The main difference between the zebco 888 and 808 is that the 888 has a more advanced continuous anti reverse. And the 808 has a quick set anti reverse. The 808 is more prone to failure under a very heavy load due to the different anti reverse system. And the 888 has ball bearings instead of the plain bushing most 808 models have Wich allow them to run smoother. The 888 also has a dual pick up pin head, unlike most of the 808 models, which ensures that if for some reason a pin brakes while fighting a really large fish you have another pin to grab line and take it's place. I love these reels and there all I use I just thought I would share some information
Yep, indeed so. I plan on using a Zebco 888 attached to a Ugly Stik Catfish rod 8 ft length. See how that one turns out. Also, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops has a spinning rod and reel combo called the King Kat. 10 ft. rod and comes pre-spooled with 20 lb line. I heard it's cheap line, so replace it with some heavy set 30 lb mono or braid. Those will be my setups when I get to it.
@@craghamby9717 I love the reels. But the design flaw with the anti reverse made me switch to all 888's. And check out the ugly stick ugly tough SC20, I hate to say it but it's actually better as far as quality and toughness goes. And to be honest I might be switching to all SC20's.
808 & 808 boss hawg 1 ceramic pickup 1+1 bearings. 888 2+1 bearings & dual ceramic pickups. big cat xt ( spincast) 3+1 bearing dual ceramic pickups just like the old 888 pro staff that's the difference that I see being the most important. Some old 888's had brass pickup pins my favorite is the old 888 " Great White "
Nice catches. That first one was pretty good sized. I hope to catch more channel cats soon. Still, my biggest one is 12 lbs back last summer at an urban pond. Got some giants in the Tennessee River for sure. Hope you can come out sometime. I plan on using a Zebco 888 attached to a Ugly Stik Catfish rod 8 ft length. See how that one turns out. Also, Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops has a spinning rod and reel combo called the King Kat. It's about $50 for the combo. It has a 10 ft. rod and the reel comes pre-spooled with 20 lb line. You should try tres rios wetlands on 91st ave and southern you park the have to walk a little bit but worth it. Id advised a 2 to 3 oz no roll sinker theres current
yeah...I have too, i'll go fishing twice and have one day where i might catch a few fish. with the urban ponds being stocked I'm hoping that helps until the fish start biting again. hopefully when it gets warmer

They might live if they weren't cut in the gills.

@@chrisalbright5669 Maybe he doesn't eat fish. Worst case scenario the fish doesn't make it, and something else will find it's carcass and eat it.
