn't the warrior aspect. They're known to hunt in packs. Very efficient hunters. Bears are solitary and omnivores. Traits I'd associate with a formidable traveler. Curious.
Love your videos me and my twin brother are both new to this faith, tho I love history and have done decent amount of research into multitudes of different cultures the amount of study and history that goes into this faith is truly wonderful to walk among the trees and feel the presence of the gods. Thank you much for these videos they have been an amazing help to me and my twin brother in our journey for wisdom. Thanks bud
Realy enjoying this odins week and cant wait for the next, I also realy love the three paths of odin concept, I think thats an excelent way to think about it and makes alot of sence. hail sheild shaker😆
I heard of a theory that some of those names of Odin were minor or local gods whose worship was subsumed under Odin over time. Which may have happened to many pantheons who had Hundreds to thousands of gods.
I adore how no matter how complicated or hard stuff you read and discover, you always manage to "digest" it for us and share the essence of the knowledge. Thanks Jacob, you're doing God's work (hue hue) ^^
Tell that to the Cannanite pantheon he came out of. Or the writers of the Genesis who couldn't agree if he was El or Yahweh. Kind of ironic the only thing they could agree on is Asherah is the ex wife.
That may be for your group of people, maybe that god is so jealous that no others can be acceptable. Having read some stories from some of your 'approved reading list' that seems to be strongly the case. Our Goddesses and Gods are a bit more flexible on that front. Don't preach and proselytise here, we haven't forgotten all the horrors Abramic Religions have inflicted and still inflict, on our forebears, on people now! Nor forgiven!
Somewhere out there, is a Brosatru going by the Norse name of ManBearPig...
But he's super cereal!
Super Sentai

*"Gizorr"*
Great, now I have an urge to call Odin 'Geezer'; that would *not* go well.

That’s how I chose that spot to film actually! Right when I came around the corner there was a bunch of them flying through there
@@TheWisdomOfOdin Nice!

So excited for your take on Tyr and Hel. This series is by far the best on youtube 👍🏻
That was Amazing How Can This Be Possible To Have So Many Names And Be Known Throughout The World…Hail Odin 🙏
Yes you can’t put Odin in a box. Because he is attached to every box, bubble or level. I love what I learn from you. Thank you

Time to bring ODIN back into the world.

Be careful making too many offerings to the gods. They don’t like to be in debt to anyone and it will not gain you favor actually quite the opposite.
God Bless you from Odin, My Grandfather from The Arch Angel Revelation of Mother Mary
When you used the terms raven, wolf, and bear paths all I could think about was the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla skill tree lol
Thank you Jacob! Your videos always have perfect timing.
Odin is known as Shiva in India..... Rest of all Hindu texts like Gita is just bogus ....
You have grown far sinve I began watching you, from 10k all the way to (almost) 50k, great job growing the community!!!!
Thank you, been a wild ride. Hardly can believe it most days!

Curious.
Is it possible that Snorri's preferred description of 'Olfaþr' is a Christianised variant of the 'Father of the Fallen in Battle' Valfather?

Jólfr...half horse, half wolf, half bear. And Al Gore thought Manbearpig was the greatest threat to the planet.
