- Can librarians and archivists have a conversation about the significance of current and future decolonising work in UK libraries and archives, reflecting on its relation with (or exploring its roots within) the British history of (especially Black-led) social and educational movements?
This is a video of the event that was held on Wednesday, June 8th to explore the connections between archivists and librarians; highlight new voices in our sectors; and, together, think about a long legacy of resistance and resilience within British Black communities that inspired powerful student-led initiatives, such as Why Is My Curriculum White (2014), Rhodes Must Fall (2015) and Young Historians Project (2015). Generously sponsored by UCL Department of Information Studies, Open Aspirations, Iniva, (Institute of International Visual Arts) and UCL Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Speakers:
• Rebecca Adams (London Metropolitan Archives)
• Marilyn Clarke (Goldsmiths, University of London)
• Shanique Thompson (Goldsmiths, University of London)
Co-moderators:
• Mary Blomley (University of West London)
• Sae Matsuno, (INIVA, Stuart Hall Library)
• Alison Hicks (UCL)
