Thank you Dr. Cooper. I really appreciate the Lutheran perspective. You mentioned sleep paralysis. I experienced it as a boy. I had dreamed of a dark winged figure screaming and chasing me from the sky. I immediately awoke and thought how glad I was that it was only a dream. I suddenly felt pressure on the side of my body pushing me down into the bed. I couldn't move or speak. I was completely terrified and didn't know what was happening to me. I could only lay there as it continued shoving my body down into the mattress. I finally screamed in my mind "Jesus please help me!". It immediately released me! I could finally move so I covered my head with my blanket. I began hearing something walk toward my bed. The footsteps stopped right next to me. All I could do was continue to earnestly pray and it walked away. I couldn't make myself look...the fear was too much. Even after 35 years, it gives me chills to write about it. I'll never forget it. The whole experience was too vivid and horrifying for me to believe it was only in my mind.

There is a biological basis for sleep paralysis. I have experienced that several times. However, I have also experienced similar to what you describe, both with and without sleep paralysis.

@@annalynn9325 the spiritual and 'physical' (as in, biological and mental phenomena) do interact. It's entirely plausible that something demonic in nature or origin can manifest itself in some phenomenon that's able to be studied by medicine or psychology.

@annalynn9325 there's a biological basis for everything that occurs. But sleep paralysis is almost always connected to a demon called a spiritual spouse. It has to do with lust, rejection, bitterness, rebellion, lonliness.
I know because I have had many of them, one of them was very very strong, one of the worst cases I have ever heard of, and I am a deliverance minister.

When I was in middle school, we had someone who would frequently curse God in our kitchen living with us. At one point, his "episodes" would be followed by the bedroom doors in our home slamming shut. Just once as opposed to multiple slamming. Later in life, I was a police officer in SoCal. I encountered a lot of really bad people. I was a back up officer on a disturbance call. The individual in question was heavily involved in the occult. He described this with some detail to the primary officer. He noted the primary officer didn't believe him. That officer chuckled a bit. He turned around to me and said, "But you do". I felt the darkness you mentioned in your opening. I replied, "Yes, I do". Presumably, this person knew I was baptized. It was very unsettling. Fortunately, I can take comfort in my baptism.

I was in a rough patch at one point, and I made the foolish and misguided mistake of turning to the occult, out of desperation. It wasn't anything terribly serious to me, at the time. It seemed to me that I was merely experimenting with, and testing different spiritual traditions. However, it started to have effects on me. Some visible. Some not so much.
I won't bore you with a long comment, or an autobiography though. Long story short, I got to the point that I experienced regular, intense, oppressive episodes of sleep paralysis, of varying types. Some were intensely pleasurable. Almost sexual. Like I was being seduced. Other times I was tricked into believing that I had somehow been killed, only to "wake up", and find everything normal. Other times, I would hear voices, which would linger for a minute, even after I had woken up. I once had a friend in college started crying, when I would recall episodes in detail. And I still have trouble keeping my composure when I think about, or speak about such things in detail. I generally try to forget about that period in my life.
This stuff is serious. That is when I realized that this is no game. God is good. He is here. So is the devil and his angels. And we must seek refuge and salvation in our Lord.

Very fresh and informative. Appreciate the naturalistic comparison is made here to tease apart the more subtle and gross aspects, including the extremes of assuming demonic possession from psychological maladies. In history there has been a lot of misunderstandings between a psychological issue and an actual demonic presence/effect/possession in a person's psyche and spiritual life.

One night I was out at IHOP with a friend and I was telling her about God and Christianity. There was a woman behind us that seemed to hear me at a certain point throughout our conversation and from the look on her face she instantly hated me. lol. Hated what I was doing. She pulled a string out and started mumbling something while staring at me, and wrapping the string around her finger, over and over again. My friend said she believed that woman was trying to cast a "binding" spell on me. But I'm a temple of the Holy Spirit, and even my own idiocy doesn't change that. Better luck next time, lady. lol.

Good for you! I live in Taiwan. My kids were climbing trees in the park. This older lady walks by and scolds my kids to come down. "Don't you know this is Ghost Month! (The supposedly unluckiest month in the pagan folk calendar.) Without missing a beat, my oldest said, "I'm baptized. Jesus protects me." I was so proud. I wanted to add that even if something bad did happen, Jesus was in control. But I kind of missed my chance. And I would have dampened the scene more than a little.

    1. I've noticed that EO and Lutheranism seem to have similar views on exorcism... that any priest/pastor may conduct an exorcism and use mostly scripture and the eucharist to do so... only difference is that if its really bad the EO will take the person to an monastery... whereas roman catholics will have specialized priests for the job
    2. Below is a link to Pints of Aquinas that is an interview with a roman catholic exorcist that is really good

My doctor in Vanderbilt clinic insisted that I make an appointment with Adult Psychiatry for my anxiety problem, and just because apparently I was a borderline "crock", although a quiet, reticent one, if I may say so. There are other reasons for our bad relationship, but I won't go into that here. I didn't want to have to endure the psych involvement, but I did make the appointment, rather than fight it. I was sent to have an intake appointment on a Saturday, when there was literally no one else in the clinic but the student evaluator doing the intake and me. We talked, and she did the usual tests of sanity, and I explained how I got to where I was, as well as I could in the given time. But before I was assigned to a therapist, I told her what I had been told by a lady, who used to teach at George Peabody College, now a part of Vanderbilt. She was my best therapist after my breakdown, a decent, kind-hearted psychologist, who had taught physiological psychology at Peabody, and at Vanderbilt after the merger. She said that on her side of the street, Peabody, there were many people who believed that there were "more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy," of the materialism of the materialists. But on the Vanderbilt side of the street, where the School of Medicine was, as well as their sciences, which were all of greater worldly reputation than Peabody (a teachers college), if you can't see it, feel it, hold it in your hand, and of greatest importance, measure it, it does not exist, and to think otherwise is to be insane. I had encountered that contemptuous attitude quite a lot during my breakdown, so I didn't doubt it. My question to her was whether she thought this would be an issue (I did), and whether there was a way that I could get someone friendlier to my beliefs and my history, which included a heavy experience of demonic oppression?
Here, the Providence of God showed itself. She said she knew very well what I was saying, and she was afraid it was true. She said that in Brazil, where she was from (!!!), no one, even the scientists, doubted the existence of the supernatural. It was too real in the experience of everyone. But here, it was very true that the psychiatrists were unlikely to tolerate it. She recommended that I not try to get a therapist at Vanderbilt, and that was how she concluded her evaluation! Thank you, Jesus, for that mercy.

Spirit spouse. Trying to cause problems and alienate you in your marriage. A lust demon. Comes at night. Tries to keep you exhausted by keeping you from resting well, making you tired all day. Promotes strife and misunderstandings in relationships with your closest loved ones, including parents and children. Hates to see you loved in a godly manner. The spirit was probably saying she doing it again in reference to you reaching out for your husbands protection, which God will honor against the spirits interests... also these spirits can mimick anyone in dreams including your husband. If you see him in a dream dont make love, save that for real life. IF you have another dream like what Im talking about, repent for any sin comitted when you wake up and ask God to forguve and destroy the devils plans
Cling to Jesus, and your husband. Confess any sexual sin, ask forgiveness, and watch a deliverance vid for spiritual spouse on Noah Hines channel. The dreams will stop before long.

I'm a confirmed Lutheran but I've been irreligious for the past 20-ish years and have been involved with the occult off and on. Recently for whatever reason I decided to try saying the Orthodox "Jesus prayer" before bed and each time I did it I was demonically attacked afterward. One time I had really bad nightmares, one time the TV in my bedroom switched itself on in the middle of the night, etc. I don't think I'm possessed but I think I'm under demonic influence and they really don't want me to go back to Christianity. So I kind of mentally made a deal with them that I'd stop praying if they just went back to leaving me alone. But I know I can't just leave it at that kind of stalemate forever. What should I do to start moving back toward the church without being constantly under demonic attack, do I need some form of exorcism or to get my house blessed by a priest or pastor?

I have a psychotic disorder. I have experienced things that could be taken as demonic, but when going on antipsychotics most of that stuff disappeared. Not saying demons don't exist, they do, but we have to be very careful describing something as demonic (acknowledging a psychotic person's ideas is the worst thing one can do). I like to put things in two categories: what is of good and what is of evil. Whether it's demonic or not I find being less of importance. The cure is the same for all evil, Jesus Christ. He is our hope in all! That's how I stay grounded. There is a battle going on between good and evil in the world. We know who has won the victory, don't we? 😉 ✝️

That being said, the Bible affirms at least some kind of demonic activity exists, but as you have said, we know who won the victory and every delving on the demonic, if necessary at all, should point towards Christ's victory rather than the usual human obsession with evil.

"Lane, Ph.D., has won a Prescrire Prize for Medical Writing and teaches at Northwestern University. He is the author of Shyness: How Normal Behavior Became a Sickness." : "the enigma surrounding Carl Jung's Red Book... The haunting book ends mid-sentence, just after its author concedes, "My acquaintance with alchemy took me away from it . . ." It's a tantalizing end to a book full of riddles.
Jung's unfinished sentence isn't the only... mystery...
Cooper notes in "Jung Confronts His Demons," a fascinating article in... Wall Street Journal, Jung's manuscript and paintings about communing with... demons (his own and those of others) were kept "in a locked cupboard in [his]... house... after his death in 1961." In 1984, Cooper continues, the manuscript "was transferred to a bank." Norton published it in translation... a half-century after its author had died. The book's editor and translator... Shamdasani, had spent five years trying to decipher and interpret the manuscript, and a further three trying to persuade the Jung family to allow him to publish it...
Although Jungians have been quick to downplay any suggestion that the book records more than its author's spiritual crisis(1) the book, which Jung... documents such matters as his conversations with the winged "Philemon" during his daytime walks... And though Shamdasani insists that Jung was engaging in a controlled experiment-"There wasn't anything like a psychosis"-the wrinkle in that story is that Jung's unusual hallucinations appear to have been involuntary...
In one waking dream-state, Jung claimed to hear a bird-girl announce, "Only in the first hour of the night can I become human, while the male dove is busy with the twelve dead." At other moments, the influential thinker-either haunted by premonitions of the First World War or hyper-aware of the growing threat of European militarism-saw what Cooper calls a "landscape submerged by a river of blood carrying forth not only detritus but also dead bodies"-possibly a premonition of the devastation that would persist in Europe for the next five years.
Cooper's astute article doesn't try to settle either way whether Jung was mad or sane to experience such visions. His account of the book, as well as an exhibition at UCLA that's been organized around its thoughts and paintings", see www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/side-effects/201005/carl-jungs-frightening-demons

As a non-Christian he was definitely playing with fire in some of the stuff that goes on in the red and black books.
What’s shocking to me though is how much those experiences got him close to the truth. He even wrote in his journals near the end of his life that he couldn’t square the prophecies in Daniel with a natural explanation and was becoming convinced that the Bible was inspired.

I don’t know who to read up on for this, but I come across Easter orthodox inspired stuff that seem to lean towards a type of non-dualism that is in complete opposition to the naturalistic perspective. That it is all spirits. That there is no distinction between psychology, nature and spirit. Feel like people like Johnathan pageau lean into that. I’ll se if I can find an appropriate

Fear. The first person God sent me to deliver was an anglican minister of 30 years. He was hearing voices for 5 years and getting worse.
He refused to pray warfare prayers against the demons. He just wanted me to. I finally refused to pray for him anymore unless he started praying against it himself... a few weeks went by w.o. contact and he was worse than when we started. He hadnt been using the prayers I sent. He was in alot of torment one day and called me and I told him what to pray, and he kept trying to wriggle out of having to do it himself. Finally he loosed fire against that spirit in prayer like i told him to and he said he didnt feel pain anymore. Suddenly a devil came laughing maniacally out of the phone, angered that I helped him stand up for himself, and I drove that spirit out in Jesus name. He was out for a few minutes. When he came back to, he was talking better than I had ever heard him before! And he was excited about overcoming on his own. That was awesome all glory to God!

I was a bit disappointed in the discussion of consciousness. To simply declare that consciousness cannot be explained by a naturalistic approach without argument does a great disservice to all the philosophers of mind and cognitive science who are working on that very issue. I've had the great luxury of working with many of them at Wash U, where the philosophy department has extensive interdisciplinary links to the neuroscience and psychology departments, and take very seriously this challenge of what such a naturalistic explanation would look like. The easy dismissal of their work without even the slightest consideration of it requires a level of condescension and arrogance that is completely unwarranted.

I wonder if you think there is a special theodicy problem here. I used to be very skeptical towards such phenomena because I somehow trusted they would not be allowed to happen after the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, reclaiming this world from such influences. But I later realized that it maybe just a variant of general theodicy. Just like physical and emotional pain continues to be allowed, in rare instances the demonic seems to be allowed some liberties with humans.
As for the rarity/geographical distribution, I have seen the theory that such phenomena had in fact become very rare in the Christian world as long as it was Christian unlike the parts where witchcraf, voodoo etc. were common. With the fading of Christianity in the Western world this might change. Although your argument with naturalism being more potent in a postchristian culture has also some merit. And in a more general view, I cannot avoid the fact that historically a lot of pagan and demonic traditions have been concerned with deviant sexuality and dissolution of sex/gender. (E.g. demonic figures often being depicted as androgynic/hermaphroditic)

In the Catholic church exorcisms are a last resort. Generally speaking, a natural explanation like stress or mental illness is the likely conclusion. Or a simple blessing of a house where apparitions are seen or people feel uncomfortable. However there are situations where anomalous knowledge points towards possession, such as speaking archaic languages or having access to personal details about an individual's life.
I'm not convinced these are on the same psychic spectrum as near death experiences. NDEs are more common as medical science improves its capacity to resuscitate people who would hitherto have died. They are typically more coherent than normal life, the return to which is resisted, and have little of the uncanny or confused aspects of hauntings and demonic activity.

Sleep paralysis is usually in my experience in ministry, associated with spiritual spouse (succubi / incubi). These spirits claim you as their spouse and they will seek to alienate you from any loving relationship, romantic or otherwise, especially to keep you from getting married or staying married.
These spirits are some of the worst. They come from sexual immorality and therefore they are very very common. They are stubborn, they are kinda like a creepy ex that youve dumped that just wont leave, but also VERY controlling and manipulative. They drain your energy and keep you from getting restful regenerative sleep, sometimes through physical contact while almost or asleep, hence sleep paralysis.
I have driven demons out for 3 years now, and the first one or two, i didnt know how much i believed about these spirits.. thought maybe it was an exaggeration.. then I discovered I had picked one up and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was very strong. They want you tired all day, lonely, and lustful. Their main goal is actually to hinder ministry. If theres some sort of goal God has to work through you in life, they will seek to influence you to channel your more base desires instead and get in the way, so to speak, including by sending an unhealthy partner (outside of marriage of course).
Blessings hope this provides some insight.

Speaking from 3+ years experience as a deliverance minister--They usually only make displays of power to divert the course of events to something less jeopardizing or adverse to their interests.
They will frequently manipulate the physical realm to distract powerful prayers, or to divert an inquirer of God from being revealed the key to their defeat/power/influence etc.
Theyre not afraid to reveal their presence if they think they might potentially either avert some worse consequence by doing it, or achieve some greater harm to the morale or disposition of the victim.
Its almost always just to bluff/manipulate, basically.
You can rest assured if you ever see one messing around for sure, that theres something else its trying to protect or hide.
Many times the unexperienced in deliverance will get caught up in reacting to the demons plays instead of dictating the course of events and pressing into their pressure. By grace, God is on our side though!

But yes I have visibly seen them choke someone before they could finish the line of prayer for revoking its rights. I have audibly heard one growl from all corners of the ceiling simultaneously (very loud, deep, rumbling and snarling demonic growl lasting around 9 seconds. It sounded like it was coming from a surround sound system--at first notice, I thought it had to be some new furnace in the breezeway maybe, but after turning my head I realized that it was coming from every direction above me in the room, and that the pitch was ascending / getting slightly louder, before slowly descending to a pitch deeper than when it started--the best way I could describe it was like a mix between an enourmous lion and a dragon, only recognizing after the fact that the devil is portrayed as both in the scriptures!) which initiated immediately after asking out loud for God to send His strongest military angel to my aide (this event was out of this world, hearing the voice of something that you can intuitively immediately tell would demolish you in an instant if it could, its a feeling like being an apex predator's prey, looking at it from the safety of some sort of shelter or barrier, but seeing and hearing and feeling the hungry frustration and conflictedness of it, that all of the sudden it is prevented from ending your life! I have felt them touch me, and seen the skin tighten around the neck of the person they were choking. Ive seen them flip lightswitches, rapidly toggling them on and off as a last ditch diversion technique when I was on the verge of breakthrough while driving them out of someone else. I have watched physical objects be pulled on, pushed, and moved, all as a response to prayer and spiritual warfare.
Usually when they do things like this its just to distract or divert the course of events to something less adverse or jeopardizing, for them and their own interests.
Occasionally, when making an agreement with one and other situations where they are feeding off of your energy rather than being repelled by it, they can accomplish various feats that would otherwise might be impossible for some reason, disallowed or otherwise restricted by God.
One of the weirdest things I have seen them do is to transfigure peoples faces. Granted, most people have seen some form of this, especially if theyve seen someone suddenly "flip" in attitude or temperment--in such circumstances, they can cause a glint of light in the eyes like "something else" is there (kinda like glossy eyes when a person is drunk), but even up to pulling on the muscles of the face to make a person look especially evil, rugged, old, young, seductive, puzzled, inquisitive (like prying), hateful/angry, tortured, depressed, scared, disgusted, all kinds of things including making the pupils dilate, and making the iris change color or the whites much more red, almost pink.
I have heard seen and felt these things with my own body and Im convinced that there is no aspect or realm of the physical that our soul interacts with that they cant manipulate or manifest through. It all depends on how much legal claim/ground they have in your life, and how strong they are, but is limited by a factor of how strong you are in your faith--a person who is very strong in faith, God may allow to experience these things, but the demon wont be able to do things like levitating people or objects as it is too demoralized and weakened by the anointing of the Spirit of God on your life. The best way to describe it is like bubbles of light and corners of darkness that are trying to overcome each other. The darkness, of course, rather runs, and collects where it can/must. The light may be dim and rare but it can overpower much darkness.
But yeah repeatedly in prayers for this one girl, the demon used to mess with her home to try and keep her from being present for the prayer, or to mess with us visually through the camera (we were delivering her over webcam). It would flip the lights off, or cause her to drool and then shake her head rapidly side to side, she would pass out during the really intense battles, as there were many demons trying to keep their hold on her locked up tight. She went from looking insane when she first came to the meetings to, by the end, almost having a glow about her! Everyone could see it. We met every week. There is video uploaded of some of the meetings. If youre interested Ill give you more info.
Blessings and protection for you as well in Jesus name, brother. I pray God gives you fire and boldness and power and good gifts as well, to heal and deliver in the name of Jesus!

Yeah the enlightenment notions have become the churchest worst enemies regarding spiritual oppression. Only since the 1600-1700s has any church taught that a believer cant have a demon.. its not only absurd, but the bible disproves it much more consistently than it even 'leaves room' for that interpretation.
Saul had a demon, Judas had a demon, Paul had an angel of Satan in his flesh.. as a minister of deliverance from demons in the name of Jesus, I wish we could get the western church back into the sweet spot of not only knowing that demons (still) exist, but knowing that believers, like everyone else, not only can, but do have demons, and that we are commanded to pray to drive them out by Jesus many times throughout the scriptures.
Its interesting that every time a major revival happened, delivering people from demons was involved at first, and then when the powers that be tried to stamp out this arm of ministry, then the revival inevitably would fizzle out.

I have watched physical objects be pulled on, pushed, and moved, all as a response to prayer and spiritual warfare.

Occasionally, when making an agreement with one, and they are feeding off of your energy rather than being repelled by it, they can accomplish various feats that would otherwise might be impossible for some reason, disallowed or otherwise restricted by God.
One of the weirdest things I have seen them do is to transfigure peoples faces. Granted, most people have seen some form of this, especially if theyve seen someone suddenly "flip" in attitude or temperment--in such circumstances, they can cause a glint of light in the eyes like "something else" is there (kinda like glossy eyes), but even up to pulling on the muscles of the face to make a person look especially evil, rugged, old, young, seductive, puzzled, inquisitive (like prying), hateful/angry, tortured, depressed, scared, disgusted, all kinds of things including making the pupils dilate, and making the iris change color or the whites much more red, almost pink.

I think it’s possible that Catholics have more interaction with demons because they have more devotions to physical objects (which demons can communicate through). More iconoclastic traditions just don’t encounter them as much.

Protestants were the big witch-burners. Witch burning never caught on in Catholic countries. When the Spanish Inquisition examined the cases of reported witches, it almost invariably concluded that the charges were false and the accused were not guilty. But tens of thousands of supposed witches were burned at the stake, hanged, or drowned in Protestant countries, including the American colonies.

This video is a wonderful lesson.
For those who criticise you. If you’re a young kid; say 15. And you love video games or you are interested in the stock market. Whatever your interests are. And they come to criticism from other people; say parents; always remember that some jackass is wasting his time and life on studying demonic possession.
So your interests can’t be a waste of time if thousands of other deluded idiots will believe this horseshit but tell you video games are the devils work.
It’s called cognitive bias. And essentially - your critiques have a perceived, personal, qualitative view on what you do. And have already decided it’s bad. Because someone else decides it is bad; doesn’t mean it is. Look at smoking. They said that was great! Now look at all the health evidence against it.
Well anyhow - reality is what you manifest - if you believe that there’s demons - you’ll make everything about demons. If someone has a mental breakdown because they have PTSD and complex schizophrenia disorders. “that’s demons!” So kids. Live your lives - don’t sit and preface your existence on this planet by religion, by other people’s belief. Live by your belief. Don’t harm others; don’t harm yourselves. Look for every side of the coin (the problem at hand) before you judge anything as XYZ.
Unfortunately this idiot believes demonic possession could be real and keeps putting every situation down to demons when someone has an issue.

Listen guy, believe what you want, but they are real. I didnt want to believe. I avoided the notion like the plague for 10 years. Eventually, after seeing stuff going on in my home for 3 days straight, my ex came over and manifested something inhuman and evil. She didnt want to believe either. I knew her for three years, at that point, VERY well, and this thing was not her. Again, believe me if you want--believe what you want.. but keep in mind, that's a luxury some of us just cant afford anymore. The "reality" we chose had been selectively dissembled by the conductor of the universe in order to show us that His Spirit is real, His Son is the only way, and that the adversarial spirits who come only to murder rob and destroy us in spite of Him, will bow only to His words of sovereign might and authority, wether spoken through Him, or through us in His name!
I didnt go looking for this stuff. It was thrown into my lap, by happenchance you might say, but I know now theres no such thing as coincidence when it comes to stuff like this.
You know how I know this reality is not just a projection of my own powers of imagination or creative thought/will or whatever you call it?
When this thing first started showing itself in the room that day (before it temporarily took control of my girlfriend) I was believing it was ANYTHING BUT a demon. I was hoping to learn whether it was an angel, actually, tho by that point I was suspecting it could just be a "trickster spirit" like the pagan myths I found so interesting alluded to... but when I said "If you have any ill will toward either of us, you cannot stay here." It literally got in my face. I realized okay its obviously looking to cause trouble and I said "you have to go. I dont allow you to be here anymore. Youre not allowed to be here. This is our home you cannot stay. Youre no longer welcome." Yadda yadda yadda even in my mind "willing" for it to be gone. It only got stronger and more menacing.
That was when I suspected/ recognized what it really was, much to my dismay. I said wait are you a demon??? Youre not allowed to be here, Jesus Christ defeated you long ago! The blood of Christ broke your powers over us!" I said this almost to bluff the spirit. I was an occultist. I didnt believe in the bible. I surely didnt believe in demons in the biblical sense. It was just a kneejerk reaction to what I remembered exorcists saying was the reason they had any influence over the demons!
Thats when the spirit got very provoked. It started making the air feel heavy and darker. Threatening/foreboding. Knowing I was already in the battle, I kept on talking about the blood of Christ and Jesus and it eventually took my ex over and made her mock me in a deeper voice, and when I confronted her and put my hands on her gently to say "no, dont joke around about this right now," she snarled, crinkling her face, and clawed at me in an animalistic way. Its hard to describe this event as it was very very intense, but I discerned something was off about her, in my spirit. We went upstairs I called around for help but got nowhere. The pastor didnt even believe it could be possible, but I could discern something off about him, too. So I hung up the phone and took things into my own hands because I loved her and knew she needed help. As soon as I put the bible up to her forehead and commanded that demon to come out, she put her head down and started growling and something else was acting through her... I kept on trying to "believe" it away, or out, but it ran circles around me (as I later deduced because I was trying in "my own power"). So eventually I went back to provoking it with invoking the blood of Jesus, and that worked immediately. It would growl and grumble, not wanting to say anything. I could feel it going back and forth to manipulate us both and distract us or get us to give up. Finally I began to pray out loud to the Father and ask that she be forgiven and for this spirit to be cast out and never return, and she eventually began to cough, and vomit, and need to use the restroom. After that she was feeling much better but we were both shook up still! The spirit wasnt growling from her anymore, though.
Since this day I have driven these things out of hundreds of people, places, things, myself included, and I can tell you that using your own will does nothing by itself. It requires the presence and purpose of God behind you.
I will say that imagination is given us by God and it is very powerful to war with the devils, with! In other words, God can work through it! However its not all imagination power because during these sessions, sometimes it just the prayers and the word of God spoken in faith that was needed to drag these things up and out of people. For instance, in the scriptures, David would play a lyre to soothe Sauls symptoms of his evil spirit--this was because David played to the glory of God, and when you use your imagination to that measure, God loves to anoint it with His power and authority! Everything that happens on earth and in heaven will all ultimately go to the glory of Jesus Christ, and his Father in heaven! That is the reason why all that is, is...
I hope my testimony helps you to imagine something different, man. I believed in ALOT of the same things you were talking about... but in the face of experience with evidence, I was obliged to abandon my worldview, and adopt the one I have now. God has given me power and authority over many evil spirits that otherwise could and would like nothing better than to decimate me, without Him.. its been 3 and a half years and Gods word has changed my life so much for the better, and my familys, and my friends. Its not an easier path, but it is infinitely more fulfilling and rewarding. I know I am never alone now, that I have the Spirit of my Father in heaven, and that He has chosen me and will never give up on me or let anything take me from the destiny He's had for me since long before I was born.
But make no mistake, these things are real, and powerful. They can manipulate not only the physical realm but our own souls through our mind, will, emotions, property and belongings, and they are the inspiration behind every evil action, even every action that fell short of the glory of God. Without these evil spirits, we wouldnt have even been able to imagine such fallen things!!!
God bless you man, I pray your heart is open and softened to receive my testimony of faith with consideration.
I have nothing against people who dont believe in God or demons, only some consistent experience which makes me differ, and I hope that you will recieve the power and authority of God to glorify Him and do His will, as we all have to serve something.. my final word in regard to imagination is that there is nothing new under the sun... and that there is a time for everything that happens.. A time for every season. A time to live, and a time to die. The fear (respect, reverence) of God is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is the beginning of understanding.
