I considered the weather with my little boat. If it starts raining heavily while I'm out on the water I can simply put a tarpaulin over the whole boat, and the oars can still stick out the sides while I can see out the front. Or perhaps my pop-up spinnaker sail (which has a large window in it) will provide a large enough canopy to cover the whole inside of the boat, I've not tried it yet.

Everyone picks those inflatable kayaks. ROW BOAT ALL THE WAY. It's very stable, very dry, very comfortable, and a good toughened inflatable 2 person boat packs down way smaller and lighter than any inflatable kayak I've seen. (And mostly row it FORWARDS, not backwards like a fool!) It may not be as fast as your kayak, but what's the rush? It's not that much slower, and I'd rather spend more time on the water anyway!
The boat does about 9mpg at about 20 knots. I don’t tend to use any more than £35 if I’m sensible. However, if you want it to drink the fuel and you go everywhere flat out then it will drink.
What about the Intex excursion 5. Very affordable and owners mod theirs with all sorts of extras, the most popular being a wood floor and electric trolling motor. Ok, so you don't get the speed and its not suitable for open sea but its still by far the cheapest was to get on the water for the family.

Regarding van plate - my mistake, not sure why I would bother covering it anyway. After making that video I did work that part out. Doesn't matter what you have, Just enjoy it - now more than ever
I take a bucket full of faith in the preparation I have done before venturing out to sea. It’s easier when u live by the sea and get to use it every few days. It’s just like jumping in your car 😎. As long as u have radio spare engine phone flares and enough sense not to go out in bad weather and wear your kill cord u b ok. More likely to run out of fuel than break down. It pays to talk to others boaters when launching letting them know where u are going and look out for each other 😃👍👍

BeMoreBear They are reputed to be steady boats, as they are built tough and heavy. The factory burned down in late 80's or early 90's. They are plenty in Norway still. I've got a 1977 Mørebas 15" myself, just bought it, one owner from new, done some minor repairs and gonna launch it tomorrow 😊

I would feel safer if I had a spare self inflatable boat & motor inside a boat and might save some money too if anything goes wrong.
Ha ha ha- I do take a spare motor. A 6 HP tohatsu and I have had to use it in the past. As for inflatable.... let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

ALEX McCULLOUGH it’s a Morebas 17. Scandinavian boat from back in the day. Estimated around 1980 something.

It is a Mørebas from 70`s or 80`s. Made in Norway in a small village called Malmefjorden, near Molde & Kristiansund.
