The Public's Response to Diddy's Sexual Assault Lawsuits Is Concerning

  • Over the last couple of weeks, a number of civil lawsuits have been filed against some very high-profile people in entertainment alleging they committed sexual assault, abuse, and harassment, starting with 54-year-old Sean Puff Daddy Combs.
Now Diddy settled his lawsuit with Cassie with the quickness, and by the quickness, I mean he settled the lawsuit the next day now I don’t know what Diddy did or what he didn’t do, but I do know the conversation around his case and others that have come to light since, has me f*cking bothered.

Thank you for educating me. Hearing a woman’s perspective along with stats should give a mature man perspective. As a girl dad, I would be angered and appalled if my wife and/or daughter were victims of sexual assault or abuse and especially if nothing was done about it. It’s troubling as a whole but especially in the black community. I needed to hear this and be educated on this topic. I’ll make sure to do my own homework so I can be more informed and be a support system and not in the way of progress. 🙏🏾

I'm a survivor as well. I confided in someone and was told I shouldn't report it and ruin another black mans’ life. What about the fact that victims/survivors have to live with this trauma every day of their lives.
You see why women don't come forward! We get blamed/condemned. Why would women want to relive that trauma over and over again? Especially when we are taken serious, believed or supported.

I once heard a male tv host say, i dont smack my daughter as i dont want her to associate love with any form of physical violence, unfortunately im a statistic also, and it infuriates me at people women included saying why did she wait so long, or these other ladies from 90s, it can take years to heal and the emotional scars never do. Maybe seeing cassies case on tv or press triggered them, its not always about money but capability, love your podcast, watching from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland UK ❤

Regardless of wuat Symone 😊 said, I don't care what you say, settling in 24 hours is because Diddy or whomever knew what was coming if they didn't. Can't be upset that Cassie's team know the NY law well enough to know the benefit of linking the organization that gave them their victory. Not all of these ppl are lying! But that's his point right or wrong... would you be willing to forgive or allow the discretion to receive a pass from someone you accused of assaulting you for a sum of money or what would you consider justice or would you be seeking justice? Those are the questions he is asking.

@romefromthed which if you listen to this whole thing, you hear the reasoning for. Be victimized in a world that doesn't believe you, doesn't give a damn about you and asks questions like THIS, and then maybe you'll understand.

    • @djinnee1792

They weren't assaulted by someone but something. The system has ignored and belittled them, and then Gunz and like minded individuals want to question the only public acknowledgment of their trauma left available to them. Media interests dies out once the celebrity is gone, maybe they donate portions of their pay out to assault help groups or abuse shelters. Without experiencing the same type of assault how can anyone question their recovery process?
The NDA's don't just allow celebrities to keep their brand intact. They also protect law enforcement and the courts by hiding the lack of interest and investigation into these types of incidents.

Jemele thank you so much for sharing your story and this truly powerful work. As a spiritual counselor and coach who helps trauma victors to heal, I discovered that the narrative to blame the victim or stay silent is rooted in generational curses via the route of chattel slavery and many forms of oppression taking place different ethnic groups across the globe.. The programming and conditioning of many people's psyche is so damaging that their initial reaction is to do what they learned and operate with dissonance to the pain. They havent understood how to access their healing and have empathy in healthy ways that would break those generational curses.

My condolences to the trauma you display from your experiences. The problem with your personal assessment of many people's response that question the accusers is it declares the police, district attorneys, and others will or should look at the accused in the same light you look at the accused in your personal experience. People are killing people for less than two dollars. Onlyfans is not struggling to get people to sign up. Public figures men and women have spoken publicly of different forms of scamming and scheming to get over financially on the opposite sex from strippers and escorts setting up to the etcetera. Do we not remember how Tawana Brawley had the whole black community looking or what about the female Carlee Russell, who just lied and said she was kidnapped on the side of the highway.
This is not a personal attack to those who have actually been abused, but without an unbiased investigation into every case you CANNOT just take people word. In the climate of people publicly shaming, including slut shaming females in school, on the internet, and even on jobs there are some who will and have acted in regret too. On a case by case bases there has to be an unbiased investigation..

Im all for racial justice in the court system … that said, I’ve also been falsely accused of assault and it was proven she was trying to get away with incompetently doing her job by using that as a distraction. NO you do mit just run around believing something because someone said it. Whether it’s a brother, sister, friend, or enemy we have all experienced being falsely accused of something. People deserve to be listened to … and evidence deserves to be presented and proceeded appropriately…but people DO lie and 8% is a lot when you’re one of the 8%!!

I have a lot of friends that are survivors and I pray for their healing. I also know men who have had their lives and reputations destroyed by false allegations. We need to support those who have been victimized but we also need to have a standard of proof. Without some evidence it is too easy to destroy someone with allegations. Both things can be true at once.
I am not worried about the celebs so much as the other 2400 people who have had cases opened, some decades after the alleged conduct. Even if one is a false allegation that's one too many. None of us would want our relative or friend to be destroyed because someone who is malicious wrongfully accused them of something 30 years ago.

In regards to Cassie I don't know her and have a thought that she and puffy as well the other two females popping up should take a polygraph test to see if they were compliant or not. I met puffy at a party and speaking with him did not show me a homosexual attitude nor an aggressor person and he was a little tipsy then yet respectful. Now I've seen my share of females in the industry do things for money just to get to a big boy. So I believe we need the polygraph test and if it shows who was compliant and not then ( book him dano)

I agree! It's very much reminiscent of the R. Kelly scandal. If Diddy did these horrible things he needs to be sitting right next to R. Kelly.... in jail!

Thanks for sharing your story and your mother’s. Your mother came up in that era where it was forbidden to speak about it, so I commend her, because there are too many from that time that are suffering in silence. You gave some good facts but the truth is, it’s a topic that no one really wants to talk about, especially in the black community. It’s easier to dismiss it altogether. What it is, is the people who are loud and kind of mean around these discussions haven’t experienced it firsthand nor they have they had to hear a love one tell their story. Not everyone has that empathy gene.

Real talk, Jemele. Thank you also for being vulnerable about what happened to you and your mother. I, too, had an attempted rape and wish I could sue the abuser. Thank you for breaking down this very complex matter with straight facts and commentary. I understand now why you walked away from the establishment they’re not ready for your kind of honesty.

I’m glad women are coming forward it’s not easy to do. I wish every state would follow NY statue. I was sexually abused at 8 and I didn’t remember until 26 so it takes a while for people to understand and try to heal from that time period which is not always in lock step with the laws

The people who are defending Diddy and attacking the victims are probably guilty of SA themselves🤷🏽‍♀️ They’re nervous and don’t want to be next, that’s why they’re trying to make the victims seem like liars. It’s the oldest trick in the book.

All I know FOR SURE is that this country would be a whole lot better if we listened and learned from people like Jamele. I love her honesty, her perspective and her intellect. Instead Jack off Bill Mahr gets a major platform. Listen to Jamele America and we would all be the better for it!

The reason Diddy settle so quickly is due to many reasons. 1 Cassie has witnesses to back her claims. 2 she sued Diddy and his corporations which now affect not only him but the power brokers of the companies he is associated with which is why he stepped down from Revolt even though he owns 50% of the company. Her Lawyer is a genius doing this which is why Diddy had no choice but to settle and I'm happy his fall is coming. I wholeheartedly believe he had something to do with Pac and Biggie death. I agree he manipulated Boys, woman, and men in the industry sexually and mentally. His Sins have caught up to him. You can't have the whole city talking about you crazy and it's not true.
