The best part is when he goes outside you see the trail of corpses he made earlier.

@@greaselord8553 I wish the mod didn't insert the amazon rainforest everywhere from day one, but instead gradually grew plants and shit around the map as the time passes. Then it would be a great mod.

@@troglodyte3745 exactly, you'd have to wait for ten years for it to all to grow, even if you turned the erosion speed to very fast (500% speed multiplier) it'd still take 2 years... And I've never had a playthrough last that long

Same thing happened to me in the gas station, luckily i did a flash door but the horde saw me when i did they were like 15 zeds maybe more, didn't take long for the door to break lol
@@luzy7959 me with lvl 10 aiming getting jump scared , fired a shot and then get gang banged by a horde of incoming 50 zombies , “Oh well , I chose this life , just another day I guess” and by life I meant profession , dooming myself to “welp here comes the entire town’s population” to eternity each time I encounter even a single zombie , because I chose the firearm lifestyle . Ok but in my defense , shooting guns is addicting I don’t know why even if it’s in a game
@@SordidusFellatio guns can be the most powerful weapon in the game you just have to make sure you have an escape plan and enough ammo to compensate for the noise you're gonna make
@@SordidusFellatio learning which guns are best at certain aiming levels and which ones are the loudest and quietest helps a lot too
@@anth0ny740 exactly this. i would never use a gun indoors unless i have a route to escape safely, and even then i will avoid and draw them out of the building and fight there. always thought claustrophobic was just free points because who fights indoors anyways

@@Cyberdeathcore I Have a run through with 10 years and barricaded world but not darkness is coming. I cant think of anything that would tamper with either mod so I think it would work

I shove the door usually to see if anything starts attacking the door on the other side, door flashing can get buggy and have had it where the zombie clipped through and got me.
That was so terrifying.. geezus.

Twitchers from Afraid of Monsters is a nice touch, I feel normal around them considering I played Cry of fear and Afraid of monsters. Just more appropriately on edge.
check out the schizophrenia mod, adds fake events, zombies and sound cues. You can also pair it with mods like lingering voices and reflexes or random/customizable zombie spawns.

Ok I don't think people say it enough but I've been immensely enjoying the jump scare sounds ever since they added them. I take note of it every time it happens. Such a good underrated addition. xD

its also great because it lets you know theres a zombie. idk if its just a rare thing but in some places, especially roads and outside environments w the 10 year later mod i sometimes miss zombies because they are so slow and mesh well with the background

This is a perfect example on how you don’t need 4K unreal engine games to have a fear experience, I actually find games like this and rpgmaker indie horrors the best when it comes to jumpscares

it's scarier than horror games because there's more than just "woah sudden noise", there's more *weight* behind the fear. you've spent a lot of time working up your character, so any threat is magnified.
that's why minecraft easy mode isn't scary, but hardcore could really put you on edge. it's not that the mobs are scary, you're put on edge by the stakes at hand
trash and corpses mod is a really good combo with 10 years later, i really recomend it

The dumbest thing I ever did in this game was make a deaf character. LOL
I was looting around a house, not worrying about a thing, because I had so many perk points from being deaf!
Then, after looting a cabinet I turned around and there was a zombie right in my face. I screamed (you know, a deep and manly scream) and killed it.
After that, every time I'm looting I get paranoid and I am now constantly spinning my view around. Which still scares me because there are so many blind angles and I can't hear footsteps or growling or anything. :(
@John Wick Deaf also removes the small awareness circle behind the character, making it way easier for a zombie to sneak up on you.

Very smart move, my dude. The bodies out front at the end only prove that was the correct answer.
Even better, it was the player that left that trail of carnage. (For obvious reasons, zombie victims tend to walk away after dying.)
It illustrates the lengths the player has gone to to reach that building before encountering something that scared even them.
