I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram, LSD. No CEL, no oil leaks. Multi-show full-concours winner. I'm never selling it. The only oil leaks I've ever had were the two lower valve cover gaskets.
G'day mate, honestly I can't remember what sealant I used on this engine 😅 it was a while back now. But the torque specs are the same as the valve cover, set to 12NM or 8.8 ft.lbs I hope this helps 👍
Do you have a list of what goes on in order? I tried to follow and write it down from you vid. I am ready to dress my 993 long block but figuring out what goes on first etc. Thaks.
How far apart did you pull your block apart? If you pulled it apart all the way to splitting the block. Then you will start with crank bearings oil pump seal etc etc.
@@zvautobuild8832 I split the case and replaced all bearings, did heads and valves etc. Sealed the case back. Had a dickens of a time with stripped bolts, you vids were very helpful. Now everything is buttoned up and long block is waiting to be dressed.
For this car I used mobile 1 due to owners request. But if you want my personal recommendation, use Castrol edge 10w-60 and also service the oil and filter every 5000kms. These air cooled engines burn oil very aggressively so it's best to service them regularly for a healthier engine
Awesome. Same project I'm working on, great to see I'm not the only one!

Yes never sell it, the value on these cars are just gonna go up, so keep it, enjoy it and hold on to it for as long as you can
Hi......thanks for the great video! What black sealant were you using on the timing chain covers & what torque did you use?

@@zvautobuild8832 Kool, thanks mate. My build is on RL as "The Green Hornet Project"
@@ocmacman17 I'm not registered to rennlist but I'll definitely register and follow your build 👍
Hello, what engine oil would you recommend for a non refurbed 993 engine with about 160km? Thanks for your response in advance

Great vid but the lighting is terrible.
Yeah sorry bout that Thomas. I was using a cheap camera at the time so it ruined the lighting. Thanks for the feed back
