    Some people pick up where it ended with the next person. The saying goes, "How to get over someone is to date someone else." I dont think there is a "perfect time" But making new memories with someone, when you are young you should date as many people as possible ( that doesn't mean sex) to find out what you really like and dont like in a soul mate. I don't agree with waiting years to dates cuz that's wasting years of your life. Because most likely the other person has moved on and even if they come back years later they have moved on with other people doing that in between time and waiting years around for someone to come around you don't figure out yourself and what you like because you're focusing in the past you need to focus in the present and in. the now.

      I like the idea of picking up where you left off because I think that's true. I also don't think there's a right or wrong amount of time because we're all different. On the same note I think we should date different people in order to find who/what you like.

    Perfect song for this video...u have been missed..It takes me a cool year to get over someone ...I don't get how people move on so quick but everyone is different...however if u r over that person I still think it's important to give yourself at least 6 months to yourself....a lotta people just don't like being alone..or they just don't know how.. yea I'm alone I'm bored at times a lil lonely but I got a peace of mind and again I need this time to myself

      Hey, mama! I know I been MIA. Things are pretty hectic but thanks for sticking with ya girl. You are right. Some times I sit at home alone and I'm bored but at least I don't have to worry about whether or not someone is cheating on me or doing me dirty. I personally have enjoyed singledom. I have experienced so many new things by hanging out with myself.

    It took me about 4 months for me to get over my ex after the break up. Our relationship lasted a little over 2 years but it was easy to get over him because at the time of the break up I was becoming more comfortable in my own skin and I knew I deserved better. I stayed single for about 4 years until I met my current boyfriend. I always tell people that even though my ex treated me so badly and the relationship was rough, I thank God for that relationship because if I hadn't gone through that, I wouldn't have been able to appreciate what it's like to have a real man.

    Honesty , I was in a 5 year relationship. I actually mentally broke up with them 6 months - a year before we broke up. We tried and agreed to move forward. In my heart I took 5 months to get over it. I started dating maybe a month later and i wasn't looking to date him it was strictly conversation and i know I know I shouldn't have but it blossomed into a wonderful thing I think. I did however move too quickly because I carried some baggage that caused so many trust issues. I think it's fair to say give yourself time to be single but sometimes someone else can come and help you heal. SOMETIMES!!

      And I agree with this. God may plant someone in your life during that recovery time whose purpose it to be a confidant/companion. That can ultimately lead into something great but it's important not to try and jump the pursuit so soon after breaking up with someone else.

    I agree, I do believe people are afraid to be alone. But you can't know what you want and who, without taking the time to be alone and get to know yourself deeply. I do believe that some people might "recover" faster than others, but a lot of people are out here in relationships but are still hooked on ex #xyz. Just my 2 💭

    Before I met my current partner I was single for a good 2 years. I am so over that person and when another person mentions them I laugh at how I dodged that bullet. I totally under what you mean. I love videos like that

      I have that about one of my exes. When I think back I'm like "thank God I gained the strength to walk away AND be ok."

      I totally understand I called it liberated and years later he found me on FB and was professing his love for me. I laughed to myself and said thank you and politely blocked that mess from my FB and all other social media.

    I believe that you should take some time to get over a person so that you can fully be over that person before you get into another relationship. and another thing people don't want to be alone. also people see other people in relationships they want to have one. some people use other people as a rebound so they can get over their EX or to show them what they was missing when they were there. I think when celebrities jump out of relationship and then two to three months there in another one they are used to being in a relationship so they just continue that path. with me I'm not in a relationship I'm single right now but it took me in my last relationship a year and a half to get over that person so that I can move on. I needed that time so that I can be fully committed to whatever relationship I get in and not have any baggage from the previous relationship that I was in. people need to take time to get over the other person so they won't have any baggage bring to the relationship and that can hurt the other person that you are with.

    I think it has a lot to do with the relationship that ended. My college bf and I dated for 2 1/2 years and I think it actually took me that long to get over him. I started dating someone 9 months after that break up. So for the first half of that relationship I was still working on getting passed the previous one. He ended up cheating on me, and after us being official for 2 1/2 years, I was over him in 3 months. I thought about the differences between those 2 relationships and realized that I truly was in love with the first one, but was only in love with who the second one said he was going to be. #2 would always talk about all the things he was gonna do and how life was going to be, yada yada yada. None of it came to fruition, NONE OF IT! When I realized what his true worth was and how shitty he actually treated me, I was beyond over it. #1 was so very different! There was a mutual love and respect for each other. We were both still pretty you and life was pulling us in different directions. I can actually say that I still care for him but in a different way. I really just want him to be happy because I know he is a good man and a good person.

      Katie!!! Hi, love. I agree if the relationship was a good one and you all truly loved each other and still broke up for whatever reasons then it can definitely be harder to get over that person. On the flip, if the relationship was a shitty one and you are strong enough to recognize it then I would hope it would be easier to move past that relationship. I also appreciate that you can still have love for your ex because he was a genuine person and more than likely positively impacted your life.

    seems to me far too many people these days have no problem being polygamous, and/or cheating, so going on to someone new is no biggie. far too many people aren't really with anyone, they just stick with convenience.. i have been single for 12 years, now and i'm not happy about it but i just don't trust my judgment after my last relationship ended cause he was a serial cheater.

    • @OnlyMeMarilyn
      @OnlyMeMarilyn  7 років тому

      Yes Susan B! People want to be players and have a plethora of "mates" just for the look of it. I see that a bit as an insecurity of those people, though. I want a forever relationship and that does not seem to be what a lot of people want.

    what if the other person doesn't move on

    • @OnlyMeMarilyn
      @OnlyMeMarilyn  7 років тому

      That seems like a problem for them. In break ups someone will always take it harder but you can't force anyone to be with you so you have to move on.
