I love these small station you have built and have been looking forward to seeing Glossop burst I to life, but from an organisational point of view I think it would make sense to finish Picadilly so you won't be leaning over Glossop to build it!
Thank you, TBH it wouldn't make any difference as I can get to the station throat from either side, but looks like many would prefer Piccadilly throat first. Clearly to finish modifying New Mills first. Thanks both of you.

Hi John - you're like me - the trains sometime don't run for a number of weeks - too busy on scenery construction works ! Must have been a right pain having to make the alterations but at least it's done now and the trains can run unhindered. Strange one with the top tunnel seemingly "falling" although it obviously didn't - gremlins at work ! Good high level view of the whole layout - plenty packed in the space you have. Cheers Euan

You solved the gap problem very well John, and the socket idea for the ohle is very clever a great solution. but i wonder what the heck happened inside the tunnel to make the height drop?

Great work yet again and great solving techniques its such a shame things go wrong but as layout builders thats what we have to put up with but its great to see how you solve the issues and pull it back and hay presto all back i know it takes time to solve and yet how strange that the back end dropped down like that cant seem to thinknhow that has happend Also i think maybe wrong start working on the front bit but then doing that you dont want to ruin anything you do 😊
Hi, thank you. Yes very strange how the tunnel suddenly was blocked, the mountain was rigid, fixed correctly and the WS polystyrene risers had not moved. I think I was visited by the layout pixies causing chaos. I can certainly do Piccadilly throat first. Well there is fettling and there is John style fettling. You're so right to say that however lovely it looks it simply has to work. Everything looks to have turned out fine, and it was inspired to use that wire wool as a base layer. I thought the obstruction to the line at the far end was extraordinary. I am sure you have run trains along the viaduct but maybe not up the incline and through the tunnel to get there? Poor New Mills and its trees, but the tree surgeon will be along shortly. Stephen
Yes I think New Mills trees need more than a tree surgeon, lol. Ive got some acrylic sheets to put up now so hopefully all new mods will be protected. Time will tell. I still cannot understand why that opening above the tracks, trains went through there very happily, in fact never caused any issues. I ran the wagon with a 68, expecting it to appear on the other side of the mountain, yet all i heard was spinning wheels. Nothing has changed, the mountain sat correctly, and the incline was secured. Oh well the good ole stanley sorted it out.
Thanks Charlie, TBH I would have never used it on the layout. I have a massive clump for around 20 years not touched it except moving it out of the way in search of something else. I cannot believe how amazing it proved,I wanted something to hold its shape, there we go.
Heck of a recover story there John! Very impressive I must say. Regarding the shrinking tunnel at they back, I know that they say that a layout grows over time, but that is taking the proverbial a bit wasn't it? 😆 But everything is looking a lot smarter and done in true Warner style too😉 Plus it gives us all hope that no matter what hits us as we build out layouts and beyond there is always a way to fix it that can improve it at the same time! Definitely do the Piccadilly throat first. Even though it's a bigger project it makes sense to me to work outwards. With your small tree section, why not use a piece of wood with a magnet to lift it out - embed a piece of metal among the trees.
Hi John, thank you. Yes the Piccadilly throat will be before Glossop. I will, however build it by standing inside the layout as its closer to work on. Itll be an interesting build with some easy bits along with some quite challenging sections to make look convincing. I presume by the 'small tree section' you mean trees along New Mills Central? Thank you for the suggestion and it could work well. Although, I am going to use clear acrylic as I want to see through, rather than an opaque screen. Today Ive been replacing / upgrading the trees and already it looks so different, so definitely dont want to hide it. Let's see how it goes.

Hi, yes magnets were my first thought after WHWW did such in OO gauge, but the surface area on the base of each mast (the woodhead sort especially) is so small it made it very unstable and the magnets easily broke off when I removed the masts from the baseboard. The idea is possible in N gauge but needs thinking about at the design stage. As Ive printed and assembled so many masts, its a massive job to start again. The socket system works well. They might go on wonk from time time time but there very easy to correct. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Fantastic layout!.....starting on lower section on piccadily would reduce damage to Glossop if you started that first.

With your catenary have you thought of using small magnets they will hold in place but move if knocked and not break like glue would.
