Hearing this for the first time today. What and astonishing album, I've never heard anything like it. The musicianship is mind-blowing, the time changes, fast bass, solos, unorthodox rhythms, everything! Found it ebay just now too...
Those guys were beasts, bass, solos, weird drum rhythms I have never ever heard in any other band... unfortunately quite unknown and in the end some members had quite a bad luck. But yeah, geniuses!
That bass... wow. It seems obvious to me now that Bomer probably taught Joe quite a bit of what he knows on bass. Joe did know how to play before RKL, but Bomer probably made sure to sharpen his skills before they toured.
What? Joe Raposo, joined in 1987 , after this albums release and he didn't know how to play before RKL? So he played like a master in less than 1 year? That's fucking impossible mate!
That riff around 1:25... It's like Chuck took those five seconds and wrote The Sound of Perseverance around it. It's probably (definitely) not true, but that's how my brain is processing it.
Al Di Meola is a great point of reference for any musician. Some of my friends were in a practice room down the hall from his, so we got to hear his band play through the door. Are there any other punk bands on the talent level of RKL, or are they peerless in this genre?
I'd say that Melt-Banana (discography, especially from "Charlie" onwards), NoMeansNo ("Wrong"), and Bad Brains ("Bad Brains", "I Against I") are in the same category. Outside of Melt-Banana, some other more recent Japanese bands like Idol Punch ("Pop Violence"), Deepslauter ("Super Rizumu"), and for a handful of tracks my personal favorite, Razors Edge ("Magical Jet Light", "Fucked Up!") have hit this level. Something like "Torture Garden" by Naked City might also scratch the itch.

the world's too late to apreciate the kind on earth like you
mi was too young,.......
and the Music make the Rest,....RKL the Best Hardcore ever!
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEBENOOOOOOOO!!!! PREJEBENO!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Bomer himself could make Iron Maiden's rhythm section sell their instruments. Great vintage thrash punk.
Music just isn't the same anymore.
FUCKIN' A !!!
rippin
Hard to believe that bomer played both bass and drums. I'm trying to figure out how to play bass as fast as rkl but with my fingers.
he did not play both in the same time
@@KorgKapperi You can't prove he didn't!
You need a pick for RKL bass.
the answer is drugs
and genetics
ok, I'm thinking now. it was bs. this album was out before Hicks could've been famous enough... keep up btw
maybe it's bs.. but could this song be inspired by Bill Hicks? Lyrics are kinda what I'd say to him, at times..
This could've been one of the best bands ever if they'd had even a halfway decent vocalist. This album's so good, as long as you ignore the "singer."
DMcFed But it IS... one of the best bands ever.
It's my rock and roll nightmare
Then it wouldn’t be RKL
Jason suited the band perfectly IMO.
nahhh..... chucklin severely . Jason Sears was the Man... RIP Jason

Yes, but in fact it's Bomer who played bass for recording
Except on Riches To Rags. Joe recorded on that one.
yes bomer wasn't in rkl anymore

Oh scratch that. I read that as "He did not know how to play".
LSD Riders, take it and love it.
haha this shit changed my childhood, love it !

I always thought RKL being somehow MASSIVE on Education took that from Al Di Meola, they are musicians, musicians.
