This was fascinating. I especially appreciated his comments about amateur officials, and the important role they have in ensuring that the games get played.
Yep, it seems there is a real shortage of amateur umps due to how much trouble they have to deal with from the fans. It's really too bad.

I remember him from Jim Evans school in 1996, seemed like a sharp guy. I think he was AA or AAA then.

Jim is right, although I only call youth rec games, i might tell my wife that a certain kid was playing…..she would ask if his team won , and I won’t have any idea!
