Well, I'd say, the F14 is an early 4 generation aircraft and therefore requires two crew members. Jester is just the crutch to overcome this for SP 😅 I wouldn't know how to make it better than that.
As a lover of F-14 a few hints are worthwile to add; firstly if Jester has a Bandit target on TWS and you ask Jester to change scan distance HE WILL LOOSE THE TWS OF THE TARGET arrgh, and may or may not reaquire it !!!! In multiplayer you can not go into seat 2 so ensure you have the button that allows you to fire the pheonix hot off the rails (ie using its own radar rather than looking for your radar) assigned on your stick or keyboard, otherwise targets less than 15 miles will probably be missed by the pheonix lofting first rather than tracking immediately ! lastly Jesters is a scaredy cat and the amount of times he has ejected and I have hand to land my very large convertible is crazy. Cheers!
Thanks for this. I’m finding Jester quite an extra workload. I guess this plane was really designed for multiplayer. I am waiting for the air-to-air refuelling upgrade for Iceman!

The biggest thing i found to help refuelling, is not to do precontact too early, and they have to say "cleared contact", if they say return precontact, even though they roll the hose out, u can, as jester would say, 'keep stickn the tip in' all day, and it wont hook up, an u think u suck, an then rage quit.. once i figured that out got way easier (or im just dumb haha)

Small remark: switching from AIM-54 to AIM-7 doesn’t exit from TWS.
The target priority order is AIM-54 shooting plan. So you loose the numbers with AIM-7, but you’re still in TWS scan.
All jokes aside about how hard it is to use Jester, I think it's really a brilliant system. Just think of how daunting a task it is to make something so wide and so varied streamlined so well is a feat of programming. And this is 2 years old. They have fixed a lot of the bugs and added more functionality.
A human jester? Surely you mean a human RIO? I mean I can't imagine being a jester would qualify you for operating the relevant systems.

My Jester hates me for getting him killed twice. So he refuses to lock any targets outside of 10 miles lmao
He also won’t STT lock when I have sparrows selected. Just says “can’t do that” “nope” “nuh uh”
I figured it out. He will not lock BVR targets once any enemy is WVR and he is also not set up for WVR combat.
VOICE ATTACK ....might work really well for jester if it works ....
How's your Jester is smart enough to lock all four target simultaneously by default? My Jester only smart enough to lock one at the time, most of the time, the radar only shows one target, where there are multiple right next to it... my radar just doesn't show them? How? Why.

Although I follow the tut to the letter I often get 'no can do' from my RIO when selecting TWS 'targets by number', any idea why please?

Jester is hideously annoying
Even with AI, you still have a lot to manage using Jester, George or Petrovich.
When ever I play with Jester does a piss poor job tracking anything with his radar which always leaves me confused. The most confusing thing is, how on earth you would STT lock specific targets with VAICOM Jester AIRIO when you can't see the menu.
Ah I've been misunderstanding scan range. It should be called display range

It's a common logic mistake when learning any radar. The waves they emit go off to infinity. Usable Information returned is finite in distance. The range you want to see usable infor is selectable for ranging purposes and SA.

STT works too well, but I don't know how TWS still works?
Sometimes I automatically become a TWS, Sometimes it's not used And there are times when only one of the two goals is locked on

Your Jester will try to make the best decision based on the threats, it can be frustrating.
Jester for pilot only has a page and a half instructions and I cannot get control 1-8 to do anything. My mouse allows me to point, but nothing

Thanks for the nice tutorial. Question. If i set him manually to scan high, and he finds a target and i tell him to lock it, and that enemy will then start a rapid descent, will Jester follow him or will the lock break as soon as he leaves that high scan area?
On an STT lock does the misfile go pit bull?
How come the radar has a maximum detection range of 110nm at post doppler search but you managed to lock a target 200nm away in your aim 54 phoenix missile vid and fire it at 140nm?
I think it's target size-dependant? For the long shots didn;t I have a large target?(which doubles the lock range more or less)
hey my dumb question for today! what have you got setup as the select button when looking at the AI menu with track ir?? cheers (just got track ir and still setting it up)
The same button you press to open his menu is the same button you press to select an option that’s highlighted. I figured that out using the camera movement select option for his dialogue wheel. I just kept pressing obvious buttons like enter, space bar, clicking, etc. until I eventually pressed A(default Jester dialogue wheel button) to exit his menu and it instead selected what I had highlighted.

errm yes but you have to have a very small mission

no it isnt....most of all you need a SSD, my HDD can handle all other palnes but not the F14. So i bought a extern SSD with USB3 cable and WOW, now all smooth runnign !

Yeah but finding training targets isnt the same as chasing a Mirage or an F15 in multiplayers. Sometimes Jester doesnt see sh*t :)
What if you try for a stt but he says can't do it? What's that about?
When the hostile is at a certain aspect/alt/range an STT solution may not be possible. Either wait till a solution is poss or try a PAL.
What does the option "go silent" do in BVR?
Turns your radar off.

Is there a way to put all of these Jester commands in some keyboard shortcuts or something? Its cumbersome to try to find them midflight in the rotary selection wheel...
Yeah it’s possible but with sooo many commands you’re better off just using the wheel and getting used to memorizing it.

@@-_Nuke_- If that program can replicate keybinds then yes of course. Again though, you'll have to not only remember all of his different commands, but which ones you have set up to which voice command.
Write a script and talk slower.
