  • This was a gathering to celebrate Jamaica's record producer and entrepreneur Clement "Coxone" Dodd, who was born January 26th 1932, and died May 4th 2004.
    Featuring:- The Bassies, Roy Richards (with Roy & Enid), Kevin Johnson, Bunny & Skully,
    Ranking Trevor, The Jays, Ray I, King Stitt, Desmond Irie, Derrick Harriott,
    Otis Gayle, Bunny Brown, Lord Creator, Stranger Cole, (Junior Byles),
    Prince Jazzbo, Cornet Campbell, (Lord Parkes), The Silvertones, Weepow,
    Sugar Minott, Ernest Wilson, The Melodians, Errol Dunkley,
    Earl Morgan (from The Heptones), Frankie Paul.
    Coxsone started out with his Downbeat sound system in 1954, and progressed into
    recording artists in 1956 starting the World Disc label.
    In 1963 Coxone opened Studio One at 13 Brentford Rd. Kingston Jamaica.
    The Studio One record label is synonymous with Jamaican Music
    having pioneered the birth of Jamaican Music; Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae.
    In 1991 Clement Seymour "Sir Coxsone" Dodd received the Jamaican Order of Distinction.
    So significantly successful was Studio One, that Brentford Rd. was renamed
    Studio One Boulevard in Coxone's honor in 1994, shortly before his passing.
    Even today The Skatalites Studio One rhythms continue to be "Versioned" by new artists!
