This is true! You can use the Integer parameter on the first Math CHOP to achieve the same result. We're trying to keep things beginner friendly by splitting the operations out into two operators, to be able to see directly the new range of the CHOP channel's output prior to the integer function being applied.
Very nice video! I just don't understand why for me it doesn't want to center the text from the null DAT on the text TOP, it just displays it at the top of it
You might need to adjust the parameters in the Text TOP to get the text aligned where you want it. On the Font page of parameters, take a look at the Horizontal Align and Vertical Align parameters -- both need to be set to Center for the text to be centered in the texture.
thanks this is helpful. but i wonder is there any sneaky way to use a single Table DAT that has a list of different lines of text, and switch between the different lines, one-at-a-time? as opposed to having to duplicate a bunch of Text DATs? seems like there's gotta be a way
Are you looking to isolate the different lines of text? If so, you could use the Select DAT, set the _Select Rows_ parameter to *By Index* and then specify the index of the row you want to output.
This should still function the same in the latest version of the software, make sure first of all that you've added a Text TOP to the network (if you accidentally add the Text COMP you won't find a DAT parameter to use). Second, after clicking on the Text TOP to make it active, make sure that you drag the Null DAT directly onto the DAT parameter in the Parameter Window. Hope that helps!
@@TheInteractiveImmersiveHQ thanks for answer! i will watch and follow the video again and try it. Thanks a lot for your videos, fr in less than three days i learned a lot ♥
This series is sick, thank you
Of course! Thanks for watching :)
Don't quite get the second math (12:54). The rounding could also be done together with the range?
yes, you can do that too
Thanks for this excellent course.
You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful!
12:35 In the math1 CHOP can’t you adjust integers directly? why is it necessary to create another CHOP to do this?

thank you
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching :)

the text operator doesnt allow me draw the data from the null. could it be that the newer version changed that?

switch tables, eh? if only there was a way for a table to have multiple rows
Houdini user here, the simalarity is uncanny.
Pretty interesting, right? Coming from Houdini you can really see where a lot of TouchDesigner's workflow originates.
DATs the shxt 🖤😎🙌🐇 big picture making more sense, tx friends 🛞
They're underrated! Glad to hear it :)
