Hi David, Great video!! Loads of info about ArtStation and how to create a portfolio and how to use the site. I've bookmarked this and will be referring back to your video many times in the future.
So just so I'm super clear, each image I will add to my "portfolio" is an individual "project", correct? Or, I could make one project and put all the images inside of it, but then I lose the ability to describe each one. Is that also correct?
@@jmh3d let’s say you had three projects, a character, an environment and a vehicle. That would be three projects. Each of those projects could have multiple images. For example, the character project could contain the character from multiple angles etc. The environment would have its own set of images etc. Each of these projects would have their own description. For example; this is a character I made in Blender. This is an environment I made in Unreal and this is a vehicle I made in Maya. You could lump them all together but I would not recommend that. Realize either way you can still give descriptions below each individual image.
OK thank you. I figured it would have something to do with wanting to keep multiple related images together and that would be considered a project. That makes sense. When you dump a bunch of images in one project, you only get to name them really. Which, if you rely on the full project description for details, that also makes sense if you want to be verbose. I typically want to say a lot about my pieces, so I will probably make each one a project.
@davidbittorf thanks for ur relaying, because I'm a newbie, so artist friend has experience told me to convert PNG image to JPEG image and it successed
hey! this is a good intro, i will be revisiting it from time to time haha. i need some help tho, i uploaded a video to youtube and when i put the link in my artstation portfolio it tells me "Couldn't load video", do you have a solution?!?!? thanks!!!
Thank you for the question! Make sure you are NOT clicking on "Video Clip", instead, click on "Video" button and copy and paste the UA-cam url into the text box.
does it make any difference if I choose between Fan, Artist, Seller, Studio profiles...? Or is just to offer you the Pro Version right away and suggest related content?
@@davidbittorf In my case. When signing up as Studio or Seller, it sent me right away to "purchase the pro version". I don't know if you can be a Studio or Seller w/ free version
@@christopherrimplington3643 I think if your selling it makes sense to be “pro” since you get higher commission. That’s really the only reason I’m pro. I’m sure if you didn’t want to sign up for pro just pick artist and I’m sure you could still do all the same the same things without signing up for pro.
Perhaps sellers and studios need to be pro. I know sellers didn’t need to be pro before but perhaps they changed that. I think studios always needed to be pro.
can someone tell me how i make albums, for some reason I'm not able to create any albums in my portfolio when i try to manage it. and the help from artstation isn't helping at all lol, i can see the option "create new album" but clicking it doesn't do anything, i have tried multiple devices but nothing seems to be working rn.
Log into artstation. Go to "manage portfolio". You will see this button at the top of your portfolio if you are logged in. There will then be a button "Create new album" on the left hand side. Click on it and name it. When you upload a new project, scroll down on the right hand side and you will see an Albums section. Check the box of the album you want it to be a part of.
haha.... actually I just tried it and you are right it does nothing now. I'm trying in Chrome. I would suggest trying different browers, Edge, Safari, Firefox. If that still doesn't work, it may be impossible until ArtStation fixes it on their end.
Why I can't finish my profile,, I filled up all 3 step but its invalid,, I can't upload profile photo,, Do this app need computer or laptop,, I just use phone

Thank you! That’s great to hear. Make sure you have subscribed to state up to date. I release a new video every week.

thanks much, but I've got a big problem: all rendered images are bigger than 10 MB, and Artstation refuses to upload any image bigger than 10 MB.
Not sure why they would be so big. Try resaving as a jpg. Also should be only 72 dpi since it’s made for screens

Is there no way to change background color? The default darkness makes reading feel like staring into the sun imo...
I do not believe there is a way to change the background color.

Not sure. That’s a new thing they added since I signed up. I’m guessing just a highlights things that are relevant to the profile of choice.
