    So just a few things about the inf tab. Firstly the VDV 90 in the skerezet is one of the most powerful forest fighting cards the USSR gets in my opinion. The VDV can wipe out any vehicle and are good enough against infantry. The skrezet is a deviating fire support vehicle. You let the VDV get into a fight then bring the Skrezet up and watch the enemy inf disappear. The sappery should only be brought in the BMP-T and the sappery '85 should never be brought because Spetsnaz exist. You bring the base sappery as a meat shield for the bmp and nothing more. Yes I know the BMP-T isn't available, but that's just my view on the sappery. Lastly don't underestimate cheap atgms. They can be good at holding a flank and deterring your opponent. Most players tend to assume a high end atgm is shooting at them. The Mi-8MTV and the Faktoriya can hold a flank town fairly well, or the Mi-8 can be brought in cheaply and used for fire support. Anyways that is just the opinion of a scrub! Thanks for two videos in one day! Stay safe!

    Thanks for the reviews! It was really helpful that you pointed out my missed opportunities. I find that I am often too scared to use helicopters or high end planes because I often assume that they have AA across the map, and I often don't really know how to use the gornos. That VMF at base was intended as base defense, but I, too, found it awkward since I wanted my VMF at the front line and I found the lack of firepower worrying. The BRDM3 seems like a much better option. I did realize my lack of AA throughout the game. I was kind of hoping that my skrezets would look like tunguska when they fire at planes in a forest, and thus deter the opponent team from using planes or helos (I think it worked somewhat, as they did made a marker at my skrezet and labeled it as AA, but eventually they found out continued using bombers). The Zhalo seems an excellent addition. I often see people use it but I never understood it until now. When I said 'push' on the right flank, I was hoping that my teammate would assist with tanks but he didn't. I knew that a single spetnaz team would not work. The income of the game wasn't high, and I was floating about 200 points throughout the game (on purpose) in case I need to suddenly buy helicopters or planes for emergencies.

      200 is too much to be floating in a 1v1 imo -- that's enough to make a significant impact upon the battlefield elsewhere. If you have an emergency where your opponent has started a helorush or somesuch, your intent is not to entirely defeat it with your banked points, because then the opportunity cost will be prohibitively high, but rather, to slow and chip away at his strike so that you can surround and defeat it. With 200 extra points you should be taking the initiative to push your opponent; by attacking crucial locations you can then force them to commit to defenses and thus less able to amass the points that would be needed for a significant push.
      To be honest, with regards to AA, people see missile and go, 'oh, AA'. Some people might differentiate between heavy and light AA platforms, but nobody's gonna assume that it's a Tunguska/M until you shoot down a helicopter from over 2800m away. And uh, I'm gonna be honest with you, nobody who's paying any kind of attention is going to mistake a Tunguska for a Skrezhet. (Doubly so when they figure out you're playing Soviet Airborne, and believe me, they will figure out.) The fire rate of a Tunguska is over 2700 r/m, whereas a Skrezhet is less than a fifth of that at

    I tend to always use the mig-31m as some kind of AWACS and until then it has seemingly worked fine.

    Outside of the double SEAD I think the original air tab was pretty good. I'd change that and add cheaper, more accessible ground attack options. Something like drop the SU-24 for the SU-24m, switch the SU-25T for the SU-27K and upvet the MiG-23ML and you're good. Considering that you have to keep air superiority for your deck to work having only 2 elite PUs is too light in my opinion. At least take the YAK-141 and one PU.
    The MiG-23ML is also worth taking since it's a pretty good helo hunter with its 1s reload. Absolutely worth suiciding for a Longbow or a Tiger.
    Considering the map the MiG-31M would probably be a good choice, too. Information is power after all and seeing the enemy planes basically when they spawn is pretty huge for succesful air play.
    But seriously, drop the Mi-4A. You have much better rocket pod helos in your infantry tab and if you need something cheap to check for aa send a cheap Mi-8. The Mi-4A has no role in this deck.
    Spetsnaz always make me a little bit sad. They do their job, but Li Jian '90 are just so much better and cost the same.
    Thanks for the video. It was a treat!

    The mig-31m is imo very useful on a large enough map. You can have it flying far off at your edge of the map to spot enemy aircraft, snipe at them from range and possibly kill it probably not but at least scare off the enemy and fly itself to safety before the enemy is even in range. In 10v10 tacticals I've used it efficiently in this role even scoring multiple kills.

    • @Osterbaum
      @Osterbaum 3 роки тому

      To be sure for this to work you need to be supported by additional fighters to more efficiently shoot down some of the enemy aircraft your mig-31m spotted for you and cant possibly shoot down by itself. One or two mig-29 or su-27 will do nicely. You send your mig-31m to shoot at a spotted enemy plane and call in your additional asf immediately. Maybe your mig-31m scores a kill or a stun or just scares your enemy a bit. Your asf come up the rear and finish off enemy planes while your mig-31m is already out of the area and safe.

      @taichi2245 3 роки тому

      You have a less than 20% chance to kill most aircraft with 2 missiles, and slightly over 50% to kill with 4, if you manage to get them off. This is on a plane with 0% ECM. On a plane with 40% ECM, a near-peer threat, for 2 missiles to hit in a binomial distribution you have something like

      @@taichi2245 You can basically shoot at anything except an f-14 and never have them shoot back in time - the chance of killing the enemy may be low on its own, but eventually pays off if it carries no risk to the mig-31m itself. In a long enough game anyway. Often it carries a lot of value too to just be able to scare the enemy off or even just delay their bombing run a bit. And again if you can do this with no risk to yourself, then great! For taking out peer level aerial threats the mig-31m will never be enough on it's own, but supported by high-end asf you can send the mig-31 in and often your enemy will order their plane to attack it - then you fly in another plane or a few to attack the enemy asf. If you time it right, your su-27 or whatever will be on that f-15 (or whatever) at an angle before the enemy asf can switch targets.

    Hey Stealth...not sure if it matters to you, but the 2 new campaigns for Ash & Shadows are not the only things about the campaigns in Wargame Red Dragon that have changed. The old campaigns have also been updated by the newer versions of the mod. The 2nd Korean War campaign has had the units updated significantly on both sides. For instance, your forces for the opening naval battle now include 6 TRAM Intruders armed with Harpoons already in your battlegroup, as well as 28 Skjolds and 8 of those S-72 command ships with the ballistic missiles. It has been over 2 years since you did a playthrough of the 2nd Korean War, and with all the changes to the units in it, maybe it is time for a new one? Note that many of the units have also had their number of initiative points increased, especially the aircraft...and if you do start a new playthrough, be sure to look carefully at all the units available to buy, as most of those have been changed as well. 🖖💯✌

    I mean without looking at gsme play with how i play i usually like having a tomcat or mig in the back for an extra missile that can be flung at an enemy that maybe the diffetence between downing an ardvaark or getting your line wiped bit then again i only go up against either ai or my frirnds who are also as bad as me

    I'm not a fan with MiG-31M. It is worse than F-14 in the game. Although some people can make them work by using map border.
    If you ask me why it is worse, because it doesn't have ripple fire like F-14, when F-14 launch two Phoenixes, 31 only launch one. R-33 reloads very slowly. And when you get approached by a F-14, you don't have AIM-9 and gun to make the kill.
    Unless your missile went critical. Which F-14 also can.

    I dont have the game, but i am considering buying it or maybe geting it when its on offer. My question is if you can take out the shadow that is over all the capture points, if there is an option to just have the areas use just the contoures and not have the ground blue or red or white? Couse for houses i saw it just contoures them in the color of the capturing team.
    Its very hard to see map topografy, units and also enjoy the fight when the whole ground is colored the color of the side that has control of it, its even wors if you play red force, couse looking at that intens red for that long is hard on the eyes. Maybe even a mod that can be instaled but still be able to play multiplayer.
    Hoping to get an answer, thank you.
