Excellent presentation. I am learning more and more about this super breed, especially because of my interest in scent games with dogs! Bravo and thanks!
Thank you for a great introduction to Lagotti. My little guy is very vocal. He lets us know when he wants something. But maybe it is because I spoil him. ;) Pros: I have never seen a dog that is so friendly and happy-go-lucky. Watchful. Hypoallergenic (don't lose much dander - because of the hair, tend not to drool and ours is not kissy-kissy - so no saliva), Cons: Will find mud in the desert. Does need a lot of mental and physical activities. Digs, digs, digs Good or Bad? You decide Smart, sensitive (doesn't like harsh words or when people have a discussion); Very attached to his people (doesn't like to be alone); people/strangers tend not to be afraid because they look like Ewoks from Star Wars. People always ask if it is a doodle. Independent/Stubborn. Can make his own decisions. Decides if it is worth it. I don't think they are "eager to please" like a poodle, collie, or GSD. Will do anything for treats. Cautious with the unknown/fearless with the known. Want to be higher than the surroundings (will climb things to look down in the house and outside - so they need a perch where they can see (control) the area. The price range is correct in the video. They are beginning to come from puppy mills so if you are offered a "cheaper" one., please check if the puppy is coming from a reputable breeder and socialized well. Especially due to the cautiousness.
i have lagotto and i am italian, i also live in italy and "lago-tto" It's because this dog can swim really good and the first peace of his name (LAGO-tto) "lago" means "lake"
Great video, super characterisation of the Lagotto. We have 2, a male 8 years, a female 6 years. One thing you failed to mention is that they are incessant con artists. They love to steal things that can be ransomed with treats, amongst other tricks. They are the best "finders" ever. And they are cuddly and gorgeous friends of family and family friends. Best dogs ever, so much so, we believe they may not even be dogs, but, I suppose all dog owners feel the same of their furry friends !
@@maria-ionela8753 My lagotto never. Bit me nor others, the only time they bite is when they are still a puppy. But that can be trained so it is not a problem.
There could be two reasons behind destructive behaviour while home alone. 1) they’re bored and need something to keep them busy or 2) they have separation anxiety. You’ll have to figure out which it is.
I agree with Luisa Dituri. I recomemend getting them tired and crating them. But not all day! I use a Furbo to let mine know he is "good" when he is calm while alone. I hope you find a way. :)
If you can afford a Lagotto, it's likely you can afford a doggie daycare. Take him to daycare if crating doesn't work out. I never leave my pets alone at home free to roam. It's for their safety and the safety of my house.
I like the computer voice in this video. I'm not an English speaked person and this voice is easy for me to understand.
La mia Lagotta si chiama Otta. È meravigliosa. Non so come potevo stare senza di lei. Il miglior cane al mondo.
