I also worked in education for 10ish years and it is so true about speaking very PC and "corpo" about everything. It also took me a very long time to not put as much value on degrees and such since it is so prevalent and valued in education (for obvious reasons) and value people for their experiences instead of pieces of paper

Totally true! I've been re-evaluating that same thing about degrees with the new trajectory my kid is on!

I find your tone and intonation really calming and lovely to listen to. In my corporate role I have to amend corporate language to Grade 5 level so that it suits a wider community customer base. It’s an interesting process to simplify language.

Thanks for your comment! I wish all the scripts I received were written at a Grade 5 level! My dream would be to never say the words innovation, automation, traceability, digitalization or sustainability ever again lol!

F*ck yeah. Your flexing starts and ends within yourself.
I'm battling anxiety and believe it or not; I've made some strides. And as much as I want to share this feat to others, I just kept it within myself and it felt more fulfilling. I can now look myself in the mirror and say, "You mofo, you're doing it"

Wow, thanks for sharing! Sounds like you're in a good space! Love your personal mantra! It's way cooler than "You're good enough, you're smart enough and gosh darn it, people like you!"

Interesting, this is only the 2nd video of yours I've watched. I'm one of those people that happens to have a huge vocabulary just from being well read, as well from having taken 12+ years in university because I liked learning, and have worked in the corporate world a long time to make ends meet. One thing I find (for me) that is the antithesis of being authentic to myself, is to "dumb-down" how I naturally speak. Yep, I'm wordy, and I've been told that the way I speak can be very colorful and descriptive, especially when I'm telling a story. The last thing I'd ever want to be is boring in my speech. I will however adjust, when in person, if I see the other person in the conversation doesn't understand what I'm getting at. But I'll not make any change in speech to purely to socially "fit in", because every time I do it comes across as really fake and people can tell. They might even find it offensive or patronizing if its really obvious. On the flip side, making those adjustments can also come across as manipulative if one is absolutely trying to be incognito in a given group.

Thanks for your thoughts and comment! I like to think I have an extensive vocabulary, but what I've noticed is that I end up using certain words or phrases as fillers instead of ums, ahhs or silence. For me, this is more of an effort to simplify everything in my life. I want to have less stuff, make less waste, use less words lol! I have this desire to be super clear and concise but have fallen into the YT trap of being the opposite in an effort to impress people I don't even know or make videos longer than they have to be. I don't think there's anything wrong with being wordy or descriptive but I think I've been using them unnecessarily (although maybe this is all me trying to justify my dissatisfaction with my current career lol).
