I can remember when Salisbury Municipality took over the Town Management Boards. My parents did not approve! A model boating lake was being built at Ballentine Park at the time and the Salisbury municipality cancelled that project, displeasing us lads greatly!
Sentosa is a resort in Singapore, which underlines the poetic irony that Zimbabwea could have been the Singapore of Africa. Maybe even its South Korea.
Thanks for the research brother. I did not know there was a number of Americans who were involved in first occupation of Zimbabwe. It explains why British and Americans seem to have an interest in Zim,also the German and Dutch counterparts too.The Dutch nearly took Mozambique from the Portuguese back in the day,but Portuguese resisted.Today in the City of Beira, a Dutch community is working with the Council of the City on green projects. So History has a way of repeating itself.
I was born in RHODESIA in SAILSBURY we lived in Powell road has the name changed can you tell me what the name of the road is today thank you so much for making great videos
If you google Powell Road, Harare you will see it's still there. The roads in the suburbs pretty much all have their original names. I lived in Queensdale.
@@ZimTechGuy oh wow, thank you. That makes a lot of sense- in Sesotho we it would be "ha a lale" or Zulu "akalali". I've been searching for the meaning online and they just tell me it's a name of the city. Thank you.
Harare = He never sleeps He = a guard checking ennemies area from the highest point of the city Harare never sleeps.. When the ennemies try to attack, the guard warns the soldiers in the valley.

What does the word Harare mean?
Hi Mapule, loosely translated 'He never sleeps'
@@ZimTechGuy oh wow, thank you. That makes a lot of sense- in Sesotho we it would be "ha a lale" or Zulu "akalali".

@@mapule2780 wow, I'm sure a few other Bantu languages also sound the same
Harare = He never sleeps
He = a guard checking ennemies area from the highest point of the city Harare never sleeps.. When the ennemies try to attack, the guard warns the soldiers in the valley.
Another explanation is that it was named after the local chief 'Havarare'. = he never sleeps.
I think that Harare should be renamed Mugabeberg
Well researched. Salisbury must have been a beautiful city before the occupation in 1980 by the war criminal and father of mass genocide Mugabe!!!!!
