Just picked one up this past week sight unseen, but with the help of PJ 's complete walk through I had more questions than the sales guy in Nebraska could answer. He'd never saw one of these. Handles very good at 65 mph with 32mph winds from side and those westerly winds from the plains.
@@richardhall7217 No I don’t, 2nd long trip in it. First one was a month long 2 months after we picked it up after having cancer surgery we left for California the long way, Colorado to Oregon down hey 1 to HB Ca for brothers 80th then down to Oceanside for my other brother’s 77th. Then home. 4,762mi. Then 4 months ago a 7 wk trip to 18 states back east many stops along the revolutionary war trail and then home 6,976mi and no issues. Refrigerator was struggling in the 100 pluse heat even two fans sucking. Ascape group said to an ice bottle in there it got it down below 45 pretty quick, oh yeah the refrigerator lock broke it was swaying wide open that did not help the cooling process. But yes it’s a comfortable secure area when on the road. Sure beats a tent. But no full time for me. But be safe out there have fun and if see my Lil Tote on the road give us a toot. Happy New Year
I love this one. I think this is a good option for someone who wants to live off road, but doesn't want the long wait for a tiny home or have to worry about a huge rv.
Thank you for this informative video. You are the only person to show the interior storage space under the dinette area, which makes a huge difference.
Hello, great/thorough video. Thank you! I just have one very important comment for everyone. You mentioned that the awning is great for when it rains to keep the rain from going into the camper. I work in the Warranty side of the RV business. It is Vital that everyone know: Awning manufacturers including Carefree will NOT cover any warranty on a damaged awning (fabric or hardware) if it is left out in rain or wind. The manufacturers of RV awnings specifically state that their awnings are for sun shade only: "Awnings are designed to provide shade and protection from the sun. The effects of wind and rain on an awning are unpredictable and can cause severe damage to the awning and/or the vehicle. If wind or extended periods of rain are expected, roll up the awning."---Carefree Awning Manual - Trust me! We have had many customers insist that they were protecting the inside of their camper from rain with the awning only to wake up to a twisted awning arm...not covered under warranty. Close your windows and door to keep the rain out! Save yourself $
I always enjoy your videos. You do a great job. My wife and I are just starting to talk about buying a trailer. So your videos are a nice introduction.
I think I’m going to get a 14FL from Travel Lite. Has everything I need for one or two people. I still like the Ascape too. But the Travel Lite is more practical and it’s the same weight.
Love your videos. I just purchased a 2018 Ascape Plus. I love it. Some minor things I wish were different are you have to hold open the cabinet doors. I will be adding gas struts to hold them open. I wish the windows opened up a bit more and I wished the blinds were pull up not mini blinds. I also removed the table pedestal and attached it to a wooden base so I could use table outdoors. Overall this is a great little camper.
Would like to see how windows open, is there a Fridge? Can you remove some items for a price break? What is the floring made of? What info about the undercarriage?
Great questions! Aliner has added quite a few options and models since this video came out. I imagine the website will be the best resource for your inquiries. Here's the link: aliner.com/campers/ Thanks!
diane paquin I was in one it’s very well thought out but expensive for the size. But everything is expensive even the tear drops are 13000. The indoor shower model is 1000 less but the fridge is smaller. I like the outdoor one better. If you can do with out the air conditioning you can get it cheaper but that’s a package that includes the awning.
Our service department installs solar panels on all kinds of campers. I imagine there's a way to increase the size of the solar system for this trailer, but it'd likely serve you well to call our service department to see if it'd be a worthwhile upgrade for this size trailer. The engineers on this thing really did do a lot of thinking when putting the Ascape together.
Cassette toilets are what should normally be designed/engineered into most travel trailers. Not having to deal with the weight of a black water tank & all that goes with it, I say, GOOD riddance.
Again, have the cabinet doors open like an oven door. more storage that way on the backside. how long does the cassette toilet last before emptying? how do you clean it between dumpings?
Hi Loretta! Hopefully the engineers and designers at the manufacturers are taking note of your insights. Maybe they'll find your ideas work for their upcoming designs when they get into the mathematics of it all. (They're pretty good from an engineering and designing stand-point.) A cassette toilet may go a up to a week between dumpings, depending entirely on usage, of course. There are options for cleaning. It can be washed, chemical options are available in tablet or liquid forms, and the age-old/tried and true bucket of ice method has served campers and RVers well through the years. Thanks for watching!
Loretta Tay!or You can dump cassette into any toilet or dump station . You clean out with hose . Not too complicated. Chemicals break down waste and cut down smell .
You seem to carry all the little campers I like, intech, oops! Forgot the otners, may need to take a trip down to see you, my daughter is moving to Leander soon, where are you located?
FYI, I drive a very new International Eagle. No bathroom nor kitchen but my sleeping area makes most campers look cheap. The interior designs of todays campers should be as modern and elegant as what I live in while on the road for 6-10 weeks.
The tank capacities are rather small in this trailer, so you are typically aware of your usage and can estimate the volume you have remaining. There are no monitoring panels due to the small tank sizes. As far as the cassette toilet goes, same scenario. If you go and flush a few times, you're nearing capacity and need to dump the tank. Small trailer mindfulness and efficiency.
This would be a fantastic camper if it wasn’t built so cheap. If they had designed the interior like the sleeper berth in a bigRig this would be a huge winner. Of course get rid of bathroom and kitchen to create space for a bigger bed and better storage. Use better materials. The wood under the mattresses looked like Ikea rejects. Other than that great Vid on a camper that has huge potential.
So here’s the reality of getting into trailer camping. I just spent today looking for a small camper like the aliner. No one has one in my area Buffalo New York. I have a Chevy sonic and wanted an ultralight camper. I went to two dealers one was camping world. The smallest trailer they carried was 2500 pounds. They looked up the Vin number on my Chevy sonic and it showed no towing capacity. Because they could not find a towing capacity they would not sell me any trailer even if the weight was under 1000 pounds. Not a clam shell with a bed nothing. I’ve see dealer UA-cam videos with the dealer saying you could pull their trailer with a VW bug and even a golf cart. Not true. This trailer is a great idea gone wrong. I love it but can’t get it. If I have to get a pickup truck to pull it why not get something bigger at less cost? I don’t have an extra $50,000 for a truck or huge SUV. Sticking with tent camping I guess.
I had a Smart Car, no towing they said. Ha! Built my own teardrop on a Harbor Fright trailer and it pulled it great. When I was finished, the trailer weighed in at 368 lbs. Fully loaded with my gear, food, and 10 x 10 canopy tent, 480 lbs.
Peggy Boyd I went to the biggest RV show in NY last weekend. Everything was huge except for two Pods. $22,000 for a teardrop and my head hit the ceiling. And the dry weight is 1200.
Havefunwithit, for sure you will have to get serious about the trailer camper situation and trade the gas sipper. If you look a little closer folks can live fulltime in a Toyota Prius.
havfunwithit I have only one piece of advice; STAY AWAY FROM CAMPING WORLD! It’s OK to use them to look, but NEVER BUY FROM THEM! They are crooks of the first order. Just search UA-cam a bit and see how many people they have screwed over.
Whats hard to understand...small and lightweight means it can be towed by a smaller car...not everyone want to drag around a titanic on wheels and spend a fortune on gas to go 100 miles down the road.....muricans just stuck in their bigger is better
You'll need to consult your vehicle's owner's manual. There were several Jeep configurations. Some will tow this with ease and others might be pushing the limits of wisdom and safety. If you would like help, just call our service department to verify!
They need to design a trailer that two A liners connects to each side of the trailer with the side panels sliding up and into the roof with the A liners having pinch weather stripping that seals the connected trailers from the weather with lever latch locks that pulls the trailers together at two points on each trailer that has a walk in shower closed toilet and a small bench seat on each side of the back door. Leaving the two A liners doors able to open and close regularly. Then add in an atmospheric water generator to pull water vapor from the hot showers and from breathing to take care of condensation and a way to generate drinking water or water to wash dishes or clothing. A utility trailer were individuals can use the restroom then have a cartridge toilet that has a diaper like bag that abdorbs the urine and solid waste that has a draw string so each individual can takes care of their own stuff. Then place an atomizer shower head to conserve water use with the also being a cartridge shower with an absorbent bag to catch all the water from the shower that can then be placed in the trash. Saves having to dump or empty tanks somewhere and gets people to be responsible has they take care of their needs and leaving a nice clean fresh smelling utility trailer. An A liner utility trailer that families would use and all those hunters would love to own. 😎😍😵😲😊
If your not LIVING in these things then for the typical adult alone or with a small family (all that would fit in these in the first place), I think it's better for the same money to go on a decades worth of nice 2 week to a month long vacations all over the world not only the roads in this police state COUNTRY....And, remember, the cost of the trailer is only the beginning of what vacations cost so who knows you may be able to vacation your whole life for what this will run you......People need to stop being schizophrenic about what this is about, it's either a luxury thing to have or it's a half ass homeless way to live not BOTH!!!
Just picked one up this past week sight unseen, but with the help of PJ 's complete walk through I had more questions than the sales guy in Nebraska could answer. He'd never saw one of these. Handles very good at 65 mph with 32mph winds from side and those westerly winds from the plains.
Do you live full time in it?? that's my plan to do!!! I like the ascape My favorite!!

You present the RV world like a classy gold Rolex. Great job.
hands down, best tour videos.
I love this one. I think this is a good option for someone who wants to live off road, but doesn't want the long wait for a tiny home or have to worry about a huge rv.
This is like watching a pro bartender explaining how to make the world's best long Island iced tea.... and wanting it.
I want both now...thanx 🤣
Thank you for this informative video. You are the only person to show the interior storage space under the dinette area, which makes a huge difference.
Thank you for the look at the cassette toilet. That gives me a lot of inspiration for the pop-up conversion/restoration I'm doing.
Watched this a couple months ago. Thanks for the great in-depth look into this great little trailer!

I didn't know about awning warranties, or lack thereof.
Moral of your story is use awning for SHADE ONLY.
I always enjoy your videos. You do a great job. My wife and I are just starting to talk about buying a trailer. So your videos are a nice introduction.
Thanks!
The best walk through so far on the Escape.
I think I’m going to get a 14FL from Travel Lite. Has everything I need for one or two people. I still like the Ascape too. But the Travel Lite is more practical and it’s the same weight.
The wiring under cushions need a covering so you don't snag your stuff in and out.

Your hair looks great! Love the cut and color. :-)
Love it can the solar panel be upgraded to a bigger one ?
Absolutely! You can contact Princess Craft for more options and pricing 1-800-338-7123

For the price of this thing, you'd think they could have thrown in some wire loom and more sturdy boards over the sleeping/dinette area.
Cassette toilets are what should normally be designed/engineered into most travel trailers. Not having to deal with the weight of a black water tank & all that goes with it, I say, GOOD riddance.
yes it does have advantages for sure!
Where do you find them
Does the TV run on 12V power or require 115V AC power connection? How about the soundbar?
Having a difficult time finding one in the Panhandle of FL
Just bought one but I cant get the awning to go up after it has been down! Paper manual is no help!
Again, have the cabinet doors open like an oven door. more storage that way on the backside. how long does the cassette toilet last before emptying? how do you clean it between dumpings?

You seem to carry all the little campers I like, intech, oops! Forgot the otners, may need to take a trip down to see you, my daughter is moving to Leander soon, where are you located?
We're in Round Rock, not too far from Leander. We'd love to see you!
It's the perfect size for me. is light weight I can tow it with my minivan :)
Very nice. Is there a lock outside on the cassette door?
Yes, there is a lock on the cassette door!
Impressed but these tiny campers are crazy expensive. All of them seem to be.
Look good with that hair color I like it
FYI, I drive a very new International Eagle. No bathroom nor kitchen but my sleeping area makes most campers look cheap. The interior designs of todays campers should be as modern and elegant as what I live in while on the road for 6-10 weeks.
Where are the tank monitors located? For the freshwater and gray tanks? And how do you know the cassette toilet is already filled up?
And one follow up question: no stereo?
The tank capacities are rather small in this trailer, so you are typically aware of your usage and can estimate the volume you have remaining. The entertainment center is an option and it is available in a few configurations from the manufacturer.
I want one. What is the suggested retail price?
Cool video keep up the good work
Will do! Thanks!

I can have it as a home for minimalist living. However I'd prefer the full size wet bath.
You didn't say so I assume the TV isn't a 12v , too bad
I just couldn't imagine sleeping on those cushions every night either...im used to my sleepnumber.
Where's the other half?
Is "hitch weight" the same as "tongue weight"?
It is!

What is the weight on the Ascape
It's perfect for me but the price is just not realistic...20k for this?! Come on man...this thing is worth 10k$ Maxxed!
You can find these used for 10 or 12k, I have seen them a few years old being sold online.
just checked out the price... I can't believe people paying that much for that around 17k
OUCH...we bought an old fiberglass trailer cleaned it up and modernized and it's way nicer for under 6k...
Yes, all compacts seem to be more expensive for size, why?
because they can be pulled by most anything and they are selling.
Russell Wood Do like them, can’t really justify 17k though
Whats hard to understand...small and lightweight means it can be towed by a smaller car...not everyone want to drag around a titanic on wheels and spend a fortune on gas to go 100 miles down the road.....muricans just stuck in their bigger is better
Nice, price?
How much is it $$
Around $17,000... :D
In January 2018 it is priced at $19,000 (with the optional a/c, tv/Bluetooth soundbar & cassette toilet).
What is the dry weight of the trailer?
1500 lbs
James Inglis 1600lb
....ehh.. it gives ya something else to sell, i suppose... but i'll keep my ol' aliner... it works great for me ; )
Prices are inflated, because so many people are moving to Texas. Plus Hurricane Harvey.
We haven't changed our prices on trailers or truck campers. We are consistent with dealerships across the nation.
Princess Craft
That's good to know, thank you.
Rather B Fishing . .
6 x 10 cargo trailer build out for half the price.
Can I pull it with my4door jeep?

Great!
Outside shower?
I see it
End of video shows the exterior shower on "driver's side", yes!
I just love this unit but having a hard time convincing my wife :(
Get the unit and trade in the wife for a newer model with low low mileage. ;)

Sounds like you have a business plan. Build it and they will buy.
Micro and convection?
Just microwave, not convection.
2 burner range top and sink. No oven/microwave...build a fire! It's camping! Enjoy!
Great!
Tv play dvds?
Yes
price price price what is the price
3:55 lol 😂 4:10
You know these businesses and corporations have a hell of a nerve calling a shit bucket a toilet and a bathroom
Nothing like shitting in the kitchen to say CAMP-OUT.
First thing I'd do is take a big dump so no one would want to share the trailer with me.
beleve me that toilet is not for taking a dump.

Wow! Angry much?
