Hi. I purchased these lights a few weeks before Halloween. I learned from last year that they go fast-never to return until the filling fall. I started off with the 500 for my tree, then I purchased the 250’s for the easily removable fireplace cover. We couldn’t wait for Xmas, so we installed them and decided to go with a fall theme. Well now we’ve decided to keep the tree up all year. It is no longer a Christmas tree, but rather a year round seasonal themed smart tree. We love them that much. Oh, and they’re also a permanent fixture in front of our fireplace . (Themed as well).
That's so awesome! I'm planning to put this set on my tree, but I played with laying them around my backyard patio one night and they looked so good. They also are the perfect match for our existing Philips Hue outdoor lights we already have. I'm going to go with some other string lights we already own this holiday season, but I'm 100% sure we'll be getting more of these. Especially since these are great for all occassions. They are truly a level up!
Thank you for taking the time to go through everything and explaining exactly how it works and looks! Best review I've seen, exactly the information I've been looking for.
At this point, they don't have much...they have a few twinkling options, can flicker like a candle or flame, and "prism" where it will do a bit of a chase as it goes through a rainbow of colors. Not specifically a holiday color chase though. I hope Philips will add more effect options in the future. They have definitely added options over time for our other Philips Hue outdoor lights. If you want to see some of the effects, here's where I showed some effects with the lights outside. Sorry that I didn't include prism. ua-cam.com/video/oSjUJvzWG0Q/v-deo.htmlsi=QOxksQ8W8e46Ta2y&t=107
Glad my video helps! You can completely customize the multi color. When you go to the color wheel and move the color dot, it'll expand into 5 color dots that you can move to up to 5 different colors (or combine if you don't want 5). Here's a video that quickly shows what I mean: ua-cam.com/video/oSjUJvzWG0Q/v-deo.htmlsi=ZVr3SAZxEyB0YxoI&t=63
How is the amount of light working for you? They seem quite dim indoors for the amount of LEDs that’s on them. I want to put them outside around some wooden beams and some plants and do need quite some light from them for ambient lighting in the frontyard.
That's a really good question. I haven't tested them in the dark yet as I am planning to use them for our Christmas tree and was going to shoot a video when we got that together....but that'll be a few more weeks. I'll try to lay them outside tonight and get a video of how bright they are. I'll comment here when I do!
I put them outside so you could see them! Here's the video. I tried a few different colors and some of the effects as well: ua-cam.com/video/oSjUJvzWG0Q/v-deo.html
Thanks for your response! However I was looking for the song at the end of your video. 4:38 There’s just something about songs sounding aged that I really like with the subtle pops and crackles and even the distorted tune lol

You're asking the wrong person! I prefer metric as it is far more logical, but growing up in an educational system and culture that use the imperial system makes it hard not to use the imperial system. Especially when my primary audience for these videos are Americans. And I'm pretty sure the US still uses the imperial system because US manufacturing primarily uses imperial and switching to metric would be expensive.

I'm so glad!! Thank you for letting me know.
Do these string lights not chase or have any other effects other than twinkling?

@@alderandjade Thanks! I was curious about this as well as I looking to get these to be the primary light source for our outdoor patio.
@@erpatt You're welcome! I think you'll love them for your patio. The amount of control you have in colors, brightness, and effects is truly standout.
I really like that song there at the end! I tried to Shazam it but it couldn’t find it.. may I ask what song you used?
Thanks! It's actually a royalty-free sound effect on Pixabay: pixabay.com/sound-effects/crystal-logo-21091/

I get so confused by Americans talking in feet. The rest of the world uses metric, how come you don't like metres?

Is it a hood or a bonet?
